[Bug 191816] [NEW] mozilla firefox 3.0 crash on high cpu

2008-02-14 Thread Rebug
Public bug reported:

Thu Feb 14 2008
Ububtu Hardy Heron version 8.04
Today's update included the mozilla firefox 3.0
This new firefox browser runs shortly after start-up on high cpu and
freezes.
No other extension or theme than default.
This version 3.0 can only be stopped in gnome system monitor (end or
kill process)
Firefox version 2.0 has vanished with this update/upgrade.
What now!?
Iakop
Ps.: Firefox 3.0 on Ubuntu 7.10 does the same trick, high cpu 100%

2008-07-12 Thread Rebug
Public bug reported:

I have chosen through PM to upgrade hh-8.04 to intrepid-8.10/b2 and all of a
sudden PM tells me the boot/menu.lst has been modified and than froze.
Package problem: Sorry. the package "update-manager" failed to install or
upgrade.
Further more: The upgrade aborts now. Your system could be in a unusable state.
A recovery will run now...dpkg --configure -a.
I was running KernelCheck version 2.6.26-rc9 at time of update/upgrade.
If recovery succeed will try to upgrade again using kernel 2.6.24-19
Thanks for your cooperation.

[Bug 211283] Re: greeter app failed to start

2008-04-03 Thread Rebug
Today`s upgrade was all about Linux kernel version 2.6.24-14 generic and Open
Office.org.
The exact text on warning window "The greeter application appears to be
crashing. Attempting to use a different one". Clicking away this window will
show a white pointer on black screen.

Two options to solve the issue;

*Recovery mode>>recovery menu offers "root shell prompt" I need the
command/code to continue. (no internet connection while in recovery mode
so not possible for me to update/upgrade)

*Ubuntu files on the hd are accessible using "Knoppix live-cd" how to procceed?

*The /boot/grub/menu.lst>altered to show only one kernel instead of all. Could
this be a problem to give live back to my Ubuntu 8.04!?

Public bug reported:

Dell2400Dimension Intel chip-set 845G/GL/GV PCI/SVGA 8280IDB/DBL (ICH4/ICH4-L)
This beta version 8.10 of the Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex boots up to a blank screen,
you can hear the greetings sound and than the screen becomes black. I have an

[Bug 277577] Re: No sreen

2008-10-10 Thread Rebug
I have today install and tested OpenSuse 11.1 beta-2 as well as Mandriva 2009.
Both Linux OS make use of kernel 2.6.27 and both performs well on my PC
Dell2400 dimension Intel chip i845G.
The bug for i845G in Ubuntu is a real nasty one and as shown above has nothing
to do with kernel 2.6.27
Is there a hope for a fix in Ubuntu!?
Thanks for the effort put forth.

[Bug 703609] Re: Cant playback a live stream video

2011-07-18 Thread Rebug
hi,
I am running ubuntu 11.04 64bit. Nvidia driver 275.19
I am experiencing similar crashes with the vlc multimedia plugin version 1.1.9
on this site > http://nos.nl/nieuws/live/journaal24/wmv/ and others where the
mediaplayer is required to play streams
If I disable the vlc plugin in firefox "nightly" add-on/plugin page the site
works fine. I think it's using the compatible totem plugin version 2.32.0 to
run the mediaplayer. I have shockwave flash version 11.0 d1 installed. This
issue with the vlc plugin started on my PC on sunday july 17 2011. I am also
running linux-mint 64bit, same issue and fix.
I can install moonlight plugin 64bit in firefox nightly (8.0a1) but codecs
install fails because I don't have permission (permission denied)
Thanks,
Jacob

[Bug 277577] Re: No sreen

2009-05-02 Thread Rebug
Ubuntu jaunty-9.04-alternate-desktop-i386.iso
Intel chipset i845G/ICH4 Dell2400D

I have install jaunty on issue date and it runs fine...got audio/video and
jaunty feels like powersteering and it's fast to. Liberation fonts rendering is
better than on ms-w and needs no extra fine tuning. Startup and shutdown are
both smooth. Have not encounter any issues as of this writing.
The /etc/X11/xorg.conf file is empty, o bytes so can't show or tell any thing
about and why! I have misses ubuntu since september 2008 and I am very pleased
with this jaunty edition, thanks.

Hi,
I have edit the xorg.conf file as shown below and it works fine. Option "DRI"

My system:

I have tried the Intrepid Ibex 8.10-rc live-cd and all I get after boot is a
blank screen (with greeting sound and mouse activity) that turns black and a
movable mouse pointer. I am experiencing this issue since II-8.10 Alpha-5.
For your information Mandriva-Linux-one-2009/gnome now installed on my PC uses
the same kernel 2.6.27. Attached please find Mandriva-xorg.conf file, it might
help. I got sound and video with this excellent version of Mandriva 2009.

[Bug 399821] Re: [i845] karmic fails to initialise display on boot. 2.6.31-3 + drm + Intel 845G

2009-08-18 Thread Rebug

For your information.
Dell2400D Intel-845G
Have installed Xubuntu kk-9.10 live-cd build 20090815
Smooth install, auto-login works, hardware driver load is slow therefore
boot-time exceeds 4 minutes. This build comes with kernel 2.6.31-5 installed
and runs fine except for xorg which draws high cpu power while running
applications. The OS was updated with kernel 2.6.31-6. When running this kernel
xorg draws 42% cpu power with no application running "clean desktop except for
terminal running top". Cpu use hits 100% when one program is started and it
eventually becomes unresponsive. I am using Xubuntu with this post, thanks.

This image runs black-screen right after boot start.
Recovery mode: all text boot to console and if I enter "exit" this Linux-image
boots normal to login and I can use karmic koala.

Linux-image-2.6.31-020631rc2-generic
The image is installed and I can find it in synaptic however not on list
grub.cfg or the grub-boot-menu so can not test.

My window version xp is on karmic koala list grub.cfg but not on grub-
boot-menu so to start windows I have to edit grub-boot-menu at start.

Up to now all karmic koala Linux-images takes about 4 minutes to load
hardware drivers, long boot time.

Karmic koala "gedit" crashes all the time so I use Ubuntu version 9.04
for viewing karmic koala file-system.

I am running Linux-image-2.6.31-020631rc3-generic with this post.
Thanks

Will try an other UKK daily build sometime next week
Ubuntu 9.04 runs fine
