[Bug 1577197] Re: Pulseaudio bluez5-util.c: TryAcquire() failed - Operation Not Authorized

2018-01-05 Thread Zeppe
Im still experiencing this problem on Ubuntu 17.10 (very infrequently).
I'm getting:

[pulseaudio] bluez5-util.c: Transport TryAcquire() failed for transport
/org/bluez/hci0/dev_00_0C_8A_86_6A_94/fd0 (Operation Not Authorized)

often even in between 2 videos on youtube. This will freeze any video
playing btw. I can resolve with `pulseaudio -k` and repairing the
bluetooth device.

[Bug 649693] Re: Gnome Panel messed up (painting)

2010-12-11 Thread Zeppe
This affects me as well. I don't think it's related to nvidia since I
have intel graphics on my laptop. killall gnome-panel fixes the problem.
It's a painting problem but also a button sensitivity one. What I mean
is, this problem appears somewhere in the icons area on the top-right
and the buttons that happen to be hidden by another badly rendered part
are insensible and cannot be pressed.

[Bug 521766] Re: Theme not applied on startup

2010-05-23 Thread Zeppe
I'm reopening this bug, it has been with me for ages, I decided to
investigate it recently, I enabled apport but it didn't intercept any
crash (I suspect so at least, since it didn't pop-up as it usually
does). As noted above, the problem should be related to gnome-settings-
daemon, last time I experienced the bug (5 min ago) the process wasn't
running, and launching it again solved the problem (i.e., the theme got
loaded).

May it be that gnome-settings-daemon crashes before apport gets started?
How can I work around this?

Thank you for the suggestions.

[Bug 426185] Re: Gnome-panel fails to load various applets

2010-01-21 Thread Zeppe
Well, I can confirm you that in Karmic it's not fixed at all.
Additionally, this is a bug that many users can experience without being
able to easily reach the relevant launchpad bug entry. I myself tried
several times to google for it, and only today I managed to land here.

Ah, I have two PCs and that happens in both of them.

[Bug 271706] Re: Toshiba Satellite U300 volume wheel sticking

2010-01-17 Thread Zeppe
thanks for the attempt, I'll try myself the patch as soon as I manage (I
have to free some room in the HD for the kernel compilation, I'm afraid
that 3GB aren't enough). However, I suspect that this is not going to
work to me since the output of the dmidecode says:

Product Name: Satellite U300

I believe this case can easily be integrated in the patch though.

[Bug 376233] Re: dvi render blurry

2009-12-02 Thread Zeppe
it looks like being a zoom-related problem. I downloaded the Intro.dvi
file, and on 100% it would render blurry. Setting the zoom to "best fit"
(with buttons, *not* with the drop-down menu) and increasing to 100%
(with "increase zoom"), it would look right (not perfect, but much less
blurry). Setting the zoom to "fit page width" and then reducing to 100%
(with "decrease zoom"), it would look blurry again. Other documents work
the other way round.

[Bug 489248] [NEW] bibtopic support in rubber

2009-11-27 Thread Zeppe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rubber

Bibtopic package is not supported in rubber. Bibtopic is a package to
use multiple bibliographies, with different files and resulting sections
in the final document. It requires bibtex to be called on two different
aux files instead of the typical main aux file with the same name of the
tex document. For this reason, rubber fails when calling bibtex as
usual.

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open OpenOffice Writer, for example (with Impress is the same)
2. From Drawing Toolbar, select "line"
3. Draw a line
4. From Drawing toolbar, select "Points"
5. From the Edit Points toolbar, select "Insert Points"
6. Insert a new point in the line
7. Select the central point in the curve
8. From the Edit Points toolbar, select "Symmetric Transition"
9. Save and enter whatever filename

it will crash.

I tried with both the OpenOffice 2.4 that ships with Ubuntu 8.10 and a freshly
installed OpenOffice 3.0.

[Bug 272073] [NEW] missing texlive style "sfheaders.sty" while using hepthesis class

In texlive, I need to use the document class "hepthesis", that is
included in ubuntu in the package texlive-science.

The version of the package returned by apt-cache is: 2007.dfsg.1-1.

However, this document class requires the style "sfheaders.sty", that is
not included by the texlive-science package, and indeed is not included

[Bug 191024] Re: Synaptics touchpad not detected (SOLVED)

2008-07-17 Thread Zeppe
I managed to have my touchpad working now. I had the following xorg.conf
section:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "AlwaysCore"
Option "SendCoreEvents""true"
Option "Device""/dev/input/event4"
Option "Protocol" "event"
Option "SHMConfig" "true"
Option "LeftEdge" "130"
Option "RightEdge" "840"
Option "TopEdge" "130"
Option "BottomEdge""640"
Option "FingerLow" "7"
Option "FingerHigh""8"
Option "MaxTapTime""180"
Option "MaxTapMove""110"
Option "ClickTime" "0"
Option "EmulateMidButtonTime" "75"
Option "VertScrollDelta" "20"
Option "HorizScrollDelta" "20"
Option "MinSpeed" "0.90"
Option "MaxSpeed" "2.50"
Option "AccelFactor" "0.30"
Option "EdgeMotionMinSpeed""200"
Option "EdgeMotionMaxSpeed""200"
Option "UpDownScrolling" "1"
Option "CircularScrolling" "1"
Option "CircScrollDelta" "0.1"
Option "CircScrollTrigger" "2"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
EndSection

I changed the Device to /dev/psaux, the protocol to auto-dev, and I
removed the line AlwaysCore, i.e.:

Section "InputDevice"
   Identifier "Synaptics Touchpad"
   Driver "synaptics"
   Option "SendCoreEvents""true"
   Option "Device""/dev/psaux"
   Option "Protocol" "auto-dev"
   Option "SHMConfig" "true"
   Option "LeftEdge" "130"
   Option "RightEdge" "840"
   Option "TopEdge" "130"
   Option "BottomEdge""640"
   Option "FingerLow" "7"
   Option "FingerHigh""8"
   Option "MaxTapTime""180"
   Option "MaxTapMove""110"
   Option "ClickTime" "0"
   Option "EmulateMidButtonTime" "75"
   Option "VertScrollDelta" "20"
   Option "HorizScrollDelta" "20"
   Option "MinSpeed" "0.90"
   Option "MaxSpeed" "2.50"
   Option "AccelFactor" "0.30"
   Option "EdgeMotionMinSpeed""200"
   Option "EdgeMotionMaxSpeed""200"
   Option "UpDownScrolling" "1"
   Option "CircularScrolling" "1"
   Option "CircScrollDelta" "0.1"
   Option "CircScrollTrigger" "2"
   Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
EndSection

and now it just works.

Hopefully this will solve other people's problem.

[Bug 172779] openoffice 2.3 defective eps export

2007-11-29 Thread Zeppe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

While exporting a document in eps format, big white margins are introduced on
the right and the bottom of the page, cropping the content.
To reproduce this bug, just create a new document (I did it with Draw) and put
something close to the right and/or the bottom margin, and export the entire
document as eps.

The margins are right when the export is done on selected objects. One
workaround (very bad, and tricky for things like master templates and
page background) is to select all the content and then export the
selection.

Thank you.
