[Bug 361689] Re: hald segfault when using a raid volume

2009-05-05 Thread cmorgan
Mobrien118, I agree that there should be some consideration of its
importance. Maybe it isn't that big of a deal since few people have raid
sets on their computers. It cost me several hours of rebooting and
googling before I thought to boot into recovery console, install openssh
and then log in with another machine to look at the dmsg output. I
considered myself fortunate to have stumbled upon the solution here
since the failure case is very confusing. If hald is so critical maybe
there should be a better way of reporting these errors to the user.

[Bug 365857] [NEW] bcm4328 wifi card doesn't work with a clean install

2009-04-23 Thread cmorgan
Public bug reported:

Bcm4328 card isn't working by default. This thread shows a work around for it
so it appears to be configuration related
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1134631

It would be nice if this had an easier fix than several reboots with
disabling/enabling the card in-between.

Found a comment on a thread that suggested removing the ssb kernel
module and installing the wl one, ran:

sudo rmmod ssb
sudo modprobe wl

And wireless is working for me. I'm not sure how to keep it working
after a reboot though.

[Bug 363228] Re: mediatomb to ps3 can't play .mov/x264 files

2009-04-18 Thread cmorgan
Well I'm thinking it would be useful to have this kind of thing be a
part of the default installation of mediatomb rather than something each
user has to configure themselves. Of course its fixable by each
individual user but it seems like this is at worst a 'wishlist' kind of
issue vs. an invalid one.

[Bug 363228] [NEW] mediatomb to ps3 can't play .mov/x264 files

2009-04-17 Thread cmorgan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mediatomb

After enabling ps3 support I'm not able to play .mov/x264 format files
on the ps3 from mediatomb. The file format is reported as 'unrecognized'
by the ps3.

I'm still trying to find a work-around for the issue via mediatomb
settings but it would be useful to support this relatively standard
format by default.

[Bug 330282] [NEW] makecert utility not included in any mono package

2009-02-16 Thread cmorgan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mono

Mono's makecert utility isn't included in any mono package. This utility
was present in gutsy but not present in hardy or intrepid. While it
isn't frequently used, it is the documented way to generated ssl keys
and certificates for use with Mono's ssl implementation.

This utility is a part of the mcs security tools, http://anonsvn.mono-
project.com/viewvc/trunk/mcs/tools/security/

[Bug 325859] [NEW] [needs-packaging] SharpPcap

2009-02-05 Thread cmorgan
Public bug reported:

SharpPcap is a .net library that uses WinPcap and libpcap, depending on
the platform, to capture and process packets. It is developed on both
Windows and Linux and works under Mono.

There are a few other libraries that fill the same role but they don't
appear as well developed and they aren't present in either Debian or
Ubuntu repositories.

Homepage: http://sharppcap.sf.net
License: MPL 1.1

I'm one of the developers of this library and can be reached for help
etc. The latest release is from 2007 but the svn version is much more
up-to-date. If a new release is necessary for packaging I can do one
whenever I get the word. I'm planning on releasing a new version soon
but I can do whatever necessary to help with the packaging.

Thanks,
Chris

[Bug 291598] [NEW] ktorrent very high memory usage

2008-10-31 Thread cmorgan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ktorrent

Left ktorrent running over night and it was using a crazy amount of
memory.

Ubuntu intrepid amd64.

$ ktorrent --version
Qt: 4.4.3
KDE: 4.1.2 (KDE 4.1.2)
KTorrent: 3.1.2

$ apt-cache policy ktorrent
ktorrent:
  Installed: 3.1.2+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 3.1.2+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 3.1.2+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com intrepid/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

I see ktorrent using 1.2G of memory. There was another bug reported that
looks like this issue but it was marked as fixed in
3.1.2+dfsg.1-0ubuntu2, but I'm still seeing the issue here.
