[Bug 1870627] [NEW] Cannot change symbols in charts in LibreOffice Calc 6.4
Public bug reported: After the upgrade to LO 6.4 in Kubuntu 20.04, it is not possible to change the symbols used to identify points in charts created in Calc. I have filed a bug report with LO, but thought I would mention it here as well. The symbols used seem to be chosen at random. I've gotten boxes and triangles and cannot change them to my preferred symbol, the plus sign. I've used LO for years and have never encountered this problem before. [Bug 1860695] [NEW] 20.04 often have no panel and default desktop
Public bug reported: I have 20.04 running on a couple of different machines. Sometimes when I have a problem of some sort and reboot, I'll have a desktop with the default wallpaper and no panel. This happened this morning after I had a networking problem. Adding a panel by right-clicking the desktop does not work. Usually the only fix is to delete the .kde, .config, .cache, and .local directories from my $HOME. Needless to say this is a royal pita. When I have this problem I can display the available windows with Alt-F4; they appear in a panel on the left-hand side of the screen. I've tried to determine just where the problem lies but without much success. I run a pretty vanilla setup with just a custom wallpaper and customized program menu. This has happened so frequently to me in the past couple of weeks that I expected to see a bug report filed already. ** Affects: ubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1860695 Title: 20.04 often have no panel and default desktop To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-meta/+bug/1860695/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1849978] [NEW] Cannot see full display in VirtualBox
Public bug reported: I created a VirtualBox VM on Kubuntu 19.04, then installed Kubuntu 19.10 to the VM. The installer window is cut off on the right-hand side which means the Next or equivalent action button is not visible. I tabbed through each screen to where I thought the Next button was and hit Return. This method worked, but I shouldn't need to do this. Both the host and guest machines are vanilla. My physical display is an Acer H236HL running at 1440x900. The virtual display is, I believe, 640x480. [Bug 1835812] [NEW] apcupsd.conf has bad DEVICE parameter
Public bug reported: The default copy of /etc/apcupsd/apcupsd.conf contains the lines UPSTYPE usb DEVICE /dev/ttyS0 These are incompatible with each other. Since hardly anyone is using /dev/ttyS0 these days to communicate with these devices, it should be edited to DEVICE with a blank entry. That will force the software to auto-detect the UPS. I kept thinking I had a bad cable or bad UPS port on the device since it would never connect. The comments in apcupsd.conf read: # usb Most new UPSes are USB. [Bug 690911] Re: Installation without formatting fails to remove old kernels
An ever bigger problem is that the installer leaves behind all the stale kernels in /boot. I can see keeping the most recent good kernel, and even perhaps the next-oldest version, but kernels older than that should be removed by ubiquity. If you allocate /boot to a separate partition, as I do, even a reasonably-sized boot partition (say 256 MB) can fill up if you're running a development release. I've been running Kubuntu 12.04b2 for a while now, and this morning had half-a-dozen kernel images in /boot. All the space was consumed, and the installer was unable to build a matching initrd image. It would also result in a much cleaner set of options in the list at boot. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/690911 Title: Installation without formatting fails to remove old kernels To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/690911/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 976071] [NEW] Muon Software Center needs "technical items" option
Public bug reported: Kubuntu 12.04b2 The division of Muon into separate "Package Manager" and "Software Center" applications creates unnecessary confusion for experienced users. This problem came to my attention when responding to a thread at UbuntuForums from someone trying to locate the NFS client. Searching the Software Center for "nfs" brings up only a Java-based FTP client with no ability to ferret out "nfs-common" or "nfs-kernel-server". Opening a thread at the forums about this made it clear that the KDE implementation of Ubuntu's Software Center application leaves out an important feature. The Ubuntu application offers an option to browse additional "technical items" from the repositories as well as the limited offerings displayed in the list from Software Center. I can't find any comparable feature in KDE's implementation of this application. There most definitely needs to be a method for browsing all applications available from the repositories in the Software Center application, or else it and the Package Manager application need to be merged somehow. As it stands now, experienced users like me will need to bounce back and forth between the SC and PM applications to find a needed package. [Bug 933723] Re: resolvconf creating bogus resolv.conf file
I get the exact same behavior on the Kubuntu Precise desktop beta, though bind9 is not installed. I end up with the resolv.conf posted by the OP with 127.0.0.1 as the nameserver. I cannot override this even with static DNS settings in Kubuntu's network configuration. When the network starts, the manager ignores both the DNS settings on my DHCP- serving router and any static nameserver and search list entries I provide via network configuration. The notion that bind9 would be installed by default on ordinary client machines is ludicrous. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933723 Title: resolvconf creating bogus resolv.conf file To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bind9/+bug/933723/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 921590] Re: Kubuntu 12.04 will not hibernate on ASUS EeePC 1201n
I'm not having much luck with that kernel, I'm afraid, Joseph. It throws a bunch of errors during boot. Right after the line that begins "Pid: 0. comm: swapper/2" I get execution errors. The machine never boots. I'm going to try a fresh installation of Kubuntu 12.04 from daily-live on a spare partition and see how that works out. If I can get that to boot properly, and still have hibernation problems, I'll upgrade the kernel if necessary to 030200 and see if that fixes it. I'll let you know. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/921590 Title: Kubuntu 12.04 will not hibernate on ASUS EeePC 1201n To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/921590/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 921590] Re: Kubuntu 12.04 will not hibernate on ASUS EeePC 1201n
One other weird side-effect of this problem is that, when I reboot, I seem to be missing one of my two GB of memory. I can fix this problem by going to into setup and resetting the BIOS.The apport-collect results that I submitted represent one of these low-memory situations. If you'd like me to rerun apport-collect with the memory as it should be, just let me know. In fact, I've had persistent issues with the BIOS setup on this machine if I try to put it into sleep or hibernation. Often when I restart I'll end up at the screen which asks me to hit F2 and reset the BIOS to its defaults before it will boot. Sometimes it skips entirely over the BIOS screen and goes directly to the grub menu even when I've shutdown the machine correctly. In these cases, I can force it to go into BIOS setup by powering off then holding down F2 and powering up again. I've been willing to write off these anomalies when it seemed that power management was working correctly. Now I'm wondering if they are not all of a piece.
