[Bug 305121] [NEW] Ubuntu sets up a printer automatically but it doesn't work

2008-12-04 Thread Sesivany
Public bug reported:

i bought HP LJ1006. When I plugged it in Ubuntu set it up automatically and
told me that the printer was ready to print. But that wasn't true. Some HP
printers needs proprietary firmware to work. But Ubuntu looked like everything
was OK. That's why I was looking for the problem everywhere but the driver. I
tried a new cabel. I called a HP support etc. After two days of looking for the
solution, I found somewhere on the internet that my printer could be set up
just with hp-setup which downloads proprietary firmware. Then the printer
started working.
In brief: The problem is that Ubuntu says everything is set up and the printer
is ready to print but it's not true and it makes people confused. Because they
can't have an idea where the problem is.

[Bug 120258] Re: Laptop Battery Time Remaining Outrageously Inaccurate

2008-12-04 Thread Sesivany
I think the problem is that gnome-power-manager takes the value from the
battery. For example LiOn batteries tend to report lower times if they
were stressed by higher energy consumption for a short time. I think we
will get more accurate values if gnome-power-manager calculates the
remaining time from the remaining energy and the current consumption (or
weighted average of consumption values for 5, 10, 15 minutes while
lastest value has the highest weight).

[Bug 288900] Re: A problem with uuid while booting after updates

2009-01-15 Thread Sesivany
Hi,
I consulted this problem with other guys on Ubuntu forum. The problem occured
on some computers during beta updates. Yes, it was a week before the finale
release and it was annoying. I had to boot in failsafe mode and then choose the
normal boot. I didn't know how to solve it so i reinstalled my system.
I'm pretty sure it was a problem which occured just after that update and
doesn't occur on new instalations. I have nothing to add, so I think you can
close this bug report.

[Bug 155376] Google Earth doesn't work with Compiz/XGL

2007-10-21 Thread Sesivany
Public bug reported:

When I start Google Earth it gets frozen on splash (100% CPU until I kill it).
It worked well but after I upgraded to Gutsy Gibbon and started to run

[Bug 113711] xine-based apps don't load any subtitles

2007-05-09 Thread Sesivany
Public bug reported:

When I had Ubuntu 6.06 Kaffeine works with subtitles without problems but then
I installed (clear installation with old /home) Ubuntu 7.04 in which Kaffeine
doesn't load any subtitles. I've tried all possibilities in preferences but no
success (subtitle preferences, video output,...). Of course the subtitle file
has the same name as video file but Kaffeine doesn't even show a window to
choose a subtitle file as it used to do.
I've also tried other xine-based apps (Totem, Codein, Xine-ui, Gxine). No one
(excepting Totem) has loaded subtitles. That's why I think it's a problem of
xine. Totem can load subtitles but I can't change their size. I change it in
preferences but Totem doesn't change them.
I've read Czech Ubuntu forum and I've seen that many people have had the same
problem.
P.S. I tried to remove all files in /.xine but without success.

Compiz/XGL, Google Earth stopped working.
My graphical card is ATI Radeon 9700 Mobility and I use proprietary drivers.
I know there are some problems with 3D application while XGL running but it's
annoying problem.

[Bug 287805] [NEW] Pulseaudio can't be simply removed

2008-10-22 Thread Sesivany
Public bug reported:

In Hardy, you could simply uninstall pulseaudio and use ALSA and
everything works fine. Pulseadio doesn't have any advantage for most
users but in Intrepid, you cannot remove it. If I removed pulseaudio I
couldn't ge to my account. Instead of the session manager, PulseAudio is
executed by starting scripts. If you uninstall pulseaudio, starting
script cannot execute it and report an error. That's why you can't
launch a new session without pulseaudio. And I think it's a bug.

xine. Totem can load subtitles but I can't change their size. I change it in
preferences but Totem doesn't change them.
I've read Czech Ubuntu forum and I've seen that many people have had the same
problem.
P.S. I tried to remove all files in /.xine but without success.

[Bug 285183] [NEW] There are no icons and panels after idle

2008-10-17 Thread Sesivany
Public bug reported:

I have a laptop T61 which has an integrated graphical card X3100. When
my notebook go idle I find a screen only with wallpaper. No icons and
panels, but there is an mouse coursor which is moveable. I can't do
anything, just hard restart. I can't switch to another runlevel, I can't
restart X server. It didn't occur in Hardy but it uccurs in Intrepid. I
don't know whether it's caused by some bug in a driver or X server or
Compiz. I attach a log from X.org.

I solved this bug when I removed all configuration files from /home. It
was propably messed up during an upgrade (even though it was "clear

[Bug 287805] [NEW] Pulseaudio can't be simply removed

2008-10-22 Thread Sesivany
Public bug reported:

In Hardy, you could simply uninstall pulseaudio and use ALSA and
everything works fine. Pulseadio doesn't have any advantage for most
users but in Intrepid, you cannot remove it. If I removed pulseaudio I
couldn't ge to my account. Instead of the session manager, PulseAudio is
executed by starting scripts. If you uninstall pulseaudio, starting
script cannot execute it and report an error. That's why you can't
launch a new session without pulseaudio. And I think it's a bug.
Pulseaudio doesn't still work with Skype properly.

[Bug 113711] xine-based apps don't load any subtitles

Public bug reported:

I installed (clear installation with old /home) Ubuntu 7.04 in which Kaffeine
doesn't load any subtitles. I've tried all possibilities in preferences but no
success (subtitle preferences, video output,...). Of course the subtitle file
has the same name as video file but Kaffeine doesn't even show a window to
choose a subtitle file as it used to do.
