[Bug 96991] Re: 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI
This guy has apparently solved the problem: http://hoegsberg.blogspot.com/2008/03/i-just-committed-last-bit-of- dri2-work.html However, it is not clear if, or when, his solution will be ported to the main distributions. It is clear that it was not delivered on Intrepid. Maybe on Fedora 10? Anyone has made tests on that? -- 3D stuff breaks with Compiz: Redirected Direct Rendering is needed in DRI https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/96991 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 248363] Re: VMD OpenGL package crashes X and aparently everything else as well.
Hi Bryce, Sorry not answering for long time. The problem was/is in my laptop, which I've not been using it for sometime for these applications anymore. I cannot at the moment update the system to Itrepid, because I have done too much tinkering to make everything work (webcams, fn keys, etc.) on Hardy. If I'm able to update the system sometime I will post the new status. Thanks, Leandro. -- VMD OpenGL package crashes X and aparently everything else as well. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 196724] Re: console-kit-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in vt_thread_start()
I have Intrepid Server as well, and I was seen the Dec 4 08:17:02 node006 kernel: [53912.342725] console-kit-dae[15142]: segfault at 1c8 ip 7f055a08ee09 sp 40f84090 error 4 in libglib-2.0.so.0.1800.2[7f055a062000+c3000] messages in /var/log/messages and dmesg. I have a cluster in which each node has the ubuntu server installed, and it was reproducible on all nodes. Then, I have installed the policykit package in all nodes, and the errors disapeared. I'm relativelly confident that installing this package solves this issue, but it may have been a strange coincidence. I've installed it because I read somewhere that it should be installed in order to the console-kit work correctly. If anyone knows a rational behing my observation, it would be interesting to know. If this makes no sense, sorry. -- console-kit-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in vt_thread_start() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/196724 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 300186] Re: package msttcorefonts 2.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
I'm having I think the same problem. The package either fails to install or takes too long, but that is because the sourforge.net respositories are too slow to respond. I don't think this is a bug on apt or ubuntu, the solution would be to provide other mirrors for the font files to be searched automatically in this case. -- package msttcorefonts 2.5 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/300186 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Yes, it is possible, I've found other bug reports in the intel bugzila site which describe a similar problem, but there is no clear activity on them. -- VMD OpenGL package crashes X and aparently everything else as well. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/248363 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 248363] [NEW] VMD OpenGL package crashes X and aparently everything else as well.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg When trying to use the VMD (Visual Molecular Dynamics) package in Ubuntu Hardy (the problem was present in 7.10 as well), I get random X freezes from which I need to hard-reboot. Actually the mouse continues to move, but the keyboard becomes totally unresponsive. I cannot say if it was a kernel crash or only a X crash, since I cannot use the alternate ttys. VMD is an OpenGL molecular graphics application. I'm not using desktop effects. I'm not sure how to track this bug further. Here I send my xorg.0.log after reboot and the xorg.0.log.old, which contains errors and maybe is the log file before the hard-reboot, I'm not sure. [Bug 190450] Re: Can't compile ov51x-jpeg on hardy
Same problem as David Hulgh-Jones. The new package fixed the compilation problem, but the same webcame is not recognized. The only dmesg lines related to it when it is pluged are: [ 771.596188] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 8 [ 771.607368] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice -- Can't compile ov51x-jpeg on hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/190450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 36651] Re: Network Manager does not remember WEP/WPA key
Same problem in a Vaio NR using the intel3945 a/b/g iwlwifi3945 driver. There are no problems when using WICD, so this is a bug on network manager, clearly, this is the description I gave in the forum: I have the same problem in Hardy, in a vaio laptop with intel 3945 a/b/g. I connect to the wireless network (either WEP or WPA). If I get disconnected, or the next time I try to connect, the conection fails. If I go to the Edit wireless networks... there is a different passphrase (actually a sequence of letters and number) that does not seem to be related to the original one. If I go Applications-Passwords and encryption keys, chose the password (which is there), and see it, it is not the password I put and neither the one that is visible in the Edit wireless... It does not seem that the password is being forgotten, but actually that some encription is not being well communicated through the system, in such a way that the password is changed. The same network works nice with WICD, but I would like to stay with the standard distribution if possible. I think this is a bug. I will try to post it as one. -- Network Manager does not remember WEP/WPA key https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36651 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 173652] Re: unable to adjust screen brightness on recent Sony Vaio notebooks
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-NR11Z (GMA x3100) The brightness control didn't work. Installing xblacklight and using the xrandr --output LVDS --set BACKLIGHT_CONTROL native I can set the brightness over the command line. The scripts above didn't work for me, the Fn-F5 and Fn-F6 don't work anyway. I'm not sure the script is being activated at all by those keys, how can I check that? -- unable to adjust screen brightness on recent Sony Vaio notebooks https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/173652 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
