[Bug 527428] Re: There is no way to rotate a display using nvidia proprietary drivers

2010-05-29 Thread Ramón Rocha
Nee700, this bug was submitted during the round of testing for the
nvidia and ati propiertary drivers on lucid. The test case said to
expect a failure of xrandr when attempting to rotate the screen and to
use the nvidia GUI configuration tool instead. However, the GUI config
tool has no option to rotate. Hence my confusion on whether or not this
bug was a duplicate to begin with.

If you think it is more clear to switch the duplicate status than please
do so. Thanks.

2010-05-08 Thread Rafael Carduz Rocha
It seems that my problem was this issue:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8686018
I solved it by moving all my files in the Desktop folder to a temp one... It is
probably a corrupted jpg file... Hope this solve others problems... It is still
a bug though...

[Bug 459499] Re: Microphone does not work on Acer Aspire 5050

2010-03-30 Thread Ramón Rocha
Thanks for the response, Daniel. I set the values as you described and
tried all three input sources but it still doesn't want to record.

What's weird is that the checkbox test never finishes and I have to kill
the gst_pipeline_test process manually. When using Sound Recorder, I
hit the record button and the Play button immediately becomes enabled
but the Stop button remains disabled. A sound file is never generated.
Could the bug be in a different package maybe?

[Bug 536832] Re: Setting compose key as 'right CTRL' traps cursor in VirtualBox

2010-03-17 Thread Ramón Rocha
Hi Andreas,

Maybe it is not technically possible with the current way the compose
key is implemented but I was expecting virtualbox to release the cursor
from the virtual machine when pressing right CTRL.

I would not expect that setting this key as the compose key would block
other applications from detecting that the key had been pressed.

one is correct.

Federico, you're English was correct. My interpretation of Manual

3. Stop X/gdm
4. Run their script

The expected results as defined in the test case did not match the

I also encountered this bug in Lucid. It appears to consistently happen
for me when hitting the number 2 key on the keyboard.

Moreover, when two monitors are connected, instead of my session ending
and getting returned to the login screen, both of my monitors shutoff
and the keyboard becomes unresponsive.

Martin, before doing the logout/login workaround, do you see graphical
corruption at the top of your screen that gets worse the more you type?

2010-02-15 Thread Ramon Rocha
I was doing some testing of lucid today for the nvidia prop. drivers and
am getting behavior that sounds the same as this bug. How can I verify
it's the same issue?

changes to connecting for one second and the changes back to connect
again without connecting, the same happens to the cloud icon on the
starup panel it always display an red x on top of it. when I click

again.

[Bug 495496] Re: Proxy gets disabled if Use the same proxy for all protocols checkbox is unchecked

2009-12-12 Thread Henrique Rocha
The fact that it updates on the fly may be an intended feature but typing in a
proxy and not using it is a serious bug.
If you have different proxies you can't have the Use the same proxy checked
and if you disable the checkbox you loose the internet connection.

Why did you change the status to Won't fix ?
On my system I have to use a different SOCKS proxy than the HTTP proxy so I
have to disable the Use the same proxy checkbox. If I do that I no longer
have Internet access on my apps.

Why don't you consider this a bug?
Maybe I didn't explain the bug well enough.

I'll fix it next Monday because I'm not behind a proxy at my parents home.
I don't know your workflow on how to submit a patch but I'll fix the bug and

I'm going to assign the bug to myself it that's ok.

[Bug 495496] [NEW] Proxy gets disabled if Use the same proxy for all protocols checkbox is unchecked

2009-12-11 Thread Henrique Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

I have a proxy defined in the network proxy dialog.
If I uncheck the Use the same proxy for all protocols checkbox I no longer
have Internet access.
If I check the box again, my connections gets back.

This means that the dialog changes the system without the user pressing
an ok button and that the proxy gets disabled if the box in unchecked.

[Bug 459499] Re: Microphone does not work on Acer Aspire 5050

2009-10-27 Thread Ramon Rocha
I confirmed I have a profile selected and have tried all available input
devices.

It turns out this bug
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/checkbox/+bug/459606 was
affecting my tests results. The scripts to record audio were not
actually being executed. The scripts run now, but they never end.

The activity bar appears, the temporary directory and wave file are
created, but the bar never goes away and the sound does not play. I
have to manually kill the gts process to make checkbox responsive again.

[Bug 429343] Re: boost library dynamic_bitset.hpp fails to compile

This bug occurs to me too.
It seem that boost 1.40 had a workaround to this gcc 4.3.3 incompatibility.

[Bug 413791] Re: fglrx does not support 2.6.31 kernel

2009-09-11 Thread Rafael Carduz Rocha
Hi,

This was not fixed for me with latest drivers and kubuntu karmic. If I have no
xorg.conf, I can login in kdm, but the drivers are not in use. If I generate a
xorg.conf with aticonfig --initial and reboot I get the same crash instead of
kdm.
Anyone else with this problem. I am thinking about a fresh install...

thanks,
rafael

[Bug 424139] [NEW] drag and drop from banshee to brasero causes segmentation fault

2009-09-03 Thread Ramon Rocha
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

On Ubuntu 9.04 while making a standard audio CD, I dragged and dropped a
song from my Music Library in Banshee to the Audio Disc Project window
in Brasero hoping it would add it to the project like Rhythmbox does.
Instead Brasero crashed with a segmentation fault (visible in terminal).

Ideally it should not crash and the song should be added to the Brasero
project, but if it does crash it would be nice if the project would not
be lost. Maybe this could be accomplished by saving to a temporary file
after the addition of each song. It is annoying to get halfway through
creating an audio CD and lose your work because of a bug.

** Affects: brasero (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 273142] Re: screensaver won't release with mouse movement

2009-07-28 Thread Ramon Rocha
Awe, oh well.

I'm not sure I am convinced it is hardware specific. People with
nvidia, ati, and intel drivers have all reported it in the comments.

I just did a quick test because it used to happen on my machine but
doesn't anymore. However, it's one of the first things my wife ran into
on the machine I recently built her. SpirographX seems to correctly
respond to mouse movement. The screensaver Pacman does not. Make sure
you wait for the screensaver to run for a little bit because if you move
it soon it will work correctly.

[Bug 273142] Re: screensaver won't release with mouse movement

2009-07-28 Thread Ramon Rocha
...how long to wait for the bug to arise?

I did not measure it, but about a minute seems to consistently reproduce
the behavior for me using Pacman which, as you stated, is not a default
screensaver.

Regarding the hardware, could it be related to using a USB mouse vs. a
PS/2 mouse? I am using a USB mouse but I would think that would be
abstracted to the screensaver.

Unfortunately I do not have a test machine available at the moment, so I
cannot help test in Karmic. Thanks for looking into this for being a
papercut, mac_v. If you cannot easily reproduce it, it would seem it is
not a papercut.

jjericho is right. The mouse clicks are actually doing something on the
server but the client screen does not refresh.

I was able to reproduce this connecting to Ubuntu 9.04 from Windows XP
using either RealVNC or TightVNC clients.

I have these options set in vino preferences: Allow client to control,
do not ask for confirmation, require password. The other options are at
their default.
