[Bug 655405] Re: evolution calendar-, task- and notivication-lists crashes by opening

2011-01-22 Thread Raymond Hill
Hi tellapu.

I went to check again the copy I saved prior to applying the change, and
I have to correct myself: Just the same as what you found out on your
side, the file encoding was actually ISO-8859-15 (not ISO-8859-1 as I
reported previously). I didn't pay attention to the line ending
settings, but now I checked and it is Windows, before and after the fix
(IIRC, in Unix/Linux, line ending are \n, in Windows \n\r, and in Mac
\r)

[Bug 655405] Re: evolution calendar-, task- and notivication-lists crashes by opening

2011-01-22 Thread Raymond Hill
We've had the same problem today after an upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10:

"The Evolution calendar has quit unexpectedly. // Your calendars will
not be available until Evolution is restarted"

After a bit of trying to figure what was wrong by searching on internet,
on a hunch, I went and opened the calendar text file in
"~/.evolution/calendar/local/system/calendar.ics". I checked the
encoding of the file by clicking "File / Save As..." (which allows to
check the encoding), and I noticed it was ISO-8859-1.

I made a copy of "calendar.ics" just in case, and saved a copy after
forcing UTF-8 encoding in the "Save as..." dialog box. That solved the
problem (except that accented letters were mangled -- not a big deal).

Hope this works for other as well.

[Bug 174759] Re: Eclipse crashes due to jvm crash

2010-07-16 Thread Raymond Hill
I also have regular crashes, all occurring in libjvm.so. Address at or
around 0x4fdf52 seems to be involved, is it shows up in 3 out of 4
crashes I had today, while the other I had 0x4fdf48.

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with "Formatting Message" after several hours

2010-05-12 Thread Raymond Hill
Yep, exactly the same for me: happens to me with Lucid 64-bit and
Evolution 2.28.3 and I have no any IMAP account, just 3 pop accounts.
Now it has happened almost every time I launch Evolution lately. Need to
"end process." I tried to change "preview" settings, and now I have
*five* "Formatting message..." in the status bar. I can double-click on
items in the preview area, and have a window with the message in it
correctly open. I try #71 above, but too quick for me.

[Bug 550913] Re: Computer freezes while scrolling a PDF file inside Document Viewer

2010-04-17 Thread Raymond Hill
I think this bug can be closed. I have recurrent computer freezes
requiring cold reboot, so I suspect that the fact it happened twice in a
row while scrolling a PDF document is pure coincidence, not unlikely
since I was mainly working with PDF back then.

[Bug 531027] Re: GLIB WARNING ** GLib - getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)

2010-04-16 Thread Raymond Hill
I got the same message four times since my last entry here, each time
accompanied by a computer freeze requiring a boot. For the first three
times, I couldn't identify the process from the id. The last time, the
process matching the id was scsi_eh_3. What to make of this? Of the 6
scsi_eh_? listed in the process list, scsi_eh_3 was the only one with a
CPU time different than zero (in case this matters). I am wondering of
the problem is related to some sort of disk operation, as I remember
clearly than in at least two occurrences, I had just used the save
function in gedit.

[Bug 531027] Re: GLIB WARNING ** GLib - getpwuid_r(): failed due to unknown user id (0)

2010-04-14 Thread Raymond Hill
As seen in glib-2.24.0/glib/gutils.c, line 1658, the case leading to the
warning (which occurs prior to the computer freeze in my case) should be
"pretty rare":

"we bail out prematurely if the user id can't be found (should be pretty
rare case actually), or if the buffer should be sufficiently big and
lookups are still not successfull."

Whoever owns this source might be able to provide insight?

Since the computer freezes, I haven't been able to see from which
process the warning originate. So I have taken a snapshot of the process
list around with pid 300-400, so I should be able to see which process
was the problem next time the problem occurs.

differing each time.

at all with gedit, as far as I can tell, the SQL dumps where being
opened/parsed by gedit when the crash occurred.

[Bug 175233] Re: Evolution hangs with "Formatting Message" after several hours

2010-03-29 Thread Raymond Hill
I get this problem a lot, so much that each time I launch Evolution I
get anxious about whether it will hang with the "Formatting message
(...)" or not. Currently running version 2.28.3. Contrary to what Markus
Birth reported above, mine hang without a message being sent, often
immediately after launching Evolution.

What's an "OWA" account btw?
