[Bug 1336191] [NEW] system monitor update interval resets to zero (0)

2014-07-01 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
Public bug reported:

This is not a lifethreatening bug, but it looks sloppy...

What i did:
1) Start the gnome-system-monitor
2) Select the menu item 'preferences'
3) Observe the value of 'update interval' on any of the three tabs. It is
'0,00' eventhough the interval is set to some other value (e.g. '1,00')
4) Change the value to something that is easy to detect as being different from
the current value. (say '3,00') and close the dialogue.
5) Observe that the value has been accepted.
6) Select the menu item 'preferences' again and ...
7) Observe that the value of 'update interval' is again set to '0,00'.

The required info for reporting the bug:
Ubuntu version: 14.04 LTS
gnome-system-monitor version: 3.8.2.1-2ubuntu1

[Bug 1261818] Re: Can't type user password in lightdm

2014-06-25 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 128 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/128

This bug may be a security issue, because i had the following
experience:

I was working in a terminal window with elevated privileges when i
locked my computer to go for a meeting.

When i came back i couldn't log in because LightDM seemd not to capture
my keyboard. After some clicking around and trying i finally could log
in again and saw that everything i typed was entered in the terminal
window as plain text.

I hope this gets solved soon.

[Bug 1091183] Re: davfs2 can't work with Sharepoint servers with NTLM authentication

2014-01-17 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
This bug still hasn't got much attention... I'm running 13.04 currently
and it hasn't been fixed in this release either.

[Bug 1248873] [NEW] Screen rendering issues with full screen virtualbox or remmina

2013-11-07 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
Public bug reported:

When running VirtualBox or Remmina full screen on one screen of a dual-
monitor desktop, the other screen is not refreshed properly.

On the 'host desktop' often incomplete renderings of windows or residual
graphical artifacts are visible. Also the computer seems unresponsive,
not rendering menus or the dash eventhough iḿ frantically clicking
around in it.

On the 'guest desktop' often an invisible unity bar is present which
results in advertently launching apps on the host machine.

- I'm using ubuntu 13.04 (this bug was also present on 12.04, 12.10, but less
pervasive) with all the latest patches
- The guests i'm using are virtualbox-4.3.2-90405 with the guest extensions
etc. properly installed and Remmina-1.0.0-4ubuntu2.
- The guest desktop and host desktop have different resolutions.

I think this has to do with unity and compiz related libraries, but i'm
no expert on this...

** Affects: remmina (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Attachment added: Screenshot showing on the left the host with residual
graphical artifacts and on the right a virtualbox guest desktop.

[Bug 272557] Re: Leaving an SD card in the slot when suspending creates a nautilus window on awake

2013-09-02 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
Until recent i never had this bug before even though i always have a SD-
card in the slot of my laptop.

The only things that changed since i have got bug are the laptop and SD-card.
- The laptop is a Lenovo W530
- The SD-card is a cheap imitation (model 0, serial 0xb1538a26, vendor
unknown)

I run Ubuntu 13.04 64bit.

If i were a developer i would be looking in the section of code that
deals with reactivating the hardware. Apparently Ubuntu incorreclty
treats the powering up of the SD-card as an insert of the card.

Hope this information helps, good luck with the bughunt!

[Bug 1104476] Re: Network manager cannot connect to WPA2/PEAP/MSCHAPv2 network without CA_Certificate

2013-08-27 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
For some reason this bug has worsened. Previously i could work around
the issue by deleting the line that says 'system-ca-certs=true' but this
stopped working because it would erase the password i've set for the
user.

I'm now completely unable to connect to my corprate network, please fix
this soon!

[Bug 872219] Re: Applications lens disappears

2011-11-18 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
I'm giving up unity. It is not ready as a stable release yet and i feel
that canonical should recognize this and stop force feeding unity to all
ubuntu users, all newbies may run screaming back to windows after a bad
experience with unity and never come back.

There are too many issues that have cost too much of my time. I've
switched to gnome3 and it works like charm. As a bonus, the system seems
to be more responsive as well (under unity i sometimes got short freezes
for no apparent reason)

Good luck!

[Bug 888906] [NEW] sushi conflicts with search in nautilus

2011-11-11 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
Public bug reported:

Normally when typing text in nautilus a small entry box appears and the
selection will jump to the file with the 'best match' (i have no idea how to
call this feature)
With sushi installed, the spacebar will always do a preview, so it can no
longer be used in aforementioned feature. Also the backspace key will not
remove the last typed character, but make nautilus jump a folder higher.
sushi seems to not work nicely with nautilus...

[Bug 888906] Re: sushi conflicts with search in nautilus

2011-11-11 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
Ah yes:
What i expect to happen is that sushi will refrain from showing previews when
nautilus is 'jump searching' so the space- and backspace keys are not
intercepted by sushi.

[Bug 859723] Re: Nautilus appearance without colour or theme

2011-11-04 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
I too have the same issue but never installed Opera on my system. So I
don't think Opera somehow at the root of this bug.

Also the missing 'pixmap' modulepath error, but to me it seems they are
not related, because nautilus worked fine yesterday and the pixmap issue
was already present then.

[Bug 872219] Re: Applications lens disappears

2011-11-03 Thread S.O.E. Ansems
To Mikkel:

In my case the lens 'unity-applications-daemon' is not running and the command
'/usr/lib/unity-lens-applications/unity-applications-daemon' yielded no output
whatsoever. Nothing. It just hangs there waiting for the prompt to return. Is
there a log file i could look in to?
In another terminal i can confirm that it is running though and it does not use
much processor power. It does use 168m of virtual memory which i think is a lot
for such a simple task.

I've done a clean install on my system (after a full crash of
11.04-11.10 upgrade, it slowly spiralled out of control so that is
something else for canonical to look into)

The i've installed these PPA's to be able to run specific software packages:
http://extras.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates/ubuntu
http://ppa.launchpad.net/stebbins/handbrake-snapshots/ubuntu (the releases one
has no oneric release yet)
http://ppa.launchpad.net/ferramroberto/java/ubuntu
http://linux.dropbox.com/ubuntu
http://www.scootersoftware.com/
http://ppa.launchpad.net/webupd8team/gnome3/ubuntu

I have no other unity components installed nor any custom lenses

I do have installed the nvidia drivers version 285 manually, but that
was the first thing i did and the application lens worked fine in the
first few days after installation. Further changes related to the gui
i've made are the wobbly windows and a curved desktop overview (as
opposed to the simple flat one) i used ccsm for this.
