[Bug 1917543] [NEW] can't connect to raspberry pi UART TTL

2021-03-02 Thread Zane Hitchcox
Public bug reported:

I'm using the popular PL2303 to convert the USB signal from my computer
to UART TTL signal by connecting it to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins,
following the guide here: https://cdn-learn.adafruit.com/downloads/pdf
/adafruits-raspberry-pi-lesson-5-using-a-console-cable.pdf

I have done this with my mac, and it works fine, but I tried with 18.04
and 20.04, and it doesn't appear to send any output to the serial
console, although it does seem to receive it for a while if you have
screen listening to /dev/ttyUSB0 while rebooting the pi, but after a few
seconds, it stops outputting anything.

It does work on Ubuntu 16.04, so I'm not sure exactly what changed
there, but maybe that's a starting point.

I'm also kind of a noob with this stuff, so if anyone can tell me how to
load the kernel module for 16.04 for the UART TTY stuff, that would be
great as well.

[Bug 1835932] [NEW] goodix touch driver not working

2019-07-09 Thread Zane Lindstrom
Public bug reported:

I'm trying to use a touch screen that needs a goodix touch driver. I can
see in the overlays folder that there is a goodix.dtbo file, so I assume
the kernel has support for this device.

I downloaded Ubuntu Mate (32 bit) for raspberry pi and added these two
lines in config.txt in /boot to enable the touch screen (which worked):

dtoverlay=i2c1-bcm2708,sda1_pin=44,scl1_pin=45,pin_func=6
dtoverlay=goodix,interrupt=42,reset=43

I tried doing the same on ubuntu core and it throws this error when
booting up:

[Bug 1726548] Re: Windows resized after resume

2018-04-29 Thread Zane Selvans
I am experiencing this bug on Ubuntu 18.04, running on a ThinkPad T470s,
after setting the 2560x1440 display resolution to 100% (no pixel
doubling). It's as if while the computer has been asleep, the display
has been re-sized to 200% (pixel doubled), forcing all the existing
windows to be shrunk to fit.

2018-03-26 Thread Zane Hitchcox
This was fixed for me. It was a problem with the bios. I had to change
the SATA setting to ACHI, turn off secure boot, and then reboot to bios
and then I could change it from UEFI to Legacy, and then I was able to
install.

[Bug 1645694] Re: alarm update failed with --query

Ah, OK, it works when you do:

openstack alarm update test --type event --query
"traits.instance_id=string::3ed4fbc1-023e-4c4e-85d3-cf6d73c9ac88"

basically the client doesn't know what to do with --query unless you
also specify --type=event.

[Bug 1005914] Re: gnome-screenshot produces black screenshot with only the mouse pointer visible

Updating the kernel fixed the bug.

** Description changed:

  following these
  instructions:https://www.linux.com/learn/tutorials/764181-how-to-

  I cannot connect to the internet on the ubuntu computer, because of not
  having a trackpad and thus cannot send a bug report through the ubuntu-

  I followed this debugging guide:
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection/evtest

  and there is no input device called "SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad" or anything
like that.

[Bug 1319574] Re: 3 finger drag does not work on 14.04

2014-05-15 Thread Zane Hitchcox
Well, in the wiki (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Multitouch) it says that
three finger press is supposed to allow you to drag the window. However,
in my case, it just stays there. And every once in a while, it will fly
around the page. Also, if I just tap and hold with three fingers, it
doesn't do anything at all.

[Bug 1319974] [NEW] Can't log back in after suspend

2014-05-15 Thread Zane Hitchcox
Public bug reported:

I have a brand new installation of ubuntu on my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro,
and after I suspend the computer and try to log back in, it freezes. I
can move the mouse around, but can't do anything.

If I restart my computer, it works fine though.

I have tried reinstalling the OS, but I still have the exact same
problem.

[Bug 975152] Re: Execute in terminal not working

2013-08-07 Thread Dr. Gianluigi "Zane" Zanettini
I can confirm that this same problem is still present in Lubuntu 13.04
with all updates available as of today (Aug 08, 2013) installed.

The only way I can workaround it was to use just lxterminal under
PCManFM -> Prefernces -> Advanced.

The previously suggested -e and/or %s results in just an open, inactive
terminal.

Mind you that setting the nvidia graphics card to Maximum Performance

[Bug 456637] Re: Please consider turning powermizer OFF

2011-07-07 Thread Zane
A workaround I've found is adding the following line under 'Section "Device"'
to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.
Option  "RegistryDwords""PowerMizerEnable=0x1; PerfLevelSrc=0x;
PowerMizerDefault=0x1; PowerMizerDefaultAC=0x1"

You may need to restart your machine after that.

Hope it helps.

[Bug 460325] Re: Kate crash desktop if open .nfo files on Karmic

2010-02-03 Thread Zane
Hi, I have a similar problem. After playing around for a while, I found out
that if there is a certain pattern in the file path that kate accesses,
plasma-desktop will crash for sure. The pattern I found is "more than three
Chinese characters within a pair of square brackets", for example,
"/home/zanetu/[一二三四].txt", "/home/zanetu/[一二三四五]/a.txt", etc.
I followed the instructions in https://wiki.kubuntu.org/Backtrace and got the
txt file in the attachment. Hope it will help.

[Bug 472573] [NEW] 9.10 Install Freezes at "Detecting Filesystems" (HP Workstation XW6200)

2009-11-03 Thread Zane Sims
Public bug reported:

When trying to boot as a live cd or when trying to install Ubuntu 9.10
on my HP Workstation XW6200, the command line goes no farther than:

30%: Detecting filesystems...

The screen then begins to blink seven times, then pause for about one
second then blink seven more times. It keeps doing this.

The processors are 64-bit and I have tried both 32 and 64 bit versions
of 9.10. Previously I have been able to install other versions of
Ubuntu and Linux on this computer. Before trying to install Ubuntu
9.10, Windows 7 RC was installed to the hard drive (still is) for
testing.

This sounds similar to this bug, but I was unsure:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/432497

Thanks,
Zane
