[Bug 1239578] Re: No wireless support for Realtek RTL8192EE [10ec:818b]

2014-07-31 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
The driver is working fairly stable for me, I also have problems with
suspend/wakeup but two things usually help me solve that:

* It is usually only a problem if I want to re-connect to the same WIFi.
If I switch from one to another, it works without a problem in most
cases. In case of the portable WiFi hotspot on my phone, it is even
enough to just disable and enable it again. No chance to connect without
that, works immediately after that. That might help to find the problem
here?

* If that is not an option, it often helps to (repeatedly) kill the
NetworkManager, then it usually works again.

[Bug 517459] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV

2010-02-06 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
I do have Dropbox installed, which contains a nautilus extension. I
assume it is possible that the crash happened in that extension, that
would explain why the retracer does not have the debug symbols for
that...

Will try to reproduce manually and if it doesn't work out. set the state
to won't fix.

[Bug 513890] Re: Suspend on Dell Inspiron 9400 broke in Lucid devel

2010-01-28 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
Similiar thing for me, on a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with a Quadro NVS 140M.

Suspend works perfectly but when I try to resume, it just displays some
strange colors in different sized squares. Services and so on seem to
run fine as it reconnets WLAN and so on so I suspect it's a graphic
driver issue, which is the latest nvidia driver (190.53).

[Bug 262043] Re: Upgrade to latest Kernel 2.6.27.1 (Intrepid Alhpa_4) crashes on loading OS

2008-10-06 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
I have the same problem. On every version change of the kernel, my
nvidia module gets broken. It simply creates the nvidia.ko only for the
active kernel.

I have just upgraded to 2.6.27-5-generic, dkms was called and didn't
report any errors, but your find command only shows:

/lib/modules/2.6.27-4-generic/updates/dkms/nvidia.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.26-2-generic/kernel/drivers/video/nvidia.ko
/lib/modules/last-good-boot/updates/dkms/nvidia.ko

I tried to completely remove all nvidia related stuff and re-installing
it, but it doesn't help

[Bug 255008] Re: Up arrow key mapped to Print [screen]

2008-09-29 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
I am on a thinkpad t61 with swiss keyboard layout.

Until yesterday i still had this bug, all the mentioned workarounds
and/or updates didn't solved my problem (Actually i had this bug at the
beginning, then it was solved (by changing xorg.conf if I remember
correctly) and came up again a few weeks later).

Today, I updated my system and after a restart the problem seems to be
gone... No idea why. Were there any changes to the related packages?

[Bug 259549] Re: update sierra driver

2008-08-29 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
I am already on 2.6.27 and it seems to work fine. Actually, I didn't
even rembered the issue so I just updated my kernel with apt-get and
continued to use the modem. Great :)

I still have some problems with the bandwith. It seems always to go down
to only approx 500-5000B/s even when I have a very good connection. It
start's with 200+ Kb/s and after a few seconds, it is down to 500 B/s or
so. I have however no idea what the problem is, the only thing I know is
that a dont have *this* problem on windows vista (there are other funny
problems there, however :) )

Any ideas/suggestions? I have the same problem with pppd scripts and
umtsmon. NetworkManager don't recognise my modem and Gnome PPP doesn't
accept my init strings.

2008-08-29 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
Hmm... forget it, it seems that this only happened whith apt-get and the
default server... i changed my sources.list to the swiss mirror and my
bandwith stays stable now.

I'll close this bug.

[Bug 259549] [NEW] update sierra driver

2008-08-19 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.26

Last weekend, I got a fancy new Sierra Wireless Compass 885 HSUPA 3G
modem (which is great btw :) )

As a found out, there is a GPL linux driver (sierra), which is included
by default in the ubuntu kernel (I don't know if this belongs to the
standard kernel or is added by debian/ubuntu). Unfortunatly, the default
version provided by the kernel is an outdated version, which does not
support my new modem.

The new version is aviable at: (the 2.6.25 version seems to work fine together
with 2.6.26)
http://www.sierrawireless.com/faq/ShowFAQ.aspx?ID=1129

For testing purposes, I compiled the new version and my modem was
correctly recognized and I got it working. However, I just overwrote the
existing sierra file, so this will stop working with the next linux
kernel update...

I am using intrepid with the newest kernel:
Linux ubuntu-thinkpad 2.6.26-5-generic #1 SMP Fri Aug 15 13:54:22 UTC 2008
x86_64 GNU/Linux

It would be great if the module would be updated...

[Bug 255724] [NEW] alt gr (right alt) is mapped to enter

2008-08-07 Thread Sascha Grossenbacher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-evdev

I updated to intrepid and now is the Alt Gr-Key (right alt) mapped to
enter, changing the Third Level Chooser option does not change that,
however, i can successfully activate the left alt key as third level
chooser-key.

As I just found out, my arrow keys are also not working anymore. nothing
happens if I push them...
