[Bug 813482] Re: hp laserjet M1136 MFP is detected as CDROM drive
Hi Dhiraj, Smart Installer is enabled in your device. If this is enabled, your device will be detected as CDRom from where you can install the software on windows. Unfortunately we don't support this feature in Linux. If you disable this feature on device, your device will be detected in Linux. To disable this you should have a windows machine and can follow the below steps. 1. Download the Full Driver for Windows from www.hp.com or http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=4075452&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us 2. Run the exe, extract it to a folder. 3. Go to extracted folder/UTIL directory 4. Connect your device. 5. Run SIUtility.exe and follow the wizard to disable the feature. [Bug 782441] [NEW] pyversions unable to detect python version if "python" is added as a update-alternative option
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python-minimal Version: Ubuntu 11.04 Ubuntu 11.04 comes with Python 2.7 as the default. Because of a tool requiring Python 2.6, I installed Python 2.6 side-by-side Python 2.7 and made it the default :) Now, Ubuntu Software Center does not work, because it requires Python 2.7. So, I used update-alternatives and added "python" and its derivatives for switching between the two versions. Its terrible... Now the real problem, the /usr/share/python/pyversions.py as well as /usr/share/pycentral-data/pyversions.py, reads the link pointing to /usr/bin/python to get the default python version. But after adding python as update-alternative option, this link does not point to /usr/bin/python2.7 or /usr/bin/python2.6. Instead points to /etc/alternatives/python which then points to the actual python executable. I suppose that reading the link is not the correct way to determine the python version. Instead, the actual python command should be executed to get the version (that code is actually present in pyversions.py as an exception handler). ** Affects: python-defaults (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/782441 Title: pyversions unable to detect python version if "python" is added as a update-alternative option -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I took the kernel from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/pub/next/2.6.27-rc3/ There's a Hardy as well as an Intrepid version. I can test the Live CD, but the reason I installed this kernel was to resolve an earlier issue I had with hotdocking in the 2.6.24 (bug 163211) In any case, the new kernel solves that problem on the Thinkpad X61s. I don't know if this is relevant, but alsa-base and linux-sound-base versions are 1.0.16-0, while alsa-utils is 1.0.15-3 lspci output: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 03) [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# aplay -l List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices card 0: pcsp [pcsp], device 0: pcspeaker [pcsp] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: AD198x Analog [AD198x Analog] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: AD198x Digital [AD198x Digital] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~# lsmod | grep snd snd_seq_dummy 10884 0 snd_seq_oss38528 0 snd_seq_midi 14336 0 snd_rawmidi29312 1 snd_seq_midi snd_seq_midi_event 15104 2 snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi snd_seq57136 6 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_seq_midi_event snd_seq_device 15244 5 snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_seq_midi,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq snd_pcm_oss48256 0 snd_mixer_oss 23040 1 snd_pcm_oss snd_hda_intel 385584 0 snd_pcsp 17952 4 snd_pcm84740 4 snd_pcm_oss,snd_hda_intel,snd_pcsp snd_timer 30344 3 snd_seq,snd_pcm snd62756 16 snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_seq_device,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_hda_intel,snd_pcsp,snd_pcm,snd_timer soundcore 15328 1 snd snd_page_alloc 16264 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm Please let me know if further information is required. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 2.6.27-1 alsa -- sound broken with new kernel in hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267919 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 267844] [NEW] Wireless does not work after suspend on X61s notebook
Public bug reported: I installed the 2.6.27-1 kernel in Hardy, and I'm having trouble with my wireless. It works fine after a fresh boot, however, after waking up from suspend, it doesn't see any wireless networks. I cannot connect to any network from the command line either. The following steps seem to solve the problem: Before suspend, I stop the networking daemon and remove the ath5k module. After waking up from suspend, I add the ath5k module and restart the networking daemon. It then is able to scan and connect to networks. There seems to be no difference in the lsmod output before and after suspend. I've attached my lspci and lsmod outputs. Please let me know if you need further info and I'll put it up. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Wireless does not work after suspend on X61s notebook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267844 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 267831] [NEW] Hibernate does not work on X61s notebook
Public bug reported: I installed the 2.6.27-1 rc3 kernel onto Hardy. It solved some issues I had with the 24 kernel (hot-docking), but I can't hibernate now. It doesn't complain during hibernation, but it gets stuck during wake up. I don't know what logs to include; please let me know what you need and I'll post it. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hibernate does not work on X61s notebook https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/267831 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 163211] Re: Vaio VGN-SZ3XWP docking station cant hot dock/undock.
Hi, The rc3 version of 2.6.27-1 solves the docking problem for me. The distro is still hardy. But the kernel comes with other problems... wireless doesn't work after a suspend. Re: [Bug 189185] Re: Thinkpad X61 hangs when removing from dock
The thinwiki solution works for me: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_hotswap_UltraBay_devices To dock, echo 0 0 0 > /sys/class/scsi_host/host1/scan (or whatever host number your DVD drive is). To undock, echo 1 > /sys/class/scsi_device/1:0:0:0/device/delete ("1" corresponds to host"1" above"). This undock solution still leads to a crash during suspend/hibernate. To get around that, remove the dock and run the dock command. You effectively scan for a non-existent device but it allows suspend/hibernate. [Bug 207549] [NEW] Hot docking not possible with Thinkpad X61
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-source-2.6.22 This is very similar to bug #163211. I have Xubuntu Gutsy installed on a Thinkpad X61. If I boot up with the docking station, the CD and DVD drive (part of the dock) works fine. If I try to attach the dock after booting up, the OS doesn't see the optical drive. There is no problem with the USB ports in the dock, though. I haven't checked to see if the problem persists with Hardy. ** Affects: linux-source-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Hot docking not possible with Thinkpad X61 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/207549 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
