2021-07-13 Thread Buster Foxx
Public bug reported:

I have moved my Ubuntu installation to a new UEFI hard drive. I copied
the partitions over to the new drive using GParted, and then used boot
repair to get Ubuntu to boot again (I did this using an Ubuntu startup
disk. I had several OS's running ( 3 Ubuntu's & 1 Windows). I am now
running 1 of the Ubuntu installations, and was running a system update
when this happened. I am going to run boot-repair again to try to get
the other OS's on the hard drive to boot.

[Bug 412119] [NEW] Copying NTFS partition full might cause NTFS errors

2009-08-11 Thread Buster
Public bug reported:

I have Maxtor 120GB HDD with two NTFS partitions.

I copied the second NTFS partition full from another HDD with Kubuntu
Dolphin and with the next boot destination filesystem (the second
partition only) was corrupted... (the source partition was also NTFS if
it makes any difference :) )

I had to run CHKDSK from Windows to fix the partition... aparantly many
index entries were faulty.

It's likely that the copying was somewhat faulty because the index
entries were corrupted for the files which should have been copied.

[Bug 174366] Re: evolution-data-server often freezes pidgin

2009-05-12 Thread buster
I am using Jaunty 64bit and already added a launcher to my panel with "killall
evolution-data-server-2.26" because on a normal workday the data-server brings
pidgin or evolution to halt.
Which means:
I don't get new pidgin messages until i kill the eds.
I don't get new mail until i kill eds.
I can't read IMAP mails, because the preview pane hangs in "formatting the
message". until i kill eds.

this is really annoying as i am working for a mail company and do a lot through
emails..
I came accustomed to just click the launcher once in a while, now.

I don't know how i can help with dumps or logs, because nothing is
crashing, it just hangs and does nothing.

[Bug 138552] Re: package linux-ubuntu-modules-2. 6.22-10-generic None failed to install/upgrade: le sou s-processus post-removal script a retourné une erreur de sortie d'état 1

2007-11-09 Thread buster
Marcelo: Your solution posted (and attached file) allowed me to remove
linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-10-generic
I sure as heck did not want to reinstall Ubuntu as I already spent hours
getting my Tablet features (right-click button on Wacom, autorotate, etc, etc)
to work. And I need to install more packages. I am now saved. Thanks.
