[Bug 151343] Re: taskbar showing programs running in other viewports

2007-10-21 Thread Sarangan Thuraisingham
I had the same problem, this is not a bug per se, more like a
misconfiguration. To fix this install 'compizconfig-settings-manager'
then you choose System -> Preferences -> Advanced Desktop Effects
Settings. In the Compiz Settings Manager, select "General Options" and
goto "Desktop Size". Set the "Horizontal Virtual Size" to 4 (or how many
ever desktops you want) and set the "Number of Desktops" to 1.

Now the taskbar functions as expected and shows only the windows that
are visible in the current workspace.

[Bug 235894] [NEW] Drawer in gnome-panel seems to be stuck in a infinite loop

2008-05-29 Thread Sarangan Thuraisingham
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

I have a drawer in my top gnome-panel, which in turn has three other
drawers (referred to as "secondary drawers hereafter). Expanding the
main drawer will reveal the icons for the other drawers. I can expand
the secondary-level of drawers and select an application from them. When
I do so all the drawers will be collapsed as expected. The next time I
click on the main drawer, it should expand and show all the secondary
drawers as being expanded (as that's how it was before selecting an
app). All this worked fine in Gutsy, Feisty, etc.

I upgraded to Hardy and now when I expand the main drawer as mentioned
above, gnome-panel eats a lot of CPU and none of the drawers are shown.
Another thing I noticed with the new version of drawer is that, it is
animated. So I guess somewhere, the animation of the main drawer
expanding/dropping and the secondary drawers expanding, is clashing and
causing an infinite loop.

[Bug 8839] Re: rhythmbox tag edition has issues with gst0.10

2006-11-23 Thread Sarangan Thuraisingham
Banshee is using taglib-sharp to read the tags and may be that is why it can
read the incorrectly encoded metadata. Apparently this is a known issue with
gst0.10
as mentioned on Aaron Bockover's blog
http://abock.org/2006/10/30/cracking-down-on-heap-abuse-part-2/

2006-11-25 Thread Sarangan Thuraisingham
Sebastien, you may be right. I was editing the tags of few more files.
This time the tags were all in English and normal ASCII encoding. Some
of the file changes were saved and others weren't. That's when gstreamer
crashed.

No this bug seems to be fixed in Fiesty / Rhythmbox 0.10.0 release. I
can edit and save Mp3 metadata in UTF-8. Cheers for the bugfix.

Another thing I noticed with the new version of drawer is that, it is
animated. So I guess somewhere, the animation of the main drawer
expanding/dropping and the secondary drawers expanding, is clashing and
causing an infinite loop.

gnome-panel:
  Installed: 1:2.22.1.3-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:2.22.1.3-0ubuntu1
