[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
@Blaster (holst-neils) #131 My patch has nothing to do with DOMAIN logins. In fact, it has nothing to do with anything other that precisely "sys-ca-cert". It is, however, outdated (I don't use Ubuntu myself). I haven't updated it since I posted it, and it is possible that a newer edition of NM itself might have caused the DOMAIN issue you speak of. Also, it IS a bug in NetworkManager itself. sys-ca-certs should never even exist. That is not how 802.1x is done. It is not a replica of the https model. Refer: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=702608#c17 My patch doesn't touch NM simply because NM is larger than nm-applet. I only added the gui option of sys-ca-certs because it was easier. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104476 Title: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1104476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
@Neil: Note that this bug is actually three bugs. More precisely, this is tracking the status of the same bug in three different projects. And the top one is gnome (upstream.) The most recent "Fix released" refers to gnome. It takes a while for upstream changes to be reflected in a stable distro (Ubuntu), especially if it has to be backported (since upstream is usually a little ahead of stable). Note that one of the projects is just "Release Notes". I created the PPA because I realized Ubuntu did/would not consider this bug to be important enough to warrant a feature-change in two stable releases. I do not think that's wrong on their part, although I'm confident they'd see the fix harmless (from a stability POV) if they notice it. I think uploading packages to -proposed is only for Ubuntu maintainers. Here's some more on that matter: http://askubuntu.com/questions/49691/what-is-the-proposed-repository -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104476 Title: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1104476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
@Ben: You can use the PPA I posted which does exactly that. An option in the UI that is disabled by default. @Ubuntu devs: Upstream is debating turning system-ca-certs off completely. Basically, reverting the commit which started this debacle without any regard to end-user usability. There are some very good discussions, including from people deploying 802.1X in the field, on why system-ca-certs is completely useless.

Henri, you are indeed facing a different issue. Most likely incorrect credentials. When system-ca-certs is on, wpa_supplicant complains of a self-signed certificate and stops right there. With a proper corresponding mesage of course. And this one definitely isn't that. I have seen this whenever I put in the wrong credentials. [Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate
One sane solution would be to let the user choose whether to use the system CA certs or not. KDE's network manager applet already does this. I have a patch ready that adds this functionality. For package network- manager-applet. Tested working on ArchLinux, but there are no changes in Ubuntu's 9.8.0 and Arch's 9.8.4 among the parts of code that this patch touches. My university is in the process of testing out 802.1x for wired networks, but this bug is a major bottleneck right now as many people here use Ubuntu 13.04. ** Patch added: "Lets user choose whether to use system CA certs or not." https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1104476/+attachment/3881279/+files/system-ca-certs.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1104476 Title: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/network-manager/+bug/1104476/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 925244] [NEW] X crashes on GPU access by userspace apps, Hardware Acceleration
Public bug reported: An upgrade to Xorg 1.11, and a restart later, when I tried to play a video in VLC, X crashed. I looked into /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old and found a segfault in /usr/bin/X. [Bug 850093] [NEW] Improper Window Handling on Startup
Public bug reported: Pidgin 2.10.0 Ubuntu 11.10 beta1 with latest updates as of 14/09/2011 The window isn't properly handled upon first startup. Clicking anywhere transfers clicks to underlying window, as if this window didn't exist at all. Upon Maximise, doesn't maximise fully. Breaks window decorations too. Interestingly, upon killing/quitting and starting it from the terminal/Dash again, it works smoothly. [Bug 846309] [NEW] Maximise Button breaks window controls
Public bug reported: Upon clicking the Maximise Button on a Unmaximised Window, the window not only does not maximise, but also loses all window control actions. Minimise, Close or Maximise; none of them work after this. Alt+Spacebar brings up the Window Menu, with all options intact, but selecting Maximise results in only the window being moved to the Top-Right, without any actual Re-draw of the window. It worked fine till the latest update (I updated it on Sept. 10, in.archive.ubuntu.com) After the update, and an immediate restart, this annoying behaviour started showing up. [Bug 845177] [NEW] Force sets GTalk Picture from Ubuntu user default pic.
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 11.10 sets a default user picture. Pidgin uses that to set GTalk Buddy Icon. [Bug 760769] Re: Desktop stops responding to all keyboard and mouse clicks
I have some detailed reports about this particular bug, having tested it myself. ->ATI Mobility Radeon 5470 with fglrx from the repos It occurs when using the "Application Switcher Plugin" instead of the "Static Application Switcher Plugin" in "CompizConfigSettingsManager". It happens especially when you return to the same window after a complete cycle of 'Alt+Tab's. The Window actually works fine, just the screen rendering of the window doesn't redraw. For example, in Chromium, when you click on another tab or open a new one, the Title in the Panel changes accordingly, if we reply to a facebook chat, the reply goes fine, just the window doesnt redraw. Umaximizing (and Maximizing again) restores the window drawing state to normal. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/760769 Title: Desktop stops responding to all keyboard and mouse clicks -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 767415] Re: Maximised window image hangs as ghost
I thappens when using the Application Switcher Plugin in place of the Static Application Switcher In the CompizConfigSettingsManager. The Static Application Switcher too doesn't quickly on the screen. Also, when changing most plugins or effects in Compiz, the Unity Panel hangs. I gues the problem here is with the unity plugin in compiz, rather than unity itself Regards, Chhatoi Pritam Baral -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/767415 Title: Maximised window image hangs as ghost -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
