[Bug 1172670] Re: THinkPad X121e : WLAN disabled after waking from suspend
Hello Christopher, thank you for your suggestion! I updated the BIOS to the latest available version, and the bug with the WLAN getting turned off after sleep now appears to be solved. I've restested with several sleep/wake cycles and the bug does not appear at all anymore. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1172670 Title: THinkPad X121e : WLAN disabled after waking from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1172670/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 549107] Re: lucid beta 1 fails to mount external USB 3.0 storage
Christopher, thank you for the reminder. I have progressed quite a bit beyond Lucid since I reported the bug, and I don't have the hardware that I used to test Lucid on anymore. For what it's worth, I also have a suspicion that the problem in question was caused by the USB 3.0 adapter card from Western Digital, and not the operating system, but that is hard to say anything about at this point. [Bug 591939] [NEW] lucid - vlc + firefox new windows crashes xorg
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau Lucid system running with the latest updates. Gfx card is a newer nvidia, running the nouveau driver with no desktop effects enabled. I've twice experienced this, with the screen briefly blanking out to a black tty, outputting a line of text but instantly returing me to the user login screen. All apps running at the time get killed. Update: I seem to get consistent behavior now. Status is that if the drive is already hooked up to the PC on boot, it mounts and runs fine at the expected USB 3.0 speed. If the drive is not hooked up at the time of boot, plugging it in when the PC is on will have no effect, and it wont even show anything in the system log. Status update: Over the past week, I've experienced a hard freeze once more. Active apps were Firefox, System Monitor, Deluge torrent, and the gnome- screensaver. [Bug 574576] [NEW] lucid final hard freeze w/ screen garbling (suspect xorg crash)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Firing blind, but will update this as i find out more: I'm using Lucid Lynx final release, fresh installed, on this system (Samsung laptop R580, Intel Core i...@2,13 Ghz, 4 G RAM, nvidia 330M). System has been in use for a few days with this install. Symptoms: random hard system freezes where the screen either becomes garbles or torn across the middle (vertically) with no cursor response to mouse movement, OR (non-garbled) screen freeze with a short lasting cursor response to mouse movement with a hard freeze of the screen and all computer activity shortly after, OR an immediate freeze with no response whatsoever to user input and no screen garbling. Dropping out to TTY doesnt work; in all cases a hard shutdown is required, as keyboard input becomes impossible. Conditions: Happens uniquely when Firefox is the foremost application and a Firefox window is active. Freezes tend to happen with moderate windows and tab number active (fx. 3 windows and perhaps 15 tabs in all). Other active apps (typically): Pidgin, Vinagre, Nautilus, Gedit, System monitor. Other software of interest installed or in use on system: CPU Frequency Scaling Monitor 2.30.0 (4x, one for each CPU core) attached to gnomepanel. Gnome-do installed but never invoked at any time close to crashes. Other tests: Have been left on overnight with System monitor on the resources overview to test of that would trigger a crash/freeze, which it hasn't yet. Therefore, I suspect that it is a bug in X-org, triggered by Firefox in an unknown way. I cannot attach apport information, as it does not report anything upon reboot (no reports of kernel panics or the like). System did not show any such behavior during testing Lucid from Beta 2 and up to RC. [Bug 361456] Re: [RS690] fglrx HDMI overscan in both 720p and 1080p modes
Despite the bug being closed, i hope I can bring some new light on this. I've obtained a new display today; Samsung SyncMaster P2450 - 1920x1080. It replaces an older 1920x1200 display. The new display has native HDMI, the older only had DVI-D, and i used it with an HDMI-to-DVI adapter to make it work, but it worked fine. My gfx card is a Radeon HD4650, likewise with a native HDMI port. After some unrelated bugs with usplash, I've run my head into this - that the edges of the screen are cut off. Mind, this is not a TV display, but a regular PC display. After pulling out some newly grown grey hairs, I succumbed to installing the ATI fglrx drivers, and discovered that the screen cutoff is related to overscanning (set in Display Settings > Scaling Options). Setting it to a low value (underscanning) makes the entire desktop vibsible, but making it match the screen edges precisely seems impossible. There is still the problem that even though I can line the desktop up mostly well witht he screen edges, the pixels still seem blurred, and this is unaceptable. Uninstalling fglrx reverts the overscan settign back to max, cutting off the screen edges again. Since Bryce H. asked for a triage 5 minths ago with the recently updated drivers then, I'd assume that the bug is not fixed. I'll try to be of assistance if more needs to be done. - p -- [RS690] fglrx HDMI overscan in both 720p and 1080p modes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/361456 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 493834] Re: boot hangs with Dell 3007WFP-HC at Radeon X1950XTX
This bug also affects me; latest karmic/9.10 as of 28dec2009. Problem encountered when replacing an older TFT monitor (Acer 24" - X243W) with a newer Samsung Syncmaster P2450. Boot is fine UP TO loading Grub, at which it stalls with the same symptoms - blank, black screen, but backlight on (so it still receives a signal from the gfx card). No curser, no screen activity whatsoever. No system acitivity either, no HD activity. When i detatch the monitor (connected between gfx card (Radeon HD4650) and monitor with HDMI cable), boot continues fine, and I'm able to log in (albeit headlessly). I hear the usual ubuntu greeting sound after punching in the username and pw. I have a fast fix (thanks to Stefan Bader above for the hint!): 1) Boot your system in recovery mode (via grub). 2) Get your terminal and edit /etc/uspash.conf (if you want to use gedit: write 'sudo gedit /etc/usplash.conf' ) 3) it's a simple configuration file; edit the dimensions in the two lines to the native resolution of your display. 4) Save, do a 'sudo initramfs -u' - this will write the setting into the boot setup. 5) Reboot. My monitor still looks a bit mushy but at least it returned my sustem to a workable state. -- boot hangs with Dell 3007WFP-HC at Radeon X1950XTX https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/493834 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm this bug, however with the difference that I do not seem to get a gstreamer error message in the system log. I have also tried updating with todays gstreamer updates, but to no avail. I'm getting this regularly, after Transmission having been active for at least several hours, seeding large amounts of data, and it's memory footprint having grown to over 200 MB in size. I was unable to upload the crash report, as the 300+ megabyutes choked the server. :/ -- Crashes on shutdown if libevent loop doesn't exit soon enough https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319880 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 446355] [NEW] pulseaudio stops playing audio and spams system log with error
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pulseaudio Running Karmic Beta, though this error has been present at least since a6. After an unknown period of time (my guess: around one hour), the system is unable to play sounds of user interface or applications. Opening the Sound preferences incidentally makes the preferences box blammoon beyond full screen size, forcing me to close it in the taskbar. Also, it only shows 5 of the total alert sounds. In addition, the console is spammed with these two kind of messages: Oct 8 15:51:50 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 203 events suppressed Oct 8 15:51:55 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 205 events suppressed Oct 8 15:52:00 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 198 events suppressed Oct 8 15:52:05 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 207 events suppressed Oct 8 15:52:10 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 205 events suppressed Oct 8 15:52:15 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 204 events suppressed Oct 8 15:52:20 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: ratelimit.c: 200 events suppressed Oct 8 15:57:48 equinox0 pulseaudio[2451]: sink-input.c: Failed to create sink input: too many inputs per sink. Ah, sorry for the above, but on topic: I can still provoke the crashes from time to time (Jaunty beta, Transmission 1.51), MO is the same - the Transmission run overnight with a handful of open torrents, open the properties for any torrent a couple of times, poke around the various tabs, click CLose, and it hangs for a minute, then quits. -- transmission crashed with SIGSEGV in g_main_context_dispatch() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/322614 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I think so, but to be honest, I'm not sure. Long story short, I'm new to Launchpad and the bug reporting business, and I have in fact had a handful of Transmission crashes over the last week, but whenever Apport pops up, I can see it compiles crash reports that are, MegaByte-wise, well into the double digits (smallest 21 MB, biggest 91 MB!), and whever I send them off, the Launchpad page that usually results from sending a crash report gives me a timeout error, without showing me the description of the crash I submitted. Regarding the crashes, they seem semi-repriducible, and sometimes happen when I open the "properties" of an active torrent, click around the tabs (typically peers and tracker), and afterwards choose to close the properties window. Te result is full CPU use for about 5 seconds, and then a crash. If my reports have been choking your bug submission system, I apologize, but I don't know how to shorten down the amount of data that I send off to you. a good weekend to you, -- regards, Peter B. [Bug 220407] Re: Cannot change screen brightness on Fujitsu T2010 laptop in Intrepid
This appears to still be the case on portables, specifically for me, on a Lenovo SL500. Using the Function key to increase brightness by pressing the "brightness UP" key combo, will raise the display brightness by one notch; subsequent key presses will then decrease the brughtness a single notch, and so it goes - each additional press either raises or lowers teh display brightness. To get a comfortable brightness level, i have to reboot the laptop. On a side note, volume up, down and mute buttons do not work either. -- Cannot change screen brightness on Fujitsu T2010 laptop in Intrepid https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
