I also did a clean install.

@tasgo : I just followed the procedure explained at askubuntu, without

@michael-ransbottom : I suspected that, but even after adding the
 xorg-edgers PPA like this :
 '
 '
 sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get install package name
 '
 '
... when trying to install the 'xorg-server' package, I still get messages
like Impossible to find the packet xorg-server.

HOWEVER I decided to remove the libkms1 packet, and then after
reactivating the xorg-edgers repository, the ppa-purge seems to run
ok... I will take you informed if I succeed in upgrading 13.10 to 14.04
 after that... :)

Get upgrade error 12.04 - 12.10 Could not determine upgrade - xorg
   from ppa

Status in “ubuntu-release-upgrader” package in Ubuntu:
   In Progress

 Bug description:
   TEST CASE:
   1. Install a minimal Saucy amd64 (lxc container or VM)
   2. Install software-properties-common if it is not already installed and
 enable xorg-edgers PPA:
 $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa
   3. Install the task ubuntu-desktop
 $ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop^
   4. Upgrade:

   ACTUAL RESULT:
Upgrade fails because it refuses to break the ABI of xorg.

I was reffered to this bug.

is there a solution for 13.10 to 14.04 upgrade?

I reverted the Xorg,
tried again to upgrade
from terminal as well
as from the s/w upgrader,
when it starts calculating

[Bug 1285957] [NEW] upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10 fails

2014-02-27 Thread akis
Public bug reported:

An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Ubuntu

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the
command 'ubuntu-bug ubuntu-release-upgrader-core' in a terminal.

[Bug 470129] Re: 9.10 karmic gdm login fails after changing password (users-admin) when home folder encrypted (ecryptfs)

2009-12-22 Thread Akis

Even the correct password does not enable the decryption, with a cryptic (to
me) message that the key can not be found.

~$ ecryptfs-mount-private
Enter your login passphrase:
Inserted auth tok with sig [924ca7c19293e98c] into the user session keyring
keyctl_search: Required key not available
Perhaps try the interactive 'ecryptfs-mount-private'

Any ideas?

2008-12-02 Thread Akis

Hi Jean, thanks for the reply.
I used the command line to solve this issue but its still not working.
I tried removing the liberation fonts both manually and through synaptic with
root privileges but I still get the same error.
thanks again

[Bug 52940] amd64 socket am2

2006-07-14 Thread BOURL AKIS COS TAS
Public bug reported:

The instalation of desktop and alternative amd64 iso versions can not be
done.

I have an asus m2n sli (nvidia 570 chipset and an amd64 3800x2 socket
am2)

Both versions seems to stop either on acpi or when the ps2 mouse is
initialised, moreover I tried to install the normal x86 desktop version
but again the same problem.

On the other hand the slax livecd boots and everything seems to working
fine.
