[Bug 402016] [NEW] Connection to Windows Server VPN is stuck after ~16KB are received
Public bug reported: On Jaunty my VPN configurations (done entirely through Network Manager) worked as expected. After upgrading to Karmic, the following happens. The connection starts as it used to, and succeeds. Then, I started some network-intensive process, such as smbclient or rdesktop. Public bug reported: There are multiple issues with printing in Ubuntu 8.10, irrespective of software used (Firefox 3, OO.org 2.4, Evince 2.24.1): 1. Some documents cannot be printed: the printer consumes the job, without producing any output. 2. Only first page of some documents (pdf, HTML, odt, doc) can be printed from any software. 3. Only first page of some documents (HTML, odt, doc) can be printed to ps/pdf from firefox or exported to pdf from OO.org. I have observed this issue on both amd64 and x86 versions with multiple different printers (including virtual ones, like "print to file"). The attachment contains 3 files: DOC.doc - the original document that cannot be printed (the printer consumes it without any output). ODT.odt - same document, but saved as ODT. Same result. PDF.pdf - the result of "export as PDF" of DOC.doc / ODT.odt. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu 8.10 printing is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/326949 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I think this happened with both 8.33.6 and 8.28.8. I can try downgrading to an older driver, but I'm not sure how that downgrade is supposed to work with the currently installed kernel. Or should I downgrade the kernel too to try older fglrx? Thanks! [Bug 268405] Re: thunderbird-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in PL_DHashTableOperate()
Summary: Thunderbird crashes trying to complete sending a message initiated by Firefox's Send Link menu item. Steps to reproduce: 1. Close Thunderbird, make sure there are no Thunderbird processes running; 2. Open (or switch to an open instance of) Firefox; 3. Go to any site, select File->Send Link; 4. Thunderbird will start and new email message window will appear; 5. Go to a different site (or tab) in Firefox, select File->Send Link again. Expected Result: new message windows are usable and email messages in them can be sent successfully. Actual Result: Thunderbird process crashes. With those instructions I was able to reproduce the bug, but in current versions I can't (latest Firefox 3.0.4, Thunderbird 2.0.0.17 and just upgraded 2.0.0.18, Ubuntu 8.10 as of 2008-11-26) everything works. It's spe 0.8.4c-1~hardy1 now and the problem appears to be gone after I reinstalled winpdb directly. [Bug 121228] Re: Segfault retrieving passphrase for WiFi network
I also thought originally that this is a network-manager issue, but it's actually gnome-keyring who's at fault here. gnome-keyring and libgnome- keyring0 were recently upgraded in gutsy to 2.19.4.1 from 0.8.1. The latest network-manager from gutsy works great with the old version, but breaks down completely for me with the new one. Even when I applied a workaround mentioned here, wireless connections only lasted a few seconds before breaking up, and network-manager was segfaulting constantly. So, I went to packages.ubuntu.org, downloaded libgnome-keyring0 and gnome-keyring for feisty, and downgraded them. Everything is back to normal now. Some of the symptoms of network-manager 0.6.5's differences in communication between keyring 0.8.1 and 2.19.4.1. When I login, I'm normally prompted for my keyring password only. With the latest gutsy version 2.19.4.1, I was instead prompted to "Deny, Allow once, Allow always" for nm-applet. network-manager would then crash. It only "worked" when I had keyring-manager application open at the same time, and even then it would try to connect unsuccessfully for a long time or connect and then crash or disconnect immediately. I'm using WPA2 PSK (AES) with Atheros non-GPL driver (madwifi). -- Segfault retrieving passphrase for WiFi network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121228 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This one is from 2008-10-02 with whatever kernel was the latest at the time. The machine still hangs after long periods of idleness (hours, sometimes days), but I can't catch the moment before things have gone wrong (new apps not opening and existing not working) but at the same time it's still possible to capture dmesg output. ** Attachment added: "dmesg4.log" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/18550560/dmesg-20081002.log -- general protection fault: [*] SMP in drm_open_helper, seq_open, inotify_init, rtnl_dump_ifinfo, call_usermodehelper_setup, get_UCSname, d_alloc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hardy kernels never had these symptoms on the same machine, so yes, the problems started with 2.6.27 from Intrepid. I haven't tried memtest, will do that and post here if something is wrong. -- general protection fault: [*] SMP in drm_open_helper, seq_open, inotify_init, rtnl_dump_ifinfo, call_usermodehelper_setup, get_UCSname, d_alloc https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/272856 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Solved. [Bug 275051] Re: totem-gstreamer-video-indexer crashed with SIGSEGV in init_vlc_rl()
I'd appreciate if the bug is kept private. As for the file, it was a partial Transmission download.
