[Bug 94782] basic kopete install is crashing just after start

I've investigated the bug a little further. Since the url is opened with https protocol it tries automatically to use the https_proxy environment variable which is not set on my system, only http_proxy. I had a problem with these characteristics today and the solution was to open /etc/cups/printers.conf and rename the printer from LaserJet-1300 to HP-1300 . I found out that the most updated version of Dapper samba packages do not share if the printer is named LaserJet-* . Unfortunately, I found so many errors during the upgrade that it was unable to finish and left my Dapper with some Edgy packages, creating some incompatibility that I needed or to reinstall Dapper or make a clean install of Edgy. I did a clean install of Edgy in order to have some problems fixed. So I cannot give further details in this errors. But please, pick up a testing machine and try to upgrade from Dapper to Edgy.
