[Bug 305121] [NEW] Ubuntu sets up a printer automatically but it doesn't work
Public bug reported: i bought HP LJ1006. When I plugged it in Ubuntu set it up automatically and told me that the printer was ready to print. But that wasn't true. Some HP printers needs proprietary firmware to work. But Ubuntu looked like everything was OK. That's why I was looking for the problem everywhere but the driver. I tried a new cabel. I called a HP support etc. After two days of looking for the solution, I found somewhere on the internet that my printer could be set up just with hp-setup which downloads proprietary firmware. Then the printer started working. In brief: The problem is that Ubuntu says everything is set up and the printer is ready to print but it's not true and it makes people confused. I think the problem is that gnome-power-manager takes the value from the battery. Because they can't have an idea where the problem is. ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ubuntu sets up a printer automatically but it doesn't work https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/305121 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 120258] Re: Laptop Battery Time Remaining Outrageously Inaccurate
I think the problem is that gnome-power-manager takes the value from the battery. For example LiOn batteries tend to report lower times if they were stressed by higher energy consumption for a short time. I think we will get more accurate values if gnome-power-manager calculates the remaining time from the remaining energy and the current consumption (or weighted average of consumption values for 5, 10, 15 minutes while lastest value has the highest weight). -- Laptop Battery Time Remaining Outrageously Inaccurate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120258 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 288900] Re: A problem with uuid while booting after updates
Hi, I consulted this problem with other guys on Ubuntu forum. The problem occured on some computers during beta updates. Yes, it was a week before the finale release and it was annoying. I had to boot in failsafe mode and then choose the normal boot. I didn't know how to solve it so i reinstalled my system. I'm pretty sure it was a problem which occured just after that update and doesn't occur on new instalations. [Bug 59695] Re: default value in power.sh potentially kills laptop disks
I had the same problem. I tried workarounds written above but nothing helped. Haddisk made one cycle in every second minute when running on battery. Then I turn off laptop mode and now it's OK. And I don't recognize any difference between running with laptop mode and without laptop mode. [Bug 113711] xine-based apps don't load any subtitles
Public bug reported: When I had Ubuntu 6.06 Kaffeine works with subtitles without problems but then I installed (clear installation with old /home) Ubuntu 7.04 in which Kaffeine doesn't load any subtitles. I've tried all possibilities in preferences but no success (subtitle preferences, video output,...). Of course the subtitle file has the same name as video file but Kaffeine doesn't even show a window to choose a subtitle file as it used to do. I've also tried other xine-based apps (Totem, Codein, Xine-ui, Gxine). No one (excepting Totem) has loaded subtitles. That's why I think it's a problem of xine. Totem can load subtitles but I can't change their size. I change it in preferences but Totem doesn't change them. I've read Czech Ubuntu forum and I've seen that many people have had the same problem. P.S. I tried to remove all files in /.xine but without success. ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- xine-based apps don't load any subtitles https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/113711 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
