[Bug 1942437] [NEW] Impish wallpaper competition winners

2021-09-02 Thread Rhys Davies
Public bug reported:

We need to include the winners of the 21.10 wallpaper competition in the
release image. I don't know how to attack files here so I'll just
provide links to the winning images in Discourse:

First: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/wallpaper-competition-for-impish-
indri-ubuntu-21-10/22852/171?u=rhys-
davies&_ga=2.144156597.1440561583.1630580808-2071368223.1629705927

Second: https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/wallpaper-competition-for-impish-
indri-ubuntu-21-10/22852/60?u=rhys-
davies&_ga=2.144156597.1440561583.1630580808-2071368223.1629705927

Also, I mentioned in the competition that if the Desktop team decided
that they could fit more submissions into the release image without it
becoming too big, that the next 8 submissions might make it in too. So
if you decide you can fit more in please let me or Monica know and take
them from the links in this blog post which lists them in the winning
order: https://ubuntu.com/blog/winners-of-the-21-10-wallpaper-
competition

Let me know if there's anything else I can do.

I'm not certain but I don't think the update included a major update so
it would have been 5.4.0-53 or -54-generic

[Bug 1904922] [NEW] External monitor undetected over hdmi

2020-11-19 Thread Rhys Davies
Public bug reported:

After the latest updates when I plug in an external monitor over HDMI it
doesn't pick it up. Unplugging and re-plugging the monitor seems to
connect but immediately drops into power-saving mode.

[Bug 1899955] [NEW] New Freeze Exception: Exceptional circumstance

2020-10-15 Thread Rhys Davies
Public bug reported:

A description of the proposed changes, with sufficient detail to
estimate their potential impact on the distribution:

Changing the default wallpaper from the existing Groovy Gorilla
illustration to the Raspberry Pi specific one with the Raspberry in his
sunglasses.

"We'll basically need to revert https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/ubuntu-settings/20.10.2 and https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/ubuntu-wallpapers/20.10.2-0ubuntu1 and update the warty-final-
ubuntu.png"

A rationale for the exception, explaining the benefit of the change:

The benefit is to pay homage to the work various teams have been doing
with the Raspberry Pi foundation and to their product. It's a way to
signal our commitment to making their platform great and deepen our
relationship with the Pi foundation.

Any additional information which would be helpful in considering the decision

The concerns people have are of product placement and forcing something
onto peoples machines. There are several arguments against this, the
option to change to the default easily, that there is not direct link to
Raspberry Pi anything and its quite subtle. But ultimately the reason is
we want to make a splash with the Raspberry Pi and arm in general and
this is a very good way to do it.

[Bug 1891683] Re: Focal upgrade doesn't work, unable to remove the 'peek' ppa

2020-08-17 Thread Rhys Davies
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1611737 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1611737

That might be the issue, but trying to remove the ROS URL from 'Other
Software' along with the PPAs I thought it was originally still doesn't
work so trying to upgrade fails, presumably because they're not being
properly removed. I've tried using the ppa-purge tools too but not sure
how to get that to work for the ROS packages since they're not listed as
ppa in the 'Other Software' tab.

[Bug 1891683] [NEW] Focal upgrade doesn't work, unable to remove the 'peek' ppa

2020-08-14 Thread Rhys Davies
Public bug reported:

Part way through the upgrade it falls over an tells me to remove ppas
and try again. So I do and get the same message, i go back in and the
ppa that I removed has returned. I tired a few times and the ppa always
comes back. It's the 'peek' application (the screen grabbing app) ppa.
