As this issue is more than just annoying, is there anybody who knows if
and when this will be fixed in 22.04.4 ?

[Bug 2059847] Re: Input lag or freezes on Nvidia desktops with X11 after logging "MetaSyncRing: Sync object is not ready -- were events handled properly?"

2024-04-10 Thread Thierry MACHICOANE
Running "journalctl -b0 | grep MetaSyncRing", I confirm having this bug,
which appeared roughly 2 w-ago after classical update.

This implies lack of responsiveness (up to 2 seconds lags) in terminal
as well as in GUI, especially when dragging objects, scrolling, double-
clicking and so on.

Configuration:
 * 6.5.0-27-generic #28~22.04.1-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Fri Mar 15 10:51:06
UTC 2 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

[Bug 2060206] [NEW] No Sound on my Samsung NP950QED Laptop Speakers

2024-04-05 Thread Thierry Marchisio
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Yesterday I have installed Ubuntu 23.10 on my laptop Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro
NP950QED for the first time.
I never heard any sound from my laptop since the installation of Ubuntu. It
worked with Microsoft Windows.

I spent the whole day on many forums, alsa-project.org... Nothing worked yet.
Every time I try a new configuration, I test both left and right speakers in
the Settings application.

You can find my Ubuntu Alsa configuration in the file attached generared
by alsa-info.sh

Thank you for your help !

2021-01-26 Thread Thierry FAUCK
When I reach the FILE SYSTEM SUMMARY panel and say 'continue' I get the 'an
error occured during installation' message within a minute.
I was running the parameters : snap refresh subiquity
--channel=edge/mwhudson-hack
I didn't apply to update to the new version of the installer as I believe it
would override the previous parameter. I wait for 5mn at FILE SYSTEM SUMMARY
and nothing happen, so it sound slike it is when I validate the problem
occures. Attached you'll find content of crash.

Currently only sane-escl supports PDF. My PDF solution is not perfect (I use
Poppler).
I resumed development when I realized that sane-airscan would not merge with
Sane.
As a reminder, Sane is a free project, you just have to propose a pull-request
to integrate the project.

[Bug 1891682] Re: [MIR] sane-airscan

2020-09-30 Thread Thierry Ordissimo
Hi Till,

The escl backend is not abandoned!
It is being maintained and will continue to be maintained as long as
sane-airscan does not offer the full functionality of the escl backend.
Support for the escl backend is complete, ADF, Brightness, Threshold, Sharpen
and Contrast.
Some devices require PDF to work.
Unix socket support is present.

[Bug 1871573] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad P1 Gen 2] HDMI port can't be found

2020-06-18 Thread Thierry Bossy
Hi,

I have a very similar problem and noticed the following:
My external display is working with Nvidia "Performance Mode" only. In
"On-demand" mode, I have a black screen that it is not detected in Ubuntu
system settings, although it is detected by Nvidia X Server Settings.
As if we needed a parameter in On-demand to force HDMI interface to start with
Nvidia card and not Intel.

Any hints about this?

@Igor, are you sure that you are in "On Demand" mode? I realized that it
automatically switches to "Performance Mode" when we change the driver.

Thanks,
Thierry

[Bug 1827162] Re: "vio vio: uevent: failed to send synthetic uevent" errors on ppc64el

2019-06-11 Thread Thierry FAUCK
Yes, the devices are effectively missing on the systems - the
explanation is said that there's a dummy vio (ie, powervm) bus created,
but since it's not in use you get this message. The message should be
harmless, but ideally we should be able to just get rid of it This
message has been around for a while.

Furthermore, I looked for the postinst script and found out that it's
just the « grub-install » command which fails.

root@ingatech-XPS-13-9343:~# LC_ALL=C grub-install

Could not delete variable: Invalid argument

The attached file is a dump of a grub-install -v

Hope this helps...

I confirm that Ubuntu is installed and I can access it through the
Recovery mode. all checks says everything is correct but I got stuck
after I keyed in my password to open my session. Screens are like a
multicolor set of parallel lines (I use two screens but starting with
one only do not resolve the issue).
I may then install other kernels through the recovery mode using a

[Bug 1712798] Re: login return to login screen if APT::Install-Recommends=false

2017-10-25 Thread Thierry B.
After some trials and errors, I found the culprit. The is only ONE
package missing to open the session normally :

gsettings-ubuntu-schemas

So the conclusion is : if it is needed to properly open an X session
then it SHOULD be a true dependency from another package, not just a
recommended package.

Currently in artful gsettings-ubuntu-schemas is a dependency of the
following packages:

$ apt-cache rdepends gsettings-ubuntu-schemas
gsettings-ubuntu-schemas
Reverse Depends:
  unity
  unity-settings-daemon
  unity-control-center
  indicator-sound
  indicator-datetime
  gsettings-ubuntu-touch-schemas
  ubuntu-desktop

In this list no package is installed except ubuntu-desktop, and it is
the only package in this list that set gsettings-ubuntu-schemas as a
recommended packages.

So TMHO, gsettings-ubuntu-schemas SHOULD BE

[Bug 1710251] [NEW] libvirt version supporting revert external snapshot

2017-08-11 Thread Thierry Bouhnik
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I read that libvirt used by ubuntu didn't support revert from external
snapshot.

Do you know from which version of libvrt it's fully supported?

And otherwise, is it previous to integrate in the version ubuntu I used
or maybe if I use a backport package?

I use Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS and my versions of libvirt packages :

root@D54250WYK:/home/thierry# dpkg -l | grep "libvirt"
ii gir1.2-libvirt-glib-1.0:amd64 0.2.2-0.1ubuntu1 amd64 libvirt glib mainloop
integration
ii libvirt-bin 1.3.1-1ubuntu10.10 amd64 programs for the libvirt library
ii libvirt-glib-1.0-0:amd64 0.2.2-0.1ubuntu1 amd64 libvirt glib mainloop
integration
ii libvirt0:amd64 1.3.1-1ubuntu10.10 amd64 library for interfacing with
different virtualization systems
ii python-libvirt 1.3.1-1ubuntu1 amd64 libvirt Python bindings

# libvirtd --version
libvirtd (libvirt) 1.3.1

# virsh --version
1.3.1

Thanks.

[Bug 1705107] [NEW] The boot of this kernel crashed.

2017-07-18 Thread Thierry Gagnebin
Public bug reported:

After installing the kernel linux 4.4.0-83-generic, I try to reboot. The system
stayed for a long time with a black screen without disk activity. I tried to
reboot with the same kernel and I get a lot of messages as show in the attached
file KernelBug.zip, file P1050781.jpg. To write this bug report, I used an old
version of the system as shown in P1050782.jpg. Parameter system details are in
Capture du 2017-07-18 21-11-18.png.
I tried to boot with the recovery mode without success.
When I try to use "ubuntu-bug linux" I have this Error message: see Capture du
2017-07-18 21-34-34.png

Thank you for your help.

Best regards.

*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1568072 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1568072

Thanks a lot for you support.

I got it right in my face while restarting an old virtual machine Ubuntu
16.04 LTS.

I have solved the point simply by cleaning apt-get, and than removing
fpc-util_xxx. I don’t remember exactly which package it was about, it is
mentioned in the error message.

I want to play with image processing, following Adrian at Pyimagesearch.
It seems that I have all that is needed : A Mac, VirtualBox with an
Ubuntu VM, good glasses and good typewriting abilities !

Once again, thank you, all the best to you,

Thierry Jeanneret

[Bug 1630966] [NEW] SMS notified only when screen is ON

2016-10-06 Thread Thierry Roussel
Public bug reported:

Since OTA 13, when screen is OFF, incoming SMS are not received until
the screen is switched ON: no SMS tone is played, LED is not blinking.

As soon as I switch my screen ON, the tone will be played and the LED
will start blinking, as if it had just arrived.

However, please note that after a long time with screen OFF, the
notification is effective.

BQ Aquaris E4.5
Ubuntu 15.04

[Bug 1624028] Re: lxc create using debian template fails on ppc64el

2016-09-16 Thread Thierry FAUCK
So my understanding is that '-t debian' parameter doesn't use the proper
information like the DIST (it does mention jessie)
$ sudo lxc-create -n debian03 -t debian
debootstrap is /usr/sbin/debootstrap
Checking cache download in /var/cache/lxc/debian/rootfs-jessie-ppc64le ...
gpg: key 2B90D010: "Debian Archive Automatic Signing Key (8/jessie)
" not changed

... even though manually, it works also on jessie
 $ sudo lxc-create -n debian03 -t download
Setting up the GPG keyring
Downloading the image index

Distribution: debian
Release: jessie
Architecture: ppc64el

Downloading the image index
Downloading the rootfs

[Bug 1624028] Re: lxc create using debian template fails on ppc64el

2016-09-16 Thread Thierry FAUCK
I understand the debian image is not working properly (or doesn't exist).
Using sudo lxc-create -n debian01 -t download we get the list of valid
distro/release/arch available, and specifying:
 Distribution: debian
 Release: sid
 Architecture: ppc64el
works on debian and on ubuntu !.

Downloading the image index
Downloading the rootfs
Downloading the metadata
The image cache is now ready
Unpacking the rootfs

---
You just created a Debian container (release=sid, arch=ppc64el, variant=default)

To enable sshd, run: apt-get install openssh-server

For security reason, container images ship without user accounts
and without a root password.

Use lxc-attach or chroot directly into the rootfs to set a root password
or create user accounts.

[Bug 1603957] [NEW] MMS is lost if data disabled

2016-07-18 Thread Thierry Roussel
Public bug reported:

If data is disabled at one moment and receiving a MMS notification, the
message is lost forever and no notification is displayed to user.

Actually, when phone receives the MMS notification, it should be

[Bug 1547152] Re: ltrace is throwing segfault while running any of the userspace command

2016-03-09 Thread Thierry FAUCK
Steve,

The patch I produced is in fact a patch to the basic code I produced
for ppc64el support. It is then included in the current dev. tree.
Unfortunately the common code has been rewritten a lot with later
commits to include new features (liked dwarf support) and that created
some code changes in the ppc64el section but the essence is the same...
more cleaning than anything.

However I haven't debugged the dwarf support for ppc64el so I do believe there
is no need to update for now.
Current tests reported including:
- make check from source
- ltrace ps
- ltrace ls
- ltrace sleep 1
have been tested

To answer your question about commit, status is more commit
eea4ad2cce289753aaa35b4e0258a76d8f8f367c with some later fixes, so it doesn't
reach commit 5565cbbd8b363fae085ac3bb9fb37773325bbd1c - For example it doesn't
include cosmetic commit 5565cbbd8b363fae085ac3bb9fb37773325bbd1c but
functionality is there.
Hope it answers your questions.
