If you are using Ubuntu 15.10 Beta 2 (Wily), then the workaround is to manually download syslinux_6.03+dfsg-5ubuntu1 debian package from Vivid repository, extract syslinux binary and use it instead. syslinux doesn't have other dependencies and other files used when creating a bootable usb (viz.mbr.bin) are identical between Vivid and Wily. [Bug 1278723] [NEW] not able to upgrade to ubuntu version 13.10

[Bug 1215745] [NEW] Widget overlaps on other icons in system tray
Public bug reported: I have enabled 'YAWP' from system tray settings in Kubuntu 13.04 ( backports of KDE 4.11 PPA added). I notice that 'YAWP' icon overlaps other icons of system tray. [Bug 1009201] Re: lagging while scrolling a page.
** Description changed: Firefox doesn't scroll the page properly. I may not be able to explain the problem exactly. But here is what happens : 1) Open certain website. For Eg: ubuntuforums.org 2) Try scroll the page down. - 3) On screen it looks like it is not scrolled but in fact it would have scrolled down. - This is confirmed after sometime when the page come out that freeze and begins to show the new position of page. - Also it can be confirmed by trying to copy a line or opening a link. The link will not be opened because the link would have scrolled to new position and after the window comes out of the 'GRAPHIC FREEZE' you can click on the link from it new posiiton. + 3) On screen it looks like it is not scrolled but in fact it would have scrolled down. Ie It appears like GRAPHIC FREEZE. [Bug 1009201] [NEW] lagging while scrolling a page.
Public bug reported: Firefox doesn't scroll the page properly. I may not be able to explain the problem exactly. But here is what happens : 1) Open certain website. For Eg: ubuntuforums.org 2) Try scroll the page down. 3) On screen it looks like it is not scrolled but in fact it would have scrolled down. Ie It appears like GRAPHIC FREEZE. I say it as graphic freeze because I can use the window, for that matter refresh the page etc.  This is confirmed after sometime when the page come out that freeze and begins to show the new position of page.   Also it can be confirmed by trying to copy a line or opening a link. The link will not be opened because the link would have scrolled to new position and after the window comes out of the 'GRAPHIC FREEZE' you can click on the link from it new posiiton. [Bug 883990] Re: Dash: Lenses are slower in selcting an icon in dash
Am using Ubuntu 11.10. NVIDIA Geforce 7 series. I think have pretty good graphic card for running any modern OS. 2 GB Ram. What I mean is that when u open dash to search or select some app, sometimes I tend to hover over a few icons and then select the right one. While I do that a white rectangle is shown on the icon on which i point my cursor(i.e Trying to highlight my selection). So when I move the cursor to next icon I find a visible lag between me already having moved on to that icon and a few miliseconds later the white rectangle follows it.. I find this lag to be annoying. Unity 2D doesnt have that kind of lag. To give u a anlogy of it. Think of a high end graphic game running on low spec pc where u find lag between ur movement of mouse and cursor getting to the desired place. Something similar happens here but its not cursor that lags here but the white rectangle (showing highlighted icon). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883990 Title: Dash: Lenses are slower in selcting an icon in dash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/883990/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 882274] Re: Community engagement is broken
I wouldn't mind if they want to the keep the launcher on left forever. How many of us really change any default layout. KDE keeps the taskbar at bottom and I dont change that. Win 7 has it's default at bottom, How many them change. NOT MANY RIGHT? Only thing as a user I ask Unity developers is to make it just work wherever it is. For Eg: 1) More responsive. 2) Less resource hungry. ( It works for me on 2GB Ram but not on low graphics). My thoughts on launchbar actions: It's more consistent behavior if the icon I pressed minimizes the app back. Because as earlier pointed out even application indicators like indicator-menu, message indicators all use same behavior. Task bar's of these have similar behavior : Gnome 2 , KDE, Win 7. The problem is we as user of all these DE have this in our mind about how a dock should work. On the other hand, Mark thinks in the other way about a launcher. with all due respect I ask Mark why should it be called a launcher (which makes you think that it's for just launching an app), call it a dock where many features could be added on. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/882274 Title: Community engagement is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/882274/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 783498] Re: add per-window ("window-centric") window management to Unity (launcher and/or compiz)
I agree with bug reporter at present there is no good way to manage any open window. It takes xtra steps to close one window when multiple windows are open. Consider this: 1) I have 3 nautilus windows open. 2) I need to close one of the windows. 3) I click on nautilus icon in launher. 4) A spead view of three windows is shown. Now from here at least I should be able to close whichever window I like with one click. But wait Unity makes me take another step. 5) select the window which u need to close 6) Go all the way upto top left corner to close that window. It makes me move cursor all around the screen to get one simple work done. I dont think there should be any problem on adding a feature which enhances usablility of unity overall. A community based solution may look like a hack with many (?) regressions so it's good if it's baked into a product. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783498 Title: add per-window ("window-centric") window management to Unity (launcher and/or compiz) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/783498/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Found the same graphics issue with launcher and the main application panel (top). Sometimes launcher items' tool tip hovers the main application panel and leaves it rendered incompletely. [Bug 823136] Re: Oneiric Ocelot, Alpha 3 - Still the display graphics on Intel i865GvHZ is not appealing (sometimes I see incomplete windows).
Just found a scenario where the above behavior could be easily replicated. Lets say we have 2 folders opened (1. external drive 2. home folder). Now we minimize one of the folder and click on the home icon in the launcher. This would bring up the workspace view where we have an option to select a window from current workspace or from other workspaces. If we click on the minimized window (which would be shown as a white window with home icon in center) to bring it front, it would not be loaded completely. One needs to drag the window to get this graphics issue corrected.
