Re: [Bug 1779185] Re: Brother MFC-9440CN will not scan with 18.04 LTS

2018-07-02 Thread cigtoxdoc
I have given up fighting scanning on PCs using 18.04. It is easier to
reboot the PC to windows, do the scanning from windows and use Ext2
volume manager to send the files back to the drives used by Ubuntu.
Devices and software (PDF Studio Pro) that worked very well under 16.04
don't work under 18.04. My main reason for going to 18.04 was to get
rid of a version of evolution that had problems ans was no longer
support. My consulting business runs on evolution (primarily for
e-mail).

I should not have to worry if a PC has USB2 or a combination of USB2 and
USB3

Have you tried this workaround described in
bughttps://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sane-
backends/+bug/1741977message #4? Are you using USB3 socket? Does it work
on USB2?

[Bug 1779185] [NEW] Brother MFC-9440CN will not scan with 18.04 LTS

2018-06-28 Thread cigtoxdoc
Public bug reported:

Have Brother MFC-9440CN multifunctional system connected to PC running
18.04 LTS. Everything on the MFC-9440CN worked before upgrade from
16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS. All Brother software for this device downloaded
and installed after upgrade, including the UDEV package. Xsane and all
other required packages loaded.

Scanner will not work. If I reboot PC to run Win XP (all my PCs are
dual boot), scanner works fine.

[Bug 1763350] [NEW] Problems with Evolution 3.28.1-1 (Webkit)

2018-04-12 Thread cigtoxdoc
Public bug reported:

When I upgraded from 16.04 LTS to 18.04 LTS, I received a new version of
Evolution. I was involuntarily upgraded from 3.20.1 to 3.28.1-1.
Evolution 3.28.1-1 has some major bugs. When I reply, the text of the
message I am not replying to is NOT included. The same problem occurs
when I forward a message as inline. Moreover, when I attempt to add a
signature, I get broken pipe errors. Please see output below when I
started Evolution from the CLI.

How do I get a fully functional Evolution back???

The solution given above works correctly untul evolution (3.10.4)

pop mail server or it throughs all sorts of bogus errors plus removes
the passwords.

Sebastian,

The problem is unexplained error codes is that they leave the newbie without
any direction on how to proceed. When I put error out on correct forums and
no one replies, what is one to do? I even put error on Gnome forum and got
no reply.

If the experts who wrote the code do not know how to handle the problem,
what are general users to do.?

was able to explain what the error code meant, how to troubleshoot the

cides that thet themsleve do not know how to interpret, and they do not
know how to fix.

until 6 July so I am not in front of PC to give you .xsession-errors
information. Since the only way I could find that would be to force
terminal mode what directory should I go to.

Two things that would help are: 1) How do I troubleshoot this particular

bonobo-activation server; and 2) If I reformat hard drive and reload Ubuntu,
how do I keep from getting this error again?

Thank you for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? Do you have

[Bug 123824] The error code is:

2007-07-03 Thread cigtoxdoc
Public bug reported:

Gnome loads. You input username and pasword.

You then get an error message dealing with registering a panel and the
bonobo-activation server and how this cannot be done. You then get a
statement saying The error code is: 1

No one on Ubuntu and Gnome forums seem to know anything about this
error, where it came from and how to fix it.

Error is FATAL

John
