[Bug 1191563] Re: xserver-xorg-lts-raring cannot be installed due to unresolvable dependencies

2013-07-28 Thread Santiago.Batista
Thanks for yor quick comment. After playing a bit with apt-get I could
get a successful upgrade of the xserver too. Even though there is a
workaround, which simply consists on adding specific packages to the
'apt-get install' command, I don't know if this is something that should
be fixed in general... Again, thanks!

[Bug 1140716] Re: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic and 3.2.0-39-generic GPU hangs on Sandybridge

2013-07-18 Thread Santiago.Batista
Is it possible to assign this bug as affecting linux-lts-raring too? It
is correctly marked as fixed for linux-lts-quantal, but in a month from
now 12.04.3 will be out with a buggy kernel... Or am I wrong?

[Bug 1031449] Re: rhythmbox leaking memory

2013-06-21 Thread Santiago.Batista
I tested the fix. Although I don't claim it fixes all possible memory leaks,
the memory usage is substantially improved.
Using a given set of tracks the leakage went from ~90MB to only 5MB or so (and
it didn't increase past this value).
However, if cover-art is activated, the memory usage can be worse, as it seems
to load every image and keep it in memory. (This is minor though).

[Bug 1140716] Re: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic and 3.2.0-39-generic GPU hangs on Sandybridge

2013-04-11 Thread Santiago.Batista
I have installed kernel 3.5.0-28 from the -proposed repositories (12.04.2) and
have been using it for over a day, with no problems.
There is no "Fix committed" for linux-lts-quantal, so I am not sure if the
kernel in proposed is meant as a fix, or if it is simply the next kernel update
to come out in a few weeks.
In any case, so far so good.

What gave me a hint was the linked branch: lp:ubuntu/precise-proposed
/linux-lts-quantal... but again, no fix committed tag for linux-lts-
quantal.

I will post again if I encounter the bug with this kernel.

No problems here when running 3.5.0-27-generic_3.5.0-27.47~lp1140716
(provided by Brad Figg). I don't have any backlight problem and I
haven't experienced any weird resolution during the boot-up.

[Bug 1140716] Re: [regression] 3.5.0-26-generic GPU hangs

2013-03-22 Thread Santiago.Batista
@jsalisbury: Thanks for pointing to this kernel version. I have been able to
successfully test kernel v3.9-rc3 on Precise 12.04.2 (I am running with
quantal-lts xorg stack).
I have been running on it for ~ 3 hours so far with success. It usually took
some time for me to hit this bug on my Dell V131, so some more testing might be
required.
I will report back if I hit the bug again. So far so good.

[Bug 891642] Re: gnome-power-statistics shows bogus "Energy when full" value

2012-07-30 Thread Santiago.Batista
Hi,

I hope someone is still following this bug.

I have a fresh installation of Ubuntu 12.04, with all the updates done.
I own a Dell Vostro V131.

I too get the wrong "Energy when full" value, around 80 % of the time.

gnome-power-statistics shows the correct "Capacity" of the battery (91.8
%), and the correct "Energy (design)" (65.0 Wh) values.

However, when the battery is full, the value for "Energy when full" is
almost always 65.0 Wh. As soon as I unplug my computer, the battery
indicator shows 91 % of battery remaining.

This indicates that the battery indicator does indeed show the correct
battery percentage left, but when measured against the designed energy,
and NOT the energy when full, which is misleading.

On the other hand, at least this implies that it shows the correct
Remaining time.

Please let me know if you need more info. I hope what I wrote can help...

[Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)

2012-07-26 Thread Santiago.Batista
Hello everyone,

I have also been experiencing this bugs for quite some time now.

I just wanted to add to Eric Piel's comment, as I too experienced this
bug in a different situation, i.e. not after suspending my laptop.

I have a Dell Vostro, with intel graphics.

I sometimes use "xset dpms force off" to turn off my screen without
locking it nor suspending. Although I cannot reproduce the bug at will,
this is what I did:

1) Run "xset dpms force off"
2) Wait 10 minutes until the screen locks automatically
3) Type something on the keyboard to wake up the computer
4) Result: Screen turns on (the laptop was NOT suspended), but it is not blank,
I can see my desktop, but the mouse/keyboard can't interact with it. The mouse
changes to a cursor in the center of the screen, where the space to input the
password should be.

This is, hence, very similar in the result, as the mouse changes to a
cursor, but the screen cannot be unlocked. (I did try to put my password
to no avail).

Hope this helps to tackle this down. Sorry if it isn't too clear, let me know
if I should explain again anything.
Cheers

[Bug 439783] Re: Regression: devicekit-power does not display remaining battery time

2010-08-27 Thread Santiago.Batista
Hey everyone, I am not a Linux expert and like many of you I have had
this problem since 9.10 (I use a HP pavilion as many of you do, now
10.04, amd64),and I could not get my battery applet to show the
remaining/charge time.

Today I was trying out cairo-dock, and for my surprise it DID show the
time remaining (and charging time as well). I don't know if it
calculates the time remaining by its own method or if it gets this
information in the same way as the regular battery applet does.

Anyhow, I hope this works also for you... You will get the time
remaining until somebody can fix this bug. And if you know a little more
on how this actually works, maybe it could be a hint for solving it.

Cheers to everyone
