[Bug 189774] Re: seahorse shows passwords without verification
Indeed. I want also to stress that this is a very serious security issue (e.g. when working in environments with multiple working people, in the train, etc). Before ending here, I just figured out that I could display my login passwd in seahorse without any security barrier as well. It basically takes 10 secs for anybody to read one's login passwd in clear text. [Bug 522116] [NEW] Packaging RetroShare
Public bug reported: Hi, We've finally come up with an alpha version of RetroShare 0.5 (http://retroshare.sourceforge.net) RetroShare is a file exchange / mail / chat / forum plateform based on PGP authentication and SSL communications. It allows multi-hop F2F file transfer, from multiple/partial sources. We already have a script to make a source Ubuntu package, that compiles cleanly with pbuilder for karmic and jaunty (32 and 64 bits. The only ones I tested). We would really enjoy RetroShare to be available as an Ubuntu package. [Bug 50534] Re: Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition
It's not really an issue anymore: - nautilus does not display anything about this encrypted partition (There's nothing in /etc/fstab, maybe that's the reason) - to mount it, I use "pmount /dev/sda8", which works fine on condition to add "/dev/sda8" in /etc/pmount.allow Si I've created a launcher to call this properly. [Bug 204238] Re: compiz crashes randomly when using a Qt OpenGL Widget
Good news, well I hope so... I wanted to use nvidia-settings to tune antialiasing parameters, and I realized that compiz does some pretty nasty manipulations of displays when used in combination with Xgl (It runs on display :2.0 or :3.0. It seems that the nvidia driver can only access display :0.0, so the nvidia-settings program complained that I didn't have the nvidia driver...) Never mind, I uninstalled package xserver-xgl, rebooted, and now it seems that I don't get this stupid crash anymore (I had to really reboot to get rid of the bug. Logging out was not sufficient appearantly). Of course, I can't tell for sure this is a 100% working workaround, but I really tried a high number of times (40? 50?) and still no crash. @all: Could you do the same manipulation i.e. removing xserver-xgl, reboot, and retry. This could help spotting the problem. As a side effect, compiz works perfectly without xgl. Why do I have this installed ?? Good question. Maybe it's a heritage from previous ubuntu versions where xgl was needed to run Beryl and co. -- compiz crashes randomly when using a Qt OpenGL Widget https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/204238 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 48196] Re: gnome-hal fails to handle encrypted HD partition correctly
I'm using Feisty now, and things have changed: - I can mount the partition using pmount ("pmount /dev/sda6"), and it gets mapped to /media/disk, which makes sense. Still, I have strange behaviour: - just after mounting, I get a graphical message (from nautilus ?) saying that only root can access my disk, which is obviously wrong since I can browse it afterwards - once the disk is mounted, hal (or pmount ??) seems to remember my passphrase (I can click on the disk in the disk mounter utility, select mount, and the disk mounts without passphrase), which is something I do not want at all: I expect that, when umounting the device, the passphrase should not be stored anywhere. Public bug reported: When using a user/passwd nfs server one needs to add +::: in /etc/group and +:: in /etc/passwd. This produces unwanted entries in the user setting interface (empty lines with just a '+'). These should be filtered I guess, because it does not correspond to a specific user name. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Unexpected display of /etc/group nfs entry in the user setting interface. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107422 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 107420] Incorrect update of /etc/group when changing user's main group
Public bug reported: Hi, After changing my main group in the system->administration->users and groups interface from csoler (the default, which is also my login name) into users, the file /etc/group was not changed accordingly: I expected to see that the "users" group would have a new entry named "csoler" (my login name), but it did not. ** Affects: gnome-desktop (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Incorrect update of /etc/group when changing user's main group https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/107420 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 50534] Re: Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition
I'm sorry, but this was a long time ago, and I'm now using edgy. In the present case, the disk mounter applet does not display anything about the encrypted partition, and I mount it using: pmount /dev/sda6 private this mounts the device in /media/private. To answer your question, the fstab does not contain anything about /dev/sda6. Indeed, I don't want this device to be mounted everytime, but only on demand. I guess your fstab is also empty of encrypted disks. -- Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/50534 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 50538] Disks manager does not recognize format of luks encrypted partition
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a 2GB luks-encrypted partition on my HD, (which is handled properly with pmount-hal when login in) but the 'system->administration->Disks' application does not recognise the format of the partition (displays "unknown"). Also, when entering an access path (to replace "none") and clicking on 'Enable", nothing happens. [Bug 50534] Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition
Public bug reported: Hi, I have a luks encrypted partition (2GB) on my HD which appears as an icon in the disk mounter applet. When clicking on the icon, I get a menu with entries "mount 2GB volume" (enabled) and "open 2GB volume" (disabled, which makes sense). Still ok. Now, when I click on "mount 2GB volume", nothing happens, and I'm not asked for a passwd, although when I log on, pmount-hal asks me for one and I can still choose to mount the partition when loging in. config: dapper drake ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Disk mount applet can not mount a luks encrypted partition https://launchpad.net/bugs/50534 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
