[Bug 840461] Re: Attachment Save as does not work anymore

2011-09-03 Thread Xwang
I've discovered that the problem was originated from an update done when
thunderbird was open.
Closing thunderbird and reopening it the version passed from 3.1.12 to 3.1.13
and the problem disappeared.
So can you remove or sign this bug as invalid.
Thank you,
Xwang

[Bug 665893] [NEW] Impossible to draw 2D geometries

2010-10-24 Thread Xwang
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: freecad

Hi,
I'm using Kubuntu 10.04.1 LTS and freecad installed via the distro
repositories:
apt-cache policy freecad
freecad:

When I try to design a line or any other 2D entity, an error appears in the
status bar and no entity is drawn.
If I run the Self-test I obtain the two errors reported in the attached file.

2010-10-24 Thread Xwang
Thank you!
By installing the debian package, I can draw 2D objects but still the Self-test
gives the same errors.
Moreover since lucid is a LTS, I think the buggy python-pivy package should be
fixed or replaced with the debian one.
Do you agree?

[Bug 512464] Re: SYSFS{}= will be removed in a future udev version

2010-06-02 Thread Xwang
I've the same problem and since I've upgraded to Lucid, I wonder if I have to
delete all the rules which are in /etc/udev/rules.d. Moreover I want to know if
udev still search also in such a directory or if it can be deleted too.
Finally since I have the following rule 10-vboxdrv.rules:

KERNEL==vboxdrv, NAME=vboxdrv, OWNER=root, GROUP=root, MODE=0600
SUBSYSTEM==usb_device, GROUP=vboxusers, MODE=0664
SUBSYSTEM==usb, ENV{DEVTYPE}==usb_device, GROUP=vboxusers, MODE=0664

which I've written to change file permission of usb device in order to
use them with virtualbox, can I move it to /lib/udev/rules.d?

[Bug 188342] Re: keymap fr: numpad '.' mapped to period instead of KP_Decimal

2009-09-09 Thread Xwang
I've a very similar problem using the Italian language on my kubuntu 9.04 amd64
system.
Openoffice and gnucash work correctly (they see the decimal separator of the
keypad like a comma as prescrived by the current locale), but speedcrunch,
kate, firefox, thunderbird and a lot of other programs see the decimal
separator like a dot.
Shouldn't the KP_Decimal value be aligned with the locale settings?
This is the output of xmodmap -pke for this key:
keycode 91 = KP_Delete KP_Decimal KP_Delete KP_Decimal KP_Delete KP_Decimal

[Bug 281016] Re: QtCurve style is not remembered

I confirm the bug on kubuntu 8.10 with kde 4.1.4.

to use QtCurve has to do that and the workaround must be repeated every time
the style is changed using systemsettings).

[Bug 205201] Re: [Hardy] The gtk-qt-engine doesn't work while staring applications as another user

2009-01-17 Thread Xwang
The bug is still present in kubuntu 8.10 (kde 4.1.4).
Symlinking files from user's home to root doesn't seem safe to me.
Maybe as a temporary workaround knowing which files define the style of
applications (both qt and gtk) may be useful to copy them from the user home to
root one.
In any way the above command:
sudo ln -s ~/.gtkrc-2.0-kde /root/.gtkrc-2.0
seems wrong; I think it should be:
sudo ln -s ~/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0-kde /root/.kde/share/config/gtkrc-2.0
Do you agree?

I'm trying to see an iso image of a dvd, but kaffein complains that the dvd is
encrypted and libdvdcss is needed even if the library is already installed and
vlc plays it without any problem.
My system is kubuntu intrepid.

[Bug 68187] Re: xine was unable to initialize any audio drivers. error

2009-01-05 Thread Xwang
I'm using kubuntu intrepid and I've found a way to reproduce the issue:
1) listen to an mp3 which lyrics is not found automatically
2) search for the lyrincs on the web clicking on the link in the lyrics tab and
now kfmclient takes control of the sound device as the output of lsof | grep
snd shows:

amarokapp 30239 andreak mem CHR 116,8 13617
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
amarokapp 30239 andreak 20u CHR 116,2 13195
/dev/snd/timer
amarokapp 30239 andreak 21u CHR 116,8 13617
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
amarokapp 30239 andreak 31u CHR 116,10 13660
/dev/snd/controlC0
kmix 30825 andreak 11u CHR 116,10 13660
/dev/snd/controlC0
sh32527 andreak 20r CHR 116,2 13195
/dev/snd/timer
sh32527 andreak 21u CHR 116,8 13617
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
sh32527 andreak 31u CHR 116,10 13660
/dev/snd/controlC0
kfmclient 32528 andreak 20r CHR 116,2 13195
/dev/snd/timer
kfmclient 32528 andreak 21u CHR 116,8 13617
/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p
kfmclient 32528 andreak 31u CHR 116,10 13660
/dev/snd/controlC0

4) push the next button in amarok to listen to another music (if you let the
playlist play, amarok continues to play without problems) and you will see the
issue

Now if I kill the kfmclient, I can restart to listen to music again without any
problem.
Why does kfmclient takes control of the sound card?
After point 3 (namely if kfmclient uses the sound card) if you close amarok and
try to open another xine based program (kaffeine for example), you will not
able to use it for the same problem till you kill the kfmclient process.

Can you test if the same happens to you?

[Bug 256910] Re: kcmwineconfig doesn't load if Z: drive is removed

Ok, adding the Z. drive it works.
I removed it because I was searching for a method to avoid windows application
to see files outside the .wine directory.
Is it possible to limit wine using a sort of chroot (so that applications see
.wine as the /directory)?

[Bug 256910] Re: kcmwineconfig doesn't load if Z: drive is removed

2008-08-13 Thread Xwang
I've discovered that removing all drives except c: (namely not mapping /,
/home/user and so on), I can look at all the directories from a windows
application but I can open and write only in directories inside c:. So, since
this is, IMHO, a much more safer configuration, I suggest to modify
kcmwineconfig so that it is not needed the presence of the z: drive which maps
/ (giving to windows applications the ability to read and write to all the file
the user has access on the pc.

[Bug 257686] [NEW] K3b fails in checking written data

2008-08-13 Thread Xwang
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: k3b

I've generated with k3b an iso image of a cd and then I've written it in a new
cd asking to k3b to check the written data.
K3b has finished the test with an error saying that data written in Track 1 do
not correspond to the image ones (I've traslated the message from Italian to
English).
However I've generated a second image from the new cd and I've discovered that
the md5sum of the two iso is the same, so it seems that the copy is ok. Maybe
it is a problem with the check?

[Bug 256910] [NEW] kcmwineconfig doesn't load if .wine already exists

2008-08-11 Thread Xwang
Public bug reported:

On my Kubuntu 8.04.1, I've noticed that kcmwineconfig (System
settingsAdvancedWindows Applications) does not load if a .wine directory is
already present. So it is impossible to modify wine settings using this
integrated tool. It is necessary to use the winecfg utility. If I remove the
.wine directory and start kcmwineconfig, I can setup wine, but then when I
close kcontrol and open it back again, it can't load it.
Starting kcontrol from the console and selecting the Windows Applications tool
when a .wine directory is already present, it is not opened and in the console
the following messages appear:

Pythonize constructor -- pid = 12441

Ideally it should be possible to use both this integrated tool and the
wineconfig one without having such issues.
Do you agree?

[Bug 79054] Error formatting DVD-RW with usb recorder

2007-01-13 Thread Xwang
Public bug reported:

When I try to format a previously written DVD-RW with my USB recorder, I obtain
the error reported below which I suppose is related with the fact that the DVD
is automatically mounted with pmount (I'm using Kubuntu Edgy Eft upgraded from
Dapper) when I insert it.
In order to format the dvd, I have to use the console to manually umount the
/media/dvdrecorder and after that K3b works correctly.
If I insert a blank DVD, it isn't mounted automatically and so K3b works
flawlessly.
If I start K3b as root there is no problem, but it's not very safe.
What can I do to format my DVDs using K3b as user?
Thank you,
