Gnome 3.6 is the worst gnome ever, and recursive search removal played a pivotal role on this. Same problem here. zeitgeist is eating 280MB of ram. After zeitgeist-daemon --replace it drops to 1,2 MB, but a single search in the dash makes it spike to the previous levels. Hi Seif, I have the problem as well (on Ubuntu 12.04). Only two points though: 0. The memory consumption comes from zeitgeist-fts rather than zeitgeist-daemon as a couple of guys here signaled 1. I never used Ubuntu One (no need), so I don't know if this can be an useful information 2. What ppa are you talking about? I'm eager to solve this issue as soon as possible! Same problem on SONY VAIO VPCS12C5E, running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 with 2.6.38-7-generic-pae (Natty kernel I think). My CPU is i5-450M, and I also have a dual graphic (NVidia 310M + integrated Intel). A question: doing the workaround I'll simply remove that message or I'll improve my system?
