[Bug 94942] Re: Fails to build with module-assistent against 2.6.20
Same thing here. I investigated a little bit and the shfs kernel module seems to unmaintained since 2004. There are at least 2 kernel changes that make 2.6.20 incompatible with the module. However, there is a package sshfs which provides equivalent functionality using fuse. Install it and add your user to the fuse group, then do sshfs Host:RemotePath LocalMountPoint Unfortunately mount -t sshfs ... does not seem to be supported. Conclusion: Use sshfs, shfs-source is unmaintained, broken and should be removed. da1l6 -- Fails to build with module-assistent against 2.6.20 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/94942 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 82959] synaptic tries to run gksu on kubuntu
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic When installing synaptic on Kubuntu (faisty herd3), it fails to start from K-Menu or via synaptic in the run command box. When starting synaptic this way, kdesu pops up asking the user password for running command gksu synaptic. This fails since gksu is not installed on kubuntu. It seems a little absurd, since kdesu is obviosly started. So why use gksu? When running synaptic from the terminal it does not try to run as root. [Bug 68385] Re: eclipse exits with a kdialog error
Hello Can confirm this. The Eclipse start scipt does not handle the different dialogs properly. Looking at it gives me a slight WTF feeling! The beginning: if [ -x /usr/bin/zenity ]; then DIALOG=/usr/bin/zenity elif [ -x /usr/bin/kdialog ]; then DIALOG=/usr/bin/kdialog elif [ -x /usr/bin/xdialog ]; then DIALOG=/usr/bin/xdialog else DIALOG=echo fi The last one is especially cool, since this would echo the whole *dialog parameter list on the terminal! [Bug 61603] Re: nvidia module not found
Not sure if we are talking about the same (this applies to the propitary nvidia driver): ALWAYS when updating the kernel to a new revision (during regular system update with adept-update or apt-get dist-upgrade) X fails to start on the next boot simply because the linux-restricted-modules have not been installed for the new kernel version and so the propitary nvidia driver fails. This is a critical problem (a X failure alwasy is) especially bacause this happens without any indication visible to the user. I noticed this problem since the first Edgy knots but stored it under small dependency problem, will be fixed soon but it is still present in the beta state.
