[Bug 1054414] Re: Tries to automount floppy drives
@ Adam Funk That is caused by the new udisks used in Quantal, and has nothing to do whether you have a floppy or not. It is told here that it will be fixed in the next Ubuntu 13.04 release. All Ubuntu Quantal derivatives or distro's using the same udisks have the same problem. We just have to be patient for some more months. Till than: try to blacklist your floppy; perhaps that stops it. Otherwise: downgrade to Precise until the 13.04 arrives. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1054414 Title: Tries to automount floppy drives To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/udisks2/+bug/1054414/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 441835] Re: Clicking on floppy gives "no device media found"
BTW2 It is not an UBUNTU thingy, it is a Linuw thing. You won't get your floppy to work on Fedora are any other distro either. Exept for Puppy. At least the former ones. Though I must say that Udisks2 is not really what I what we (I) expected. It keeps my floppy occupied al the time, so also there a fix is needed. But Udisks2 seems to work. (more or less) Do not forget that this is Linux, and they have to write everything (almost everything) from scratch. Linux had come this far... And it will go on developing. [Bug 441835] Re: Clicking on floppy gives "no device media found"
It is NOT a sollution (I know), but for those who REALLY need a floppy, I suggest you use Puppy, Quirky or Wary. The floppy still works on those. If you should install one of them on harddisk, only 500 MB to 1GB partition is needed. Your floppy will be accessible and you can copy any file from any partition you want to your floppy. Booting into Puppy, Quirky or Wary is very fast. You can also just use the live CD's or put them on a USB stick. But booting from harddisk is faster and it is always there when you need it, and also: you only need to make configurations once. It's not so handy as getting access to your floppy from your base Linux system, but it works, and that is what most of us need, isn't it? Same here. Kernel panic when trying to log in Mandriva 2010 and PCLinuxOS 2010. Can this be (one of) the reason(s)? A disk is in both GRUB's referred to differently. Re: [Bug 1] Re: Microsoft has a majority market share
Okay. I agree that Vista was a huge mistake of Microsoft. Win 7 is (good fo us) better. I use several flavours of Linux and I do like it very much. Personally I prefer Gnome. Though in the early years there were many problems according hardware, these issues are mostly (not all) solved. The Linux community is working very hard. And especially that makes Linux very interesting for me. Everyone can get involved in Linux; you do not have to be a developer, one can just help by testing, get involved that way. And there are so many flavours that surely there must be one Linux for everyone somewhere. Microsoft has only the few versions it sells. Mind you, some people are working on a deriviate of Windows (ReactOs http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html) and I'm watching it's progression. Because every OS has his own ad- and disadvantages, one has to give every OS the benefit of the doubt. But, and this is my conclusion, Linux really gets better every day. I get around it by editing /etc/rc.local and add --- ifconfig wlan0 up iwconfig wlan0 rate 54M fixed exit 0 --- It is not solely an Ubuntu problem, because I have the same problem with Mandriva One installed on the computer. Now, last week I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on somebody else's computer and I used a Belkin USB stick to connect at the time. The computer was also a Dell, from the Demension series. Same problem. The broadband connection did hardly reach the speed of a telephone line connection. Same work around. So because of both times using a Belkin removeble card, I was thinking that it might be caused by the Belkin drivers. On the other hand. I read here on the side that many people with many different cards experience the same problem. So it might even be a kernel problem. But only happening on laptops, because my desktop using the same Belkin USB Card, does not have that problem. It puzzles me. And along with me, many others. The work around is easy, but only for those who know it. It might even not work on everybody's machines. I don't know. But please, try to figure out what is going on with the wireless connection on laptops, and preferably find a sollution. -- very slow network https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311531 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have a radeon hd 2400 pro and have the same problems. Jaunty can't run fglrx. Sorry, but I do not have that cd of that day no more, so I can not do as you asked. Anyway, the later cd's all work fine. [Bug 313027] Re: MASTER: fglrx does not support xserver 1.6
I have a ATI radeon HD 2400 pro. I can do nothing but wait. Somewhere here it was said that the "fix date" target was the beta release of Ubuntu 09.04. It cannot come too soon. Though just disabling "fglrx" in "xorg.conf", and adding some info about your own preferences in the "corg.conf" file (e.g.: resolution of your working desktop, lets you keep on working. I will not file another bug report about this before the release of the first beta. You people know what's going on. But for working smoothly on a machine running an ATI card, this bug needs to be resolved rather fast. I do not mean to push. But Ubuntu 08.10 was released too soon too be a stable release. Hopefully the next release is not about "time", but about "ready" and "finished". In my opinion 08.10 had not been allowed to be released at that point. Hopefully 09.04 is what 08.10 should have been. -- MASTER: fglrx does not support xserver 1.6 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/313027 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
