[Bug 1682321] Re: installing 16.04, grub failed to install
Yes that matches my experience. When I went through the install again and went the other way with the bios/uefi decision, everything seemed to work out. The text of the final error message, and the text of the BIOS/UEFI dialog box earlier on, were not sufficient to initially make a connection in my mind. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1682321 Title: installing 16.04, grub failed to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub-installer/+bug/1682321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1682321] [NEW] installing 16.04, grub failed to install
Public bug reported: Tried to upgrade 14.04 to 16.04 from a USB onto an Intel NUC. Gave an error at the end about grub failing to install and won't be able to boot. Tried again, instead of upgrading, reformatted / partition and installed, same error. This is the automatically generated error, not sure what happens from here. Will try again, reformatting boot partition as well. [Bug 933283] Re: Fresh 10.04 upgrade, firefox won't run

[Bug 933283] Re: Fresh 10.04 upgrade, firefox won't run
Thanks for checking in. I already moved the old ~/.mozilla to ~/.mozilla_old, and none of my attempts have yet created a new ~/.mozilla (except when I managed to start up firefox as root, it probably created a /.mozilla, which I should probably look for and delete). I'll double-check tonight though. Another thing, I'll log in as a different user and try that; and I'll create a new user and try that. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933283 Title: Fresh 10.04 upgrade, firefox won't run To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/933283/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 23917] Re: gksudo GnomeUI Warning
Now the bug is 6 years old; I'm seeing this in a fresh upgrade to 10.4, when I try to start firefox. See bug 933283 (look, this bug was in the low 5 digits, and now we're about to reach 7 digits! [Bug 933283] [NEW] Fresh 10.04 upgrade, firefox won't run
Public bug reported: Upgraded to 10.04 from, I think it was 8.04? (it was pretty old). Everything seemed to go ok, except sound and firefox. I found some other web advice to do with fixing up alsa, so sound works now. But still firefox will not start. Click the icon, error window Your Firefox profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. Try to start from command line, same window, and the following error messages: (firefox:2781): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager: None of the authentication protocols specified are supported. /home/tina/.esd_auth: Permission denied I can check, and if /home/tina/.esd_auth actually exists, then I can remove it and try again, same result. Sometimes that .esd_auth reappears, sometimes it doesn't. I have moved .mozilla off to .mozilla_old, afaik I have no profiles, still can't open.
