[Bug 1478564] [NEW] cannot add PPA easily

2015-07-27 Thread wayne
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu is supposed to be community driven and user friendly but one of the most
regularly needed things I cannot do easily. To add a PPA you have to mess
around with 25 different steps.
3)What I expect is a one click 'add PPA to Ubuntu' from any website. Since
this is possible with a copy-to-clipboard coding in a website like www.bit.ly,
it should be possible to visit any website with a PPA and simply click a button
that says 'Add PPA' or "+PPA" and then it automatically ends up as a source and
able to be installed shortly after that.
4)What happened: I had to do a crazy number of advanced steps!

Thanks for fixing this bug asap!

/custom/build_id should always be the epoch, as that's what the
custom-dconf upstart job checks to see whether dconf needs to be updated

[Bug 1409192] Re: HP Stream touchpad mouse buttons not working correctly

2015-01-15 Thread Wayne
The issue appears to be fixed in mainline kernel
3.19.0-031900rc3-generic.

Under the updated kernel, behaviour is as follows:

- The entire mouse button area of the touchpad acts as a left mouse button
- Right mouse button clicking can be achieved through a two-finger tap
- Using the trackpad mouse buttons does not lock up the external mouse

It would be better if the right hand side of the touchpad mouse button
area acted as a right-click action, but that seems like a separate
issue.

I'm unable to confirm if the issue existed in an older version of Ubuntu
- have only tried 14.10.

Thanks!

[Bug 1409192] [NEW] HP Stream touchpad mouse buttons not working correctly

2015-01-09 Thread Wayne
Public bug reported:

The buttons on my laptop touchpad are not functioning correctly under
Ubuntu 14.10.

The laptop is a HP Stream model 11-d008tu. The trackpad is all one
section and does not have separate visible mouse buttons. When running
Windows 8 clicking the bottom left section of the trackpad causes a left
click action, and clicking the bottom right section of the trackpad
causes a right click action.

Under Ubuntu the behaviour is as follows:

- An optical USB mouse plugged into the laptop works normally IF the trackpad
mouse buttons are never used.
- Clicking the left or right button sections of the trackpad does NOT result in
any left or right click action occurring (e.g. opening right click menu).
- After trying to perform a left or right button click using the button section
of the trackpad, any left or right click from the USB mouse does NOT work
anymore if clicking on an application window. They do however work if clicking
on the Unity launcher sidebar. This problem is fixed after a reboot.
- Using basic click touchpad gestures that are on the main section of the
trackpad work normally (i.e. single finger tap to left click, two finger tap to
right click, two finger drag to scroll).
- Other multitouch touchpad gestures do not work (e.g. 3-finger pinch or hold).

[Bug 1394614] Re: Cached results stay in scopes even with no internet

2015-01-05 Thread Chris Wayne
Ill double check with the team, but I do believe this is the news scope
itself doing the caching, but to me that seems to be the correct
behavior. Why would a user prefer a completely blank scope rather than
the latest cached data?

[Bug 1393413] [NEW] Custom version string should come from channel info, not /custom/build_id

/custom/build_id is just an epoch time stamp, which is used to
facilitate dconf updates. The version strng in /etc/system-

[Bug 1390581] [NEW] Card title text does not have appropriate color set when using image as card-background

2014-11-07 Thread Chris Wayne
Public bug reported:

When setting a card background, it appears that the card's text color
adapts to make sure the right color is used. This seems to work fine
when just setting a color, but when using an image as the background,
this is not done. This results in unreadable text.

[Bug 1386177] [NEW] All preinstalled clicks should be moved to custom tarball

2014-10-27 Thread Chris Wayne
Public bug reported:

>From the PES team, we would like all click apps to be on the custom
tarball rather than in the rootfs. This gives more control over what
apps are installed, and allows us to free up some space on the rootfs
(as we've already allocated a certain amount of space for /custom, so
while moving apps to /custom won't change the overall disk space usage,
it changes the free space in the rootfs itself, by instead taking up
space in /custom.

[Bug 1383502] [NEW] Tag Catalog Support For Metadata Definitions

2014-10-20 Thread Wayne
Public bug reported:

A challenge with using OpenStack is discovering, sharing, and correlating
tags across services and different types of resources. We believe this
affects both end users and administrators.

A catalog of possible tags that can be used to help ensure tag name consistency
across users, resource types, and services. So, when a user goes to apply a tag
on a resource, they will be able to either create new tags or choose from tags
that have been used elsewhere in the system on different types of resources.

The following DB schema is the initial suggested schema. We will improve and
take comments during code review. Constraints not shown for readability.
CREATE TABLE `metadef_tags` (
`id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT,
`namespace_id` int(11) NOT NULL,
`name` varchar(80) NOT NULL,
`created_at` timestamp NOT NULL,
`updated_at` timestamp
)

CREATE TABLE `metadef_tag_parents` (
`child_tag_id` int(11) NOT NULL,
`parent_tag_id` int(11) NOT NULL
)

[Bug 1374481] Re: Nearby and News scope do not load on reboot

2014-10-16 Thread Chris Wayne
As for comment 14, the el jueves scope has been fixed (and also removed
from the image) so that's not affecting anything (also was never part of
Nearby, so would only ever affect News) FWIW is was crashing on closing
down, so it launched and got the content fine, the issue was that go
scopes call SetScopeBase with nil on shutdown, which it wasn't handling
properly

I can shuffle the files around to make it easier. I'll create

Is that helpful?

[Bug 1359793] Re: Pageheader logo is blank when launching a preview from aggregator

2014-09-09 Thread Chris Wayne
When I logged the bug, the pageheader was completely blank (no image or
words at all). If it shows the Aggregator's pageheader now that's
totally fine, it just definitely shouldn't be blank (as it was at the
time)

[Bug 1359793] Re: Pageheader logo is blank when launching a preview from aggregator

2014-08-21 Thread Chris Wayne
So if you select for example a grooveshark track from the music
aggregator, the preview pageheader is blank. But if you open the
grooveshark scope and then select a result, the logo is there as
expected

[Bug 1356149] [NEW] 14.04 LTS messes up my WIN7 clock (dual boot)

2014-08-12 Thread Wayne
Public bug reported:

Monday 2014-08-11 I upgraded from 12.04 LTS to 14.04 LTS. The next day
I started noticing that opening Win7 after running Ubuntu the Win7 clock
would be displaying the wrong time. I think that the Ubuntu upgrade is
causing this because the Win7 clock seems to maintain the correct value
as long as I do not run Ubuntu, but once I run Ubuntu then the Win7
clock gets messed up.

Re: [Bug 1349950] Re: Preview text widget isn't automatically wrapped

2014-07-30 Thread Chris Wayne
I think header should wrap rather than truncate, as some result titles can
be quite long, and often get truncated in the preview

[Bug 1349950] Re: Preview text widget isn't automatically wrapped

2014-07-30 Thread Chris Wayne
This is an example of the description we'd get from the etsy API:

"description": "This is a thick cream to be used on face as well as
body.\r\nThe latest fad in skincare.. Probiotics. not only are they
good for the inside but the outside skin as well.\r\n\r\nI will add
kombucha tea .\r\nRemember to store in the refrigerator -probiotics have
a shorter shelf life. There is a preservative that will not kill the
good bacteria. It will not last long term. Will last about 4-6
weeks.\r\n\r\nSo great for the skin and so many companies are now using
it in professional lines.\r\n\r\nThe kombucha for skincare--fermented
tea-\r\nBoth the glucoronic and lactic-acid compounds in kombucha are
considered beneficial to the skin's dermal layer, helping it maintain
moisture and elasticity.Kombucha tea can also be used as a prophylactic
against blemishes and as a way to even skin tone also beneficial for
eczema and itchy skin.\r\n\r\nIn Skin-Care Products\r\nThese properties
are one reason why kombucha extract is used in a number of skin-care
products, including creams, lotions and exfoliating scrubs. Applying
kombucha topically to the skin is thought to enhance the skin's overall
appearance by making it appear smoother and more even in tone and
texture\r\ntopical antibiotic. It also contains b vitamins which also
improve skin function. \r\n\r\nYou will get an 8 oz. container. The
cream will also be made with jojoba oil, distilled water, emulsifying
wax, vit e, citric acid, cinnamon and preservative. aloe vera,
glycerine.\r\n\r\nStore in refrigerator and enjoy all the benefits.",
