[Bug 947443] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 desktop freezes

2012-03-06 Thread _sAm_
Hi

I have added the 3 files you asked for Fabio.

The problem I am reporting is easy to reproduce; I only need to open
Gnome Image viewer and change pictures fast or zoom on large pictures -
and it will freeze. Same happens when I open lots of tabs in Firefox
from Liferea.

Thank you for checking my bug report.

Steffen

[Bug 947443] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 desktop freezes

2012-03-06 Thread _sAm_
Happened again for 3 time today. Last time I had Firefox with 13 tabs,
Transmission running and Thunderbird when it froze hard (would not
respond to CTRL+ALT+FX). Will add new logs (tar.gz file):

Feel free to ask if you need more information.

[Bug 947443] [NEW] Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1 desktop freezes

2012-03-05 Thread _sAm_
Public bug reported:

From time to time the Ubuntu desktop just freezes on me, and I cant use
the keyboard nor the mouse. I looks like it happens when I have many
tabs open in Firefox, but it can also happen when I use other programs
(like Gnome Image Viewer). When it freezes I might be able to use
CTRL+Alt+F4 (when I press several times) so I can shut the pc off with
shutdown -r now command. If not my only option is to turn the power
off (I lose all my work when this happens).

I have a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 1, and I have not installed
the proprietary AMD graphic driver.

This also happened when I tried out the Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 2 on the same
pc. But when I installed and used the xbuntu-desktop on Ubuntu 12.04
Alpha 2 it worked just fine - so it must be something with the Unity
stuff (or compiz). This have never happens before on my pc (I have used
previous versions of Ubuntu on the same hardware).

Some of my hardware:
Intel Core 2 Quad
AMD Radeon HD 5870

I do not know how to read log files - but I can post them if you tell me
where to look.

Thanks for reading.

[Bug 728615] Re: Natty manual partitioning window only displays two devices

2011-03-08 Thread _sAm_
The menu under Allocate drive space is to small imo. and I cant resize
it.

I installed Natty on an Asus U35J laptop (13 screen) and it was hard to
choose the different partitions with the touch-pad. It was also hard to
get an overview over my partitions.

The fixed size for the window is one thing, but if you could show 4 or
more partions it would be much better.

[Bug 711926] Re: [Natty] Couldn't choose correct keyboard layout in Ubiquity

2011-03-08 Thread _sAm_
I installed Natty Alpha 2 yesterday and hit the wrong language under the
«Choose your keyboard layout» (thanks to the touchpad on my laptop).
I tried the go back button but will not get the «Choose your keyboard layout»
screen back, it skips it, and goes to the partition screen. When I click
forward it skips the language menu.
So I had to cancel the installation(I cant enter my name/password under the
Who are you? menu with wrong language).

[Bug 321603] [NEW] Unable to boot Ubuntu server after update/upgrade

2009-01-26 Thread _sAm_
Public bug reported:

OS: Ubuntu 8.04.1 Server

I updated the server with via ssh using sudo aptitude update sudo
aptitude safe-upgrade

Aptitude updated the server kernel from 2.6.24 -19 server too
2.6.24-21 server. After the update/upgrade the server could not boot,
and the error message Grub error 17 was given.

Please notice that I have _not_ deleted any partitions, I have not
changed menu.lst myself before this happend, there is no other OS on the
PC, and I have not changed the sata connections at all.

To fix the problem I used a livecd and wrote this in a terminal:
sudo grub
find /boot/grub/stage1The answer I got was: (hd3,1)
root (hd3,1)
setup (hd3) The answer I got was:
/boot/grub/menu.lst Succeeded
quit

After rebooting the PC I got an new error: Error 22 No Such partition
Every kernels I tried from the menu.lst ended up with the same error.

Here is some information about the system(from running a livecd):
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ sudo fdisk -l

/dev/sdd4 is one LVM
The hard drives called /dev/sda1, /dev/sdb1 and /dev/sdc1 is one LVM.

Using the livecd I mounted / and opend /boot/grub/menu.lst, here you can see it:

To fix the problem I changed manually every (hd0,1) too (hd3,1) in
/boot/grub/menu.lst, and now the system works again.

[Bug 234752] [NEW] Bug in bmpx

2008-05-25 Thread _sAm_
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bmpx

Bug found in musicplayer bmpx, version 0.40.13-2 installed from
Synaptic.

Ubuntu 8.04(32 bits), installed on sw raid 0(with ext3).

bmpx cant open any musicfiles when I go to BMP Prefrences Library tab Add
new music
It gives this error:
No volume for this path was found

BMPx' HAL backend was unable to identify on which volume this path is located.
The adding operation can not proceed.

There is indeed lots of music where I try to open, witch other
musicplayers can open just fine.

The error is the same as reported in bug 108162 for Ubuntu
Feisty(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bmpx/+bug/108162)

Please notice; I also installed bmpx on my 2Ubuntu box witch do not have
sw raid at all, and there I could add music in bmpx(but I don't know if
it can play the music since I am using it via NX server(free version)
witch cant transferee music.

[Bug 149586] Re: [upstream] [hardy] openoffice compiz bug - Wizards' first dialogs far too small (unusable)

2008-05-15 Thread _sAm_
I can confirm this, and I want to add; this bug will also hinder the
user from using dialogs belonging to extensions for OpenOffice.org. Try
«Bookmarks
Menu»(http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/project/bookmarksmenu),
with Compiz on the dialog will get small and you cant change it.

Many users will not understand/learn why they get so small dialogs. For
many OpenOffice is the most important application, and this can bee a
showstopper.
