[Bug 2065611] [NEW] man page for apt does not include all commands
Public bug reported: For example, 'apt policy' is useful. Yet, when I execute a "man apt" command, I do not see the "policy" command described. I am sure that there are other ways to find this information, but if a tool has commands, seeing a complete list in the man page seems to be a reasonable desire. [Bug 2037004] Re: warnings in terminal with software-properties-gtk
Initially, the warning/error "udevadm hwdb is deprecated. Use systemd- hwdb instead." repeats 6 times (either as described above, or when running "ubuntu-drivers devices"). [Bug 1307109] Re: Alcor Micro AU9540 keeps powering down when card is present
I personally couldn't waste anymore time troubleshooting this problem. Ensure you are using a Smartcard Reader that is compatible with the CCID (Chip/Smart Card Interface Devices) and ICCD (Integrated Circuit(s) Card Devices) driver. Supported CCID readers/ICCD tokens: https://ccid.apdu.fr/ccid/supported.html Here are some Smart Card Readers that were intermittently working in Linux: [ray@ThinkPad ~]$ lsusb Bus 005 Device 021: ID 0bda:0165 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Smart Card Reader Interface (0bda:0165) is actually a Stanley Global SGT111 Smart Card Reader. The Alcor Micro Corp. AU9540 Smartcard Reader (058f:9540) is a smart card reader that I added when I bought my Lenovo ThinkPad T14 (not knowing that it had compatibility issues with Linux). After running pcsc_scan, I could see the both of the above card readers fluctuate between: Card state: Card removed AND Card state: Card inserted. This would cause my VMware Horizon Client to randomly disconnect from Desktop Anywhere (very annoying). [Bug 1932990] Re: cannot create user data directory: /opt/appserver/snap/chromium/1646: Permission denied
I am investigating whether I can fix the error by using an option, '--user-data-dir=/tmp', when I launch the chromiumdriver. First, snap has made the use of this simple tool, chromiumdriver, much more complex. Second, I have tried to uninstall the snap version of the tool and I cannot now install a non-snap version. Somehow snap has soured the soup. If it is going to cause these kinds of problems, I am certainly not going to be trying to use snap for other tools unless I have to. If the install requirements are very complex, such as with installing certificates, snap is a good thing. But when the install process is simple, one should not use snap? [Bug 115153]
I'm not sure if I have the same problem but I'll explain it. Messages I received in Thunderbird did not actually have the right 'Received' date. So I added mailnews.customDBHeaders = " Received" and now the received column shows the date when my mail was actually received. But sorting by 'Received' is still no different from supporting by date. So I tried 'Order Received' and that seems to work except with threaded messages. For example ascending threaded: foo 100 bar 102 -re:bar 105 qux 103 So I would expect that the 'bar' thread would come after qux but it doesn't. This is actually a big problem sometimes because I have a lot of messages in my inbox and sometimes when they don't arrive for several days they end up way back earlier in the list and I don't even notice them. I will upload two screenshots. In fairness that happens rarely but I'm surprised this bug has been open for a decade. [Bug 1822642] [NEW] Suspend with pm-suspend (or any other way) stops working after a few cycles
Public bug reported: I had a fresh installation of Ubuntu-18.04. From the beginning suspend was failing spuriously. When I looked up in Google, I was suggested to upgrade my kernel as the provided kernel 4.15 was buggy. So I compiled the kernel from source and upgraded to 5.04. The problem still persisted. Having GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="acpi_sleep=nonvs" in the file /etc/default/grub and running sudo update-grub does not change anything. Finally I have narrowed down the problem to calling sudo pm- suspend directly. The command works perfectly fine until a few suspend- wakeup cycles have passed. After a few cycle, the screen blanks out and the system does not go to sleep. Nothing responds and I have to do a hard reboot after which everything works the same. Release: Description: Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS Release:18.04 pm-utils: Installed: 1.4.1-17 Candidate: 1.4.1-17 Version table: *** 1.4.1-17 500 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe amd64 Packages 500 http://in.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu bionic/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status Expected pm-suspend to work every time.
