[Bug 1940140] [NEW] Lenovo Ideapad 3-14ITL6 broken (bios nor Ubuntu installer seeing HDD) after trying to install a firmware update
Public bug reported: Hello, I've recently purchased a Lenovo Ideapad 3-14ITL6 and the OS installation (Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS) itself went fine. However there was this firmware update offered so I clicked on it. The entry disappeared from the list in the Software Center for a short wile but has soon (in a few seconds) reappeared. No error, nothing. Then after a few minutes (and without seeing any error log anywhere I've looked) I did try to restart the device. Unfortunately after this point the system wouldn't boot with bios saying "missing boot device". Ubuntu live USB will not see the drive either. I can also unfortunately confirm this does happen regularly as I tried it on a second device today. That's very unfortunate as I am left with a second broken device that I will very probably need to return back to the seller because I don't know what else to do with it. Thank you. [Bug 1835024] Re: Links triggered within most snap apps open in a separate browser session
Ok, gnome-calculator snap seems fixed somehow. But Slack nor Skype still works. [Bug 1758243] Re: bumblebee needs configuration changes to work with nvidia-driver-390 and libglvnd0
@rockorequin - I seem to be able to launch apps with primusrun setting the correct libGL path, but although apps launch that way they are actually not using Nvidia but only the integrated Intel GPU (at least I don't see any performance improvements). In the bumblebee lok I can then see the following issue: [ERROR]Module 'nvidia' is not found. and also this, which seems bad (strangely modprobe seems to be able to load that module just fine but the error in bumblebee is persistent even after restarting the service after modprobe passed): [ERROR]Module 'bbswitch' not found. [WARN]No switching method available. The dedicated card will always be on. I am on 18.10 and so far have been completely unable to use Bumblebee with still not so old Nvidia MX150 GPU. [Bug 1648599] [NEW] OSK inserts display-text vs text difference to web textfields upon cursor move and key press
Public bug reported: Hello, I've noticed many times now (ever since there are auto corrections present in the web browser) that when editing a text field in a web browser - for me usually gmail message composer (I haven't seen this in native apps yet) - the word I just wrote gets inserted to the text upon moving the cursor to a different place and start typing again. That is: 1. Open something like Gmail and start composing a new email message 2. When you have a "few words" written, before you type space after the last word, click to a different position inside the text to move the cursor elsewhere 3. Start typing (anything) In most cases this results in the insertion of the last written word (that was in display-text property but not in the text property - that is if this is similar to QML TextInput) inside the text on the current cursor position. This is definitely an unexpected behaviour and makes editing while while composing a message really painful. I am on rc-proposed, MX4. [Bug 1648593] [NEW] Keyboard usualy not showing up in apps after unlocking the screen
Public bug reported: Hello, for the last month or even more I am experiencing this weird bug with OSK not popping up after putting my phone to "sleep", that is locking the screen and then unlocking it. It mostly happens with Telegram to me, as that is one particular app that I keep running all the time, but I've experienced this in other apps (including my own) as well and therefore expect it not to be related to Telegram at all. Steps to reproduce: 1. Open any app (like Telegram) - OSK should pop up and work upon clicking on any input 2. Lock the device (shut the screen down) -- The length of the phone being asleep seems to have little influence on the actual OSK keyboard behaviour - it seems to be pretty much random -- 3. Unlock the device 4. Switch to the previously opened app if you are not there already Sometimes it is hard for me to reproduce this while other times I seem to be bumping into this every time I unlock the screen - so it is not something I've seen once or twice in my life but is pretty much common. To fix this behaviour switching out of the app and back to it again usually works, though sometimes restarting the app is the only way to get the OSK working. [Bug 1555751] Re: Some apps require a restart after switching to/from Wifi/Cellular to reconnect to the network
Hi, yeah, this is a really an old issue. Nevertheless there are other problems involved here - one thing is the app being unable to work after some change in the connection but the other is the whole OS freezing and reinitializing itself after about 10 to 60 seconds (not rebooting but starting directly from the Ubuntu dotted loading screen). I experience behaviour quite often to be honest, like 1 of 10 times I am using my phone in a subway when my connection fluctuates from none any (I've also seen this when my phone switched from cellular to wireless and the vice versa). I am not sure what happens when my phone is in my pocket untouched though. Sadly those spontaneous "almost-restarts" kill all my applications and any stuff I may be working on there. This happens for me on MX4 and I am not exactly sure when I saw it the first time but it wasn't that long ago ... maybe something like April/May 2016? (just a guess) The system freeze bug I am experiencing may not be related to this though, I am not sure. When Telegram ceases working for me I am usually still able to kill it and start again, sometimes even send a message, before the whole system stops responding. [Bug 1611680] [NEW] Scrolling on some sites is difficult and sometimes even impossible
Public bug reported: Hello, the Czech news site I am reading quite often was recently updated to a new design and as of this update scrolling on the site gets quite tricky. On some articles scrolling is almost impossible. Now this is not the first site I find difficult to scroll on with an Ubuntu's web browser unfortunately, though it is usually the case of some heavy javascript ballast on the site I am sure. The worst experience I am getting so far is on this article: http://www.ceskenoviny.cz/zpravy/francouzska-justice-obvinila-16letou- divku-z-planovani-teroru/1379685 where scrolling is very laggy and more or less only gets me either to the absolute top or the absolute bottom of the article, not anywhere in the middle. Other articles like this one http://www.ceskenoviny.cz/zpravy/ceske- drahy-dostaly-pokutu-150-000-kc-za-chybejici-ceniky/1380181 feels only very laggy but not that bad from my experience. [Bug 1472585] Re: [browser] add support to copy page link to clipboard
Thanks for the info and for the link. Then I guess it is ok to close this thread as Invalid. Only thing that bothers me is that in the future it may be necessary to consider adding copy to clipboard feature to the content hub as some applications don't have address bar and yet it may be a good feature to be able to copy a content from it (like public transport schedule or link to a post in a social network or content aggregator app). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1472585 Title: [browser] add support to copy page link to clipboard To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+bug/1472585/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1469496] [NEW] Error activating /ril_0/context1: org.ofono.Error.Failed: Operation failed

[Bug 1462359] Re: wine currently can not be installed in wily - 15.10
Doesn't work with official Wine PPA either: https://www.winehq.org/download/ubuntu I would appreciate an updated Wine package that works with other bleeding-edge stuff on Wily. This thing with Wine however is from what I observed over the years pretty common and almost every development version of Ubuntu has this problem. In fact I can't remember a single release where Wine would work during the whole period of its development. But then, if you need a more reliable system you should stay on stable releases rather than daily builds. [Bug 1082351] [NEW] Tooltip shown on hover even when pop-up window is over.
Public bug reported: When I executed update-manager on Quantal Quetzal, I noticed a tooltip of a webpage appeared even when the update-manager window was in the front. I would expect a tooltip to disappear when a mouse cursor is moved away from the browser. This behaviour is not common and I was not able to reproduce it again (I assume this is a Unity bug). [Bug 1069069] [NEW] Ubuntu Software Center shows progress button on start
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Software Center shows progress button on start even if nothing is happening. However, if an update or installation/package removal is happening when software-center is opened, the buttons starts responding (shows the status) and after the apt procedure ends it just disappears as it should. [Bug 1066410] Re: lightdm doesn't load correctly on Ubuntu 12.10
I am disappointed I can't close the bug. The problem still persists. The reinstallation of lightdm package affected only first 3 boots after the procedure, but it no longer seems to make any effect. In addition, I've noticed that my mouse pointer is not only visible on virtual terminal 7, but also on every other terminals. How could that be so? However, I can't use the mouse on vt1 through 6. I now assume everything works correctly except the fact I can't see anything (only a cursor) and the cursor is visible on all virtual terminals independently. I can login in lightdm even though I don't see anything, even after unity loads. (lightdm, xorg, compiz - those all works, but for some reason I've got almost blank screen on vt7). To get my screen working I have to either kill lightdm and then start it again, or login through lightdm I don't see and then kill the gnome- session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1066410 Title: lightdm doesn't load correctly on Ubuntu 12.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1066410/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1066410] Re: lightdm doesn't load correctly on Ubuntu 12.10
The possible solution for this is to apt-get purge lightdm pakage and then install it again. However, I am not sure if this will work permanently yet. I will disable the bug later this week if all goes well. The probable reason for this may be some bad configuration that didn't work with the latest lightdm release. [Bug 1066410] [NEW] lightdm doesn't load correctly on Ubuntu 12.10
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 12.10 doesn't load correctly because lightdm shows only a mouse pointer and a blinking command-line cursor. [Bug 1041883] Re: Recent patch to asus-wmi module makes system unbootable
@Ash - Thanks for your solution. It works great (up until now I've been using the noapic linux kernel option). And it works even better than the noapic solution, because somehow, more applications were crashing with noapic = apport was more active and always ended with some lack of ram error message, though more than 2 free GBs were always available. In addition noapic worked only sometimes (was random), thought there was a great chance the system will boot up on the second time, after entering the default boot option in grub (not sure why). This blacklist works great, no problems yet. Seems more stable and has no problems booting.
