[Bug 544952] Re: Cannot read from DVD drive
It seems to have been a transient hardware issue; while rebooting to the karmic kernel fixed the read errors for a little while, the drive stopped working again soon after (to the point where it was claiming to be a "DWDRAM"). In 2.6.32-16-generic, I got a lot of IO errors when trying to read a dvd
(it seemed to mount fine). When the same dvd was read in
2.6.31-20-generic, the disc seemed fine.

Is this related to 7d930bc33653d5592dc386a76a38f39c2e962344? Apparently there were reports of problems after deauthenticating that were fixed by reverting that commit. Whether it's related to that commit or not, I'm seeing a very similar problem with 2.6.31-15-generic.
