[Bug 806236] Re: Incorrect error message when password and confirmation do not match
** Description changed: When creating a user or changing the password for an existing user, if the Password: and Confirmation: text fields do not match, the following error message is displayed: Check that you have provided the same password in both text fields. - 1. [Bug 402950] Re: PCM volume is reset to zero each time I log in
1. Ctrl-alt-F2 (et al) gives me a screen of static - guess limitation of graphics card. So I tried logging on using XTERM rathern than Gnome - I don't know if that is sufficient. Under Xterm alsamixer shows PCM volume is zero. I set it to 71, exit, and reboot. Logging in to Xterm shows it 0 again. Reboot and log in to Gnome desktop. Use alsamixer at terminal to increase PCM to 71. Reboot and log in using Xterm, and it's zero again. Log in using Gnome and it's zero again. 2. I then transferred hard drive to a different PC (with a different soundcard). Repeated above but using tty2 instead of Xterm. Same results. On this PC (with motherboard sound card) PCM volume does not need to enabled to have sound. The original PC with a SB16 soundcard does need PCM enabled for sound to work. 3. Using Ubuntu Karmic I have the same issue with the CT3180 identified as card 'Creative Phone Blaster 28.8/33.6' but no sound modules are loaded. [Bug 430583] [NEW] New GDM login screen counter-intuitive
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gdm Looking at Karmic Alpha 5: On logging on for the first time, the user only sees two buttons. Restart or Shutdown. Many users will only look at the buttons. Worse the login user name is already highlighted by default (only one user after first install) - it is not at all obvious that you should click on an already highlighted user name to bring up a password prompt. I believe this needs some work to make it more friendly, usable and intuitive. I'd suggest a Login button, even if all it does is act the same as clicking on the highlighted user name. Not have the user name highlighted, unless you also display the password box. At the moment I know most of my family would try clicking on a button or Other... in the hope that something would work. And I've spoken to some other experienced Ubuntu users who admit that on first seeing this screen they have to stop, and consider what should be done. ** Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- New GDM login screen counter-intuitive https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/430583 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
