[Bug 1916314] Re: HP Spectre x360 14-ea0xxx Tiger Lake Keyboard does not work until ~30-60 seconds after boot
Just wanted to post a comment here so others searching online might find this workaround. I have an HP Pavilion 14 dv0054tu laptop with an Intel Core i5 1135G7 Tiger Lake CPU and am facing this issue of the slow keyboard delay, not responding for a few seconds after booting. The kernel parameter "i8042.nopnp" appears to be working for me, after trying several reboots. This is on elementary OS 6.0 Odin beta based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS with the 5.8 kernel and also on openSUSE Tumbleweed with the 5.11 kernel and Ubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie 21.04 also with the 5.11 kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916314 Title: HP Spectre x360 14-ea0xxx Tiger Lake Keyboard does not work until ~30-60 seconds after boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1916314/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: plymouth See http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8997266postcount=411 I noticed a possible bug where logo.sprite.SetY is called in the third lines where Alberto Milone probably wanted SetZ which was causing me a little grief! Thats probably why he wrote that draw_logo() function with the comment that plymouth doesnt seem to draw properly without this because that function has it set properly See line 148 (or there abouts) for logo.sprite.SetY (logo.z); as you can see SetY called but setting it to logo.z ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Sat Mar 20 12:32:17 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 InstallationMedia: Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx - Alpha amd64 (20100112.3) MachineType: Vishal Rao BlackBird Package: plymouth 0.8.0~-17 ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-16-generic root=UUID=5736c9ea-a13e-48cf-a231-7e08e69ae575 ro ipv6.disable=1 quiet splash libata.force=noncq nouveau.modeset=0 ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= LANG=C SHELL=/bin/bash ProcFB: 0 EFI VGA ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-16.25-generic SourcePackage: plymouth Uname: Linux 2.6.32-16-generic x86_64 dmi.bios.date: 07/15/2009 dmi.bios.vendor: Intel Corp. dmi.bios.version: DPP3510J.86A.0572.2009.0715.2346 dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag dmi.board.name: DP35DP dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.board.version: AAD81073-207 dmi.chassis.asset.tag: 000 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Circle dmi.chassis.version: cc 715 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnIntelCorp.:bvrDPP3510J.86A.0572.2009.0715.2346:bd07/15/2009:svnVishalRao:pnBlackBird:pvr001:rvnIntelCorporation:rnDP35DP:rvrAAD81073-207:cvnCircle:ct3:cvrcc715: dmi.product.name: BlackBird dmi.product.version: 001 dmi.sys.vendor: Vishal Rao ** Affects: plymouth (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug lucid -- plymouth ubuntu-logo theme script SetY/SetZ typo https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/542458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 542536] [NEW] nouveau kms vt switching broken
Public bug reported: Vt switching broken with or without the xorg-edgers PPA. apparently happened during the time nouveau was backported into the kernel instead of being a separate module. [Bug 502219] Re: Kernel errors triggered with SSD storage
OK I think I know what's happening and I've fixed my issue! I should have figured this out sooner but the problem is/was NCQ not SMART. I did a web search for failed command READ FPDMA QUEUED and saw some references to NCQ, SSDs and all that jazz. So all I need to do is pass the linux kernel boot paramter along with the existing (unrelated) parameters quiet splash like: [code] quiet splash libata.force=noncq [/code] Intel does NCQ support right for sure. And OCZ is apparently blacklisted already in the code it looks like that is why the above folks dont get this error. The place to backlist in linux kernel (.32 series) libata source would be drivers/ata/libata-core.c around line 4252 with the existing OCZ ata_blacklist_entry item: [code] { CRUCIAL_CT128M225, NULL, ATA_HORKAGE_NONCQ }, [/code] This blacklist just the 128 GB model which I have, I'm guessing the 64 and 256 models also need blacklisting with their own ID strings. I guess you pass NULL for the firmware version string so it blacklists all of them. I will post this info on the Crucial.com forums and also on the forums and see what happens from there. Not sure if this should be fixed by blacklisting these Crucial M225 models in the libata linux kernel source or it should be fixed by Crucial in perhaps a new model and/or BIOS update. I hope Ubuntu devs might get this into the .32 kernel released with Lucid to avoid headaches for other Crucial SSD users. -- Kernel errors triggered with SSD storage https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/502219 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 502219] Re: Kernel errors triggered with SSD storage
Update from my side after installing Kubuntu Lucid Alpha 2: It does not seem to be related to bug #445852 or SMART because I tried the workaround above to no effect and I also simply disabled SMART in the BIOS to no effect. I still get the ata errors in dmesg as before. Although it may not be significant/relevant, note that right after I installed Lucid A2 I also updated the firmware on my Crucial 128 GB SSD model CT128M225 from 1819 to 1916 which seems to help with perf issues users of Win7 etc reported - it now has active GC along with TRIM. [Bug 151867] Re: vpn pptp on Kubuntu is not available
Thanks William, Since my last comment I'd already realised you can install GNOME's network manager after some online searches and especially after trying Fedora 11 (KDE) beta and noticing the icon looked funny. I had to also install gnome-keyring and gnome-keyring-daemon in addition to the network-manager-pptp plugins. Then instead of ~/.kde/Autostart I edited /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop and appended KDE; to the list of desktops in the line that read OnlyShowIn= and voila VPN/PPTP works for me and so does static IP config. So I'm glad I can continue running Kubuntu 9.04 since KDE 4.2 is looking very good indeed. -- vpn pptp on Kubuntu is not available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to plasma-widget-network-manager in ubuntu. -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

Unless I'm imagining things, I thought this was addressed during the alphas, but while installing both Kubuntu and Ubuntu 9.04 beta with selecting English it still wants to go online scanning the mirrors at 82%. This takes about 5 minutes which is annoying since the entire install itself takes 5-10 minutes (excluding the scanning mirror part). [Bug 317127] Re: evtouch calibrate tool does not detect mouse position
OK, some progress! When I did a package update it got the thjaeger3 version, then I only restarted X (gdm). Now the taps were also going to the right locations and the cursor following the pen movements! Except the calibration was off a little. So I tried running the calibrate tool and it would immediately return to the main session (with a quick text flash which I think is the standard warning that you have another X session running). So I rebooted my tablet, but now again the taps have again lost the ability to detect the position and the calibrate tool fails to run. It worked before the reboot. Could it be some HAL fdi files conflict with some other (evdev maybe) packages? Attaching an archive with 2 xorg logs, one when attempting to run calibrate after reboot, the .old one was run before reboot but just with an X restart... let me know if other info needed. ** Attachment added: xorg calibrate logs before and after reboot http://launchpadlibrarian.net/23745124/xorg1logs.tar.gz -- evtouch calibrate tool does not detect mouse position https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317127 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 312098] [NEW] FTBFS: xserver-xorg-input-evtouch binary package not available for install in Jaunty due to FTBFS in xf86-input-evtouch source package
Public bug reported: See https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input- evtouch/0.8.7-4build2/+build/813522 I'm testing Jaunty amd64 on an HP Pavilion tx1302au tablet PC and noticed this package would not install even though it was updated for new Xorg server version. [Bug 294523] Re: ubiquity hangs 82% done configuring apt (scanning the mirror)
Can this bug be converted into a wishlist? i.e. the installer should not go online if it detects a network connection without first prompting/asking (or user selecting a checkbox during configuration)... yes, the installer can mention its for important security updates but still leave the choice to the user. There are users in countries with slow Internet access or pay-per-MB pricing who'd like to avoid using the connection during installation. -- ubiquity hangs 82% done configuring apt (scanning the mirror) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/294523 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 263184] Re: wl driver doesnt work with kernel .27-2 and broadcom chipset
Same issue with fresh install of Intrepid Alpha 5. The wl driver shows as in use in driver manager (no b43 listed there) and Network Manager has option to connect to AP but I get a connection disconnected popup in the notification area (I specify WPA2 personal). Blacklisted b43/ssb and now Network Manager only recognises ethernet no wlan. [Bug 263184] [NEW] wl driver doesnt work with kernel .27-2 and broadcom chipset
Public bug reported: i have an hp tablet tx1302au with broadcom wifi chipset. installed intrepid alpha4 (amd64) and updated it to get the latest and greatest kernel .27-2 by default the wl restricted driver is installed enabled but does not show up in network manager. doing lsmod | grep wl only shows: wl 1085520 0 ieee80211_crypt 14596 1 wl shouldnt it also show some mac80211 line in there somewhere? note: i tried wl on hardy (amd64) with this thread and it worked well for me: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=880218 but in any case if i disable/blacklist wl and install b43 driver with firmware my wifi works very well with networkmanager and all. please let me know if i should be posting other output such as lspci -nn, dpkg -l, dmesg, uname -a etc... will do that shortly... ** Affects: network-manager Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: linux-restricted-modules (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- wl driver doesnt work with kernel .27-2 and broadcom chipset https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/263184 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
