[Bug 1971656] [NEW] rtw89_pci failure on Lenovo P14s with Ubuntu 22.04

2022-05-05 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Public bug reported:

On a Lenovo P14s (RTL8111/8168/8411), the WiFi connection gets stuck at
times. When this happens, there is no way to use `sudo`, the WiFi GNOME
UI says NetworkManager is not running (which it is), and `dmesg -w`
continuously outputs:

```
[90296.470925] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to get available addr cam
[90296.470935] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to init addr cam
[90296.586817] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to get available addr cam
[90296.810790] rtw89_pci :03:00.0: failed to init addr cam
```

The only solution I've found is to reboot the machine. However, turning off
needs to be forced (magic keys still work for rebooting).

[Bug 1971501] Re: Crackling sound & lagging screencast in OBS

2022-05-04 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Scratch that previous comment. Switching to Alsa Capture Device solves
the sound problem only. The screen capture issue is only solved by
switching to Xorg instead of Wayland (but then the CPU suffers from the
fractional scaling).

I tried using Alsa Capture Device instead of PipeWire and got good results:

- screen capture is reactive

2022-05-03 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Notes:

- I tried to switch to Xorg: the screen capture works well, but the sound
crackling is even worse (probably because the CPU is used more heavily under
Xorg due to fractional scaling)
- Everything worked fine under Ubuntu 21.10 (with OBS 27.0.1+dfsg1-1)

[Bug 1971501] [NEW] Crackling sound & lagging screencast in OBS

2022-05-03 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Public bug reported:

Since updating to Ubuntu 22.04, OBS (27.2.3+dfsg1-1) has become unusable
for recording:

- the screen capture (pipewire with xdg-desktop-portal) is very laggy: when
passing slides on the captured screen, OBS stays stuck on previous frames
- the sound input (pulseaudio) is crackling, even though it works perfectly
well when recording the same source with pw-record.

[Bug 1960933] Re: rtw89_pci constantly drops connection with old firmware

2022-03-03 Thread Raphaël Pinson
I can confirm that the proposed package already improves the situation
quite a bit.

As far as I can tell, I've only experienced 3 disconnections since last
night, without setting any of the `disable_*` parameters.

If there's a package to test the new patch from the 25th of Feb, I'm
willing to give it a try, too!

Hi,

I'm experiencing the exact same bug on impish with a Lenovo P14s, with
connection drops every 5 to 10 minutes.

I've just installed the proposed package and will update the bug report
tomorrow if the connection drops have stopped.

I don't think this is worth maintaining a patch. It's easy enough in augeas
to add new transforms using aug_transform or the --transform flag.

Yes, that's right. Patches that are not backwards-compatible are less

root@wrk4 (staging) (wrk-c2c):~# cat /etc/init/mcollective.conf
description mcollective daemon
author Marc Cluet marc.cl...@ubuntu.com

start on runlevel [2345]
stop on runlevel [!2345]

exec /usr/sbin/mcollectived --pid=/var/run/mcollectived.pid
--config=/etc/mcollective/server.cfg

Launching the exec line manually only starts one instance of mcollective.

Upstart is version 1.5-0ubuntu1.

[Bug 934349] Re: network-manager-openvpn does not see gconf configured connections

2012-03-21 Thread Raphaël Pinson
I have the same issue.

When I installed my machine in Precise, network-manager-openvpn was
correctly set up using gconf. Then I reinstalled the machine, keeping
the home directory, and the settings disappeared.

[Bug 374928] Re: Array-info crash which used with -l option

2011-12-19 Thread Raphaël Pinson
I cannot reproduce this bug. On a DL 380G5 running Hardy Heron:

# array-info -l
array-info v0.13.0 by Benoit Gaussen (b...@trez42.net)

Usage:
  array-info -d array_device_path [-a|-l|-A|-c|-s|-L|-h]

Options:
--device=PATH -d path to array device
--all-drives -a show informations about all drives
--logical-drive-l show informations about selected logical drive
  --show-ctrl-c show informations about controller
--show-logical -L show informations about logical drives
--show-status -s show status of logical drives
  --show-all -A show all informations
  --plugin-path=PATH path to plugins directory
(/usr/lib/array-info/plugins)
  --plugin-list show plugin list
  --version -V show version
--help -h display this help message

(appart from the bug showing version 0.13.0 instead of 0.15.0, this is really a
0.15 version). Do you still experience this bug (very sorry for the huge time
taken to answer this bug report) ?

[Bug 807675] Re: please port 0.8.1 for Natty

2011-12-18 Thread Raphaël Pinson
SRU information:

[Impact]
This bug prevents from parsing the default sudoers file in natty with Augeas

[Development Fix]
Grabbing patches from Augeas tickets 188 and 211 fixes the bug. A package with
these two patches has been uploaded to my PPA with version
0.8.0-0ubuntu5~pparaphink1 :

[Stable Fix]
The package can be uploaded to natty-updates with a proper version number.

[Test Case]
After upgrading the package in a Natty environment, issue the following command:

  sudo augtool print /augeas/files/etc/sudoers/error

which should not return anything. On the other hand,

  sudo augtool print /files/etc/sudoers

should output the tree representing your /etc/sudoers.

[Regression Potential]

No regression expected.

[Bug 684837] Re: Package libpoe-component-client-http-perl FTBFS in Lucid

2010-12-09 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Thanks Steve. I've tested the deb generated by the build (it's still in
the NEW queue) and it works fine. As soon as the binary package is
approved, libpoe-component-client-http-perl can be pushed, too.

Now there's probably quite a few other packages that FTBFS because of
these, maybe it would be worth it to find them and get them rebuilt,
too, at least for the packages that were successfully built in karmic.

[Bug 684837] Re: Package libpoe-component-client-http-perl FTBFS in Lucid

2010-12-09 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Ok, I did a quick search for packages that build-depended on these 3 in
Lucid (and hence must FTBFS, too). Here are the results:

libpoe-component-irc-perl build-depends on libpoe-component-client-dns-perl ;
libpoe-component-server-simplehttp-perl build-depends on
libpoe-component-client-http-perl.

Both seem to have built before libpoe-component-client-dns-perl went
FTBFS and are OK, so I think this bug can be closed once the 3 affected
packages are successfully rebuilt.

[Bug 657460] Re: When switching to a tty, the gdm session is lost upon coming back to X

2010-12-08 Thread Raphaël Pinson
@Fabio: thanks for your comment.

It happen to be that I have to use Ctrl+Alt+F8 and not F7 on this
machine, but it would fail after switching to a tty.

When I said I get a gdm login, I really meant a login screen, not an
unlock screen. Of course I don't want my screen to be unlocked when the
machine wakes up from suspend, but I don't expect to have to log in
again, otherwise there's absolutely no point in suspending vs. halting
the system.

[Bug 677822] Re: [MIR] naturaldocs

2010-11-20 Thread Raphaël Pinson
I've searched a bit and found a few projects that generate their docs
with NaturalDocs. Among them are maatkit, mootools and quite a few web
projects. None of these are in main right now.

It is quite hard to guess which projects are using it because there is
no common way of recognizing files using NaturalDocs, and these files
are usually source code that might not be distributed in the debs. The
only simple way is to check for projects that publish NaturalDocs-
generated docs on the web, by searching for Generated by natural docs
on a search engine.

[Bug 677822] Re: [MIR] naturaldocs

2010-11-20 Thread Raphaël Pinson
After further investigation, NaturalDocs is used by mostly web projects
(SOAP APIs, JavaScript libraries), few of them are in Ubuntu.

Other than that, I identified a few more projects in Ubuntu which use
NaturalDocs, such as skytools, xul-ext-firegpg, libsscm3, libfreebasic
or libfann1. All these packages are in universe though, and while it may
be interesting to write an email to ubuntu-devel to encourage the
maintainers to use the naturaldocs package to generate -doc packages, it
won't make this MIR more interesting for them.

That's it. I would really like to be able to activate the doc in augeas
though, all the more that documentation is quite important to be able to
use it efficiently.

[Bug 677822] [NEW] [MIR] naturaldocs

2010-11-20 Thread Raphaël Pinson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: naturaldocs

The augeas package (https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/+source/augeas)
provides a way to document its APIs using NaturalDocs. This
functionality has been activated in the latest build uploaded to Natty
(0.7.4-0ubuntu1) but the naturaldocs package is in universe and augeas
is in main.

This bug requests the inclusion of naturaldocs in main as a build-
dependency for augeas.

The naturaldocs package meets the all the requirements for MIR:
   1. it is already in universe and builds fine for all archs (it is an
arch-indep package)
   2. it is a new build dependency of a package already in main (augeas) and
useful for users (shipping doc with lenses is something users would really
benefit from)
  3. there is no security concerns known about this package
  4. the package is very easy to install and use, and has no known bugs
  5. the command-line tool is easy to use and comes with a manpage
  6. the only build dependency is debhelper
  7. the package complies with FHS
  8. the package is very easy to maintain
  9. the package description is complete and accurate

[Bug 531912] Re: [LUCID] /etc/init.d/ssh seems to work, but actually upstart is used.

2010-11-17 Thread Raphaël Pinson
The state in lucid is really problematic. Afaik, the init.d scripts are
supposed to provide wrappers for upstart in the transition period, and
we are using them in a lot of old scripts to manage our fleet. Reloading
ssh with /etc/init.d/ssh reload resulted in a weird state where
upstart believes ssh is stopped, while it's still up but upstart has no
way to control it until the service is stopped from the init.d script.

Additionally, doing a kill -1 on sshd leads to the same bug: upstart
thinks sshd is stopped when it's really reloaded.

Is there a fix planned in -updates for lucid? What is planned for future
releases?

What is planned for future
releases?

[Bug 362704] Re: nvidia-settings does not keep resolution that it is set too and xorg.conf is useless

2010-10-11 Thread Raphaël Pinson
This bug is still present in Lucid, and adapting ~/.config/monitors.xml
fixes it for me.
