[Bug 693478] Re: xdeb -a armel --apt-source gdb: configure: error: cannot run C compiled programs.

2011-05-24 Thread Peter Pearse
The gdb source needs work to make it cross buildable.

In this case some parts of the configure script need cache variable
processing inserting so that target values can be inserted during cross
builds, rather than the script failing.

When using the --only-explicit option the dependencies of the package to

[Bug 622737] [NEW] dpkg-cross package skipping causes xdeb to fail

2010-08-23 Thread Peter Pearse
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xdeb

xdeb -a armel -d ../dest mesa
produces the armel binary packages, then fails whilst crossing them.

Attached the xdeb out put after the armel binaries are built packages
[xdeb patched to output the failing command]

Attached the dpkg-cross command which returns failure when spawned.
It appears that dpkg-cross returns failure when any packages are skipped,
and that xdeb does not cope with this.

Note that the mesa code has to be patched as with the attached patch to reach
this point.
The patch ensures host, rather than just built target, tools are using for
compiling shaders.

** Affects: xdeb (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided

[Bug 617329] [NEW] debian/sysdeps/linux.mk does not follow links when searching for linux headers

2010-08-13 Thread Peter Pearse
Public bug reported:

In eglibc 2.12-0ubuntu5
the linux headers are found by searching:-

debian/sysdeps/linux.mk

KERNEL_HEADER_DIR = $(stamp)mkincludedir
$(stamp)mkincludedir:
rm -rf debian/include
mkdir debian/include
ln -s $(LINUX_HEADERS)/linux debian/include
# Link all asm directories. We can't just link asm and asm-generic
# because of explicit references to asm-sparc/* and
# asm-sparc64/*.
find $(LINUX_HEADERS) -maxdepth 1 -xtype d -name asm\* \
  -exec ln -s '{}' debian/include ';'

# To make configure happy if libc6-dev is not installed.
touch debian/include/assert.h

During bootstrapping of a cross compiler this can fail since links are
not followed.

Adding the find parameter -follow solves this.

[Bug 609060] Re: [armel][cross]The cross compiler Build-depends on incorrect version of gcc-4.5-source

Probably arising from the rules.conf entry:

else
# build cross compiler
  CROSS_BUILD_DEP := libc6-dev$(cross_lib_arch), zlib1g-dev$(cross_lib_arch),
libmpfr-dev$(cross_lib_arch),
