Since upgrading to the Karmic beta, it attempts to print as if the paper was loaded long-edge first. IT will get to the end of the first line, then stop with a paper jam error. The printer can print test pages from its internal memory without being connected to the computer. A test page printed from CUPS or hp-toolbox shows a strip of the side of the sheet, printed across the top. I can save the *.doc and the *.odt without drama, but whenever I save the *.rtf, OO crashes and brings up the crash dialogue. If I save the *.rtf as a *.odt, I can save it without drama, including when covering to *.odt.
