Then, when updating to version 18 uf Ubuntu LTS, it disappeared, and all my attempts to mess with configuration files to restore it failed. [Bug 1888556] Re: Kernel linux-image-4.4.0-186-generic and nvidia drivers
Ok, I found the cause: I had the meta package linux-image-generic installed, but not the metapackage linux-generic. For that reason, when kernel was upgraded the package with the kernel headers wasn't upgraded, and that caused the issue (that of course disappeared reverting to the previous kernel version) After installing the metapackage linux-generic I managed to update to the new kernel and the nvidia drivers worked as supposed. [Bug 1194841] Re: Upgrade to ff22 enters proxy-settings
The bug affect me, too (I noticed a serious slow-down of browsing, after the upgrade). By going on " Firefox > Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Settings > Configure Proxies", i noticed that when I set "auto-detect proxy", everything works ok, while when I set "use system proxy settings", the settings of the manual proxy configurations are used (although I can't edit them, I have to choose manual configuration to be able to do that). A workaround is to choose auto-detection of proxy. Another workaround (at least for me), is to choose manual proxy configuration, clean proxy fields, and set back to "use system proxy settings". So, user who never used proxy before should not be affected by this bug; but user who used a proxy at least once, and then set back configuration to "system proxy settings", after this upgrade will have the proxy enabled again (if the proxy, meanwhile, has been shut down, browsing the web will become impossible) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1194841 Title: Upgrade to ff22 enters proxy-settings To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1194841/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1071344] Re: 12.04's current virtualbox 4.1.12 crashes (reboots) 32-bit host on running 64-bit guests, please upgrade to 4.1.18+
** Description changed: When running 64-bit guests in 32-bit Ubuntu 12.04, the host with high probably goes into abrupt reboot sooner or later. There's upstream bug for this: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/10528 It reports that the issue was fixed in Virtualbox 4.1.18 . Please consider upgrade for the package in 12.04. Please also consider this as high priority, because abrupt reboots diminishes user experience largely. Thanks. + + [Impact] + This bug could cause a loss of user data: in fact, a crashed session means that all unsaved documents are lost. + + Also, this bug could be a serious security issue: in fact, it can be + used for Denial Of Service attacks: if a server has at least one + unprotected virtual machine (i.e. for test purposes), a malware could + try to launch a 64 bit code to be able to crash not only the virtual + machine (a crash on a test virtual machine does no harm), but the whole + server. This kind of attack could also be unintentional. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1071344 Title: 12.04's current virtualbox 4.1.12 crashes (reboots) 32-bit host on running 64-bit guests, please upgrade to 4.1.18+ To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/virtualbox/+bug/1071344/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1078790] [NEW] Virtualbox OSE crashes in Precise Pangolin if I try to run a 64 bit guest OS in a 32 bit host
Public bug reported: I have Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 32 bit, on a cpu that supports 64 bit, too. If I run a 64 bit version of Ubuntu inside VirtualBox OSE 4.1.12, the host system hangs; no key combination works, the only way to gain control is to press the reset button. A workaround is to disable nmi watchdog, as described here: https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/10528#comment:6 In file /etc/default/grub, put the line: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nmi_watchdog=0 nowatchdog" This will allow VirtualBox to work correctly. Since the bug has already been reported and fixed in newer version of VirtualBox (https://www.virtualbox.org/changeset/41645/vbox ), maybe a simple upgrade could fix it in Ubuntu Precise Pangolin. ** Affects: virtualbox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1078790 Title: Virtualbox OSE crashes in Precise Pangolin if I try to run a 64 bit guest OS in a 32 bit host To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/virtualbox/+bug/1078790/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
