[Bug 229547] Re: Atheros wifi stops working randomly
The bug is closed already, but here is an update on this 'bug'. I recently installed Windows XP on this notebook and.. guess what, the same problem is there after an unexpected shutdown. Rebooting about 5-6 times reenables the network. My best guess now is that this is a hardware problem and has never been a bug in Ubuntu. -- Atheros wifi stops working randomly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229547 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I know what the bug is, since I filed it. :-) And it is definitely fixed.. Things have changed since I reported this bug and the timed-login does _not_ occur on a second GDM anymore. One additional comment to this.. In Nautilus the 'file type' show 'Digital raw image' at first. As soon as a file gets selected however, it changes to 'TIFF image'. Re: [Bug 163081] Re: 64bit gutsy doesnt show bootsplash
That looks like it is exactly the same problem. I re-enabled usplash, changed /etc/usplash.conf to 1280x800 and ran 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure usplash'. Everything is working like a charm now. So this bug is definitely a duplicate of 157758. Re: [Bug 163081] Re: 64bit gutsy doesnt show bootsplash
The resolution of my notebook-screen is 1280x800. A few days ago I switched off usplash by removing 'splash' from the kernel options in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Since then the system is booting much faster. I also tried changing the resolution in usplash.conf to 1280x800. Usplash still did not work and booting was slow again. I just switched back to a fresh 32-bit install of gutsy which has the exact same problem. [Bug 163081] 64bit gutsy doesnt show bootsplash
Public bug reported: I just installed a fresh 64bit gutsy on my laptop instead of the 32bit i was already running. During boot-time, right after the GRUB-menu has appeared, the screen goes black. I.e. bootsplash does not work. First thing i see after that is GDM. Gnome works fine and the resolution is OK. Switching to TTY1 - 6 (ctrl-alt-f1 - f6), shows a very large login-prompt with a very low resolution. After logging in, it appears that my screen doesnt show everything there is to show.. I'm not sure what information to include here. Please ask if more info is needed. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- 64bit gutsy doesnt show bootsplash https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/163081 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
