[Bug 43453] Re: manual ("something else") live cd partitioner doesn't understand lvm properly

2014-08-03 Thread Sampsa Riikonen
Same bug still in 14.04 LTS.. I installed ubuntu 13.10 on a brand new
laptop, and, silly me, I checked the LVM option.

Now, when trying to install 14.04 on top of 13.10 (I did an online "live
upgrade" from 13.10 to 14.04 but it broke my installation), the only
option I have, is to wipe out the entire disk.

.. that is because the 14.04 installer does not recognize LVM .. it says
that my laptop "has no detected OS"..!

Maybe the best option would be to remove the LVM possibility completely
from the installer .. or give adequate warnings, like "choosing this
option makes upgrading to a new ubuntu version impossible".

[Bug 1325956] [NEW] broken dependency in Avogadro

2014-06-03 Thread Sampsa Riikonen
Public bug reported:

The Avogadro program seems to have a broken dependency:

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~$ /usr/bin/avogadro
/usr/bin/avogadro: error while loading shared libraries:
libboost_python-py27.so.1.53.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~$ apt-cache search libboost-python
libboost-python-dev - Boost.Python Library development files (default version)
libboost-python1.54-dev - Boost.Python Library development files
libboost-python1.54.0 - Boost.Python Library
libboost-python1.55-dev - Boost.Python Library development files
libboost-python1.55.0 - Boost.Python Library

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~$ sudo apt-rdepends avogadro | grep boost
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
  Depends: libboost-python1.54.0
libboost-python1.54.0

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~$ dpkg-query -L avogadro | grep /usr/bin/
/usr/bin/avogadro
/usr/bin/avopkg

But ..

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~$ /usr/bin/avogadro
/usr/bin/avogadro: error while loading shared libraries:
libboost_python-py27.so.1.53.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

So the program is looking for "libboost_python-py27.so.1.53.0" even
though the dependency has been marked to version 1.54.0..!

[Bug 1325900] [NEW] libreoffice impress crashes when adding an mpeg animation

2014-06-03 Thread Sampsa Riikonen
Public bug reported:

A) How to reproduce the bug:

1) Open a fresh LibreOffice impress presentation
2) On the first slide, add an animation from: Insert => Movie and Sound
3) Choose an .mpeg animation from the file list
4) The first frame of the animation appears on the slide
5) From the appearing animation menu, you can "mingle" with it.. try playing
the animation, etc. It does not show.
6) Start the presentation by pressing F5
7) Click to exit the presentation
8) LibreOffice crashes

B) Command line shows the following:

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~/ubuntu$ libreoffice
Adding service 'Sampsa-XPS-13'
Object::connect: No such signal
org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceAdded(QDBusObjectPath)
Object::connect: No such signal
org::freedesktop::UPower::DeviceRemoved(QDBusObjectPath)
libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate
*** Error in `/usr/lib/libreoffice/program/soffice.bin': double free or
corruption (out): 0x7f3986ef58b0 ***

C) First occurrence of the bug

Problems started at some moment, when I updated online to the following version
of LibreOffice:
Version: 4.2.3.3
Build ID: 420m0(Build:3)
(that is reported from the program itself)
My KDE version is: 4.13.0

sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~/ubuntu$ apt-cache policy libreoffice
libreoffice:
  Installed: 1:4.2.3~rc3-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 1:4.2.3~rc3-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 1:4.2.3~rc3-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

D) I'm running on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
sampsa@Sampsa-XPS-13:~/ubuntu$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
Release:14.04

E) I think this bug is severe .. imagine you are on a conference trip and
suddenly all animations stopped working..! (I'm in a bit of a stew myself as
well at the moment)
