[Bug 1871420] Re: vlc keeps forgetting volume. Starts at 0%
Don't bother reporting upstream. VLC is not responsible for restoring volume, PulseAudio (or WirePlumber) is. And if it does not work, then that is most likely a problem with the system configuration, and most certainly not with upstream VLC. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1871420 Title: vlc keeps forgetting volume. [Bug 1970675] Re: Ubuntu update removed Digikam and I can't re-install it!
Yes, it is 22.04. Everything was perfect before the update. But I took no chances and did a system back-up using Aptik. Did the update, Digikam was REMOVED from the system, I have no idea why this occurred. Tried to re-install via synaptic and got the same result as with apt-get install! I've determined that the root of the problem has something to do with digikam-private-libs. Both versions available, 4:7.6.0-0ubuntu1~22.04.sav0 (jammy) and 4:7.5.0-3fakesync1 (jammy), refer to libsndio7.*** (something) there are also two versions for that. [Bug 1964664] Re: libsndio7.0 : Breaks: libsndio7.1 (<= 1.8.1-1~exp2) but 1.8.1-1~exp2 is to be installed
It is anyway silly for VLC to feature the sndio support on Linux. (I happen to have written the VLC sndio plugin, and I'd argue that) sndio is inferior in every possible ways to ALSA or PulseAudio, and should only be used where needed, meaning mostly OpenBSD. AFAICT, it is built because VLC depends on libfluidsynth-dev, which depends on SDL, which somehow depends on libsndio-dev (probably for bad reasons). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1964664 Title: libsndio7.0 : Breaks: libsndio7.1 (<= 1.8.1-1~exp2) but 1.8.1-1~exp2 is to be installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sndio/+bug/1964664/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1579640] Re: IPv6 nameservers not removed from /etc/resolv.conf when switching to a IPv4 network
rdnssd simply tracks the kernel notion's of what are the RDNSS at a time. The kernel did not send expiration for the entries when you left the network, hence the entries are considered still valid. What you want is an integrated IPv4/IPv6 connection manager, like e.. network-manager. This is way out of scope of rdnssd. ** Changed in: ndisc6 (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579640 Title: IPv6 nameservers not removed from /etc/resolv.conf when switching to a IPv4 network To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ndisc6/+bug/1579640/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Can confirm https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1835660/comments/26 What I did was I changed `COMPRESS=lz4` to `COMPRESS=gzip` in `/etc/initramfs-tools/initramfs.conf`, then `sudo update-initramfs -u` After, without a reboot I've changed `COMPRESS` back to `lz4`, and then `sudo update-initramfs -u` And after the reboot that error is gone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1835660 Title: initramfs unpacking failed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/1835660/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
I tried text trick already, but unfortunately it doesn’t really solve the problem. All of the regular UI elements (icons etc) remain tiny. I would really suggest if we could please not go that route, and instead focus on fixing the scaling properly, if possible. Re: [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
Running into this on a single 4k monitor with 125%, which worked well on 19.10. Now with 20.04, every time I click on 125% it will show the “zoomed in” portion of the screen instead (so when I move mouse to the edges of the screen, it “slides” the viewport towards that instead). In addition, it doesn’t preserve the 125% setting as others mentioned. Using proprietary Nvidia driver. [Bug 1797417]
(In reply to Andre Miranda from comment #16) > Created attachment 8663 [details] > screenshot > > gtk3.24.8+177+gae2ef1472c-1 here on Arch, only network-manager-applet is > weird when compositing is disabled. I was playing with that again because I noticed that when playing a video in mpv my CPU was way more active that it should be: to make a long story short, both Xorg and xfwm4 use one full equivalent core each out of 4 on this core i7 laptop, and almost nothing with compositing off. Anyway, I would have agreed with you about the issue being limited to nm-applet, until I found out that after a few back-and-forth of the compositing on/off setting I could make all the other icons in my panel go dark background and messed up. So, if all you see is a messed up nm- applet icon I want to say: try harder ;-) This issue infuriates me, especially when I have to use my laptop on battery. I want to help but I don't know how to. It's nice and all, and may be entirely justified, to blame gtk for the issue, but at some point, if it's limited to the xfce4-panel I can't imagine the gtk aka gnome people being sympathetic to the situation. I think in this case we need to admit gtk will never care enough to fix it and xfce4-panel will have to apply local fixes. I can understand you guys being time limited. But could you please give us here some pointers as to where to start looking? The OP talked about systray_plugin_box_draw() and systray_plugin_box_draw_icon() in systray.c, is that correct? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1797417 Title: Background of system tray icons not drawn properly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-panel/+bug/1797417/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1821738] [NEW] A userspace process hangs in d-state forever in a virtual machine environment with a virtio-scsi disk
Public bug reported: Ubuntu 4.15.0-46.49-generic 4.15.18 It happens because the process is waiting for its request completion which never happens. The reason for the hung request is a race condition inside the block layer. Namely, there is a race condition with a long request. Each request has a timer. When timer fires it sets REQ_ATOM_COMPLETE and clears it after finishing. The request completion checks REQ_ATOM_COMPLETE and if it is set the completion returns doing nothing and never executes again, thinking that the request doesn't need any attention anymore since it's actually completed. Thus, if the request completion starts executing when the timer handler is in progress it just returns seeing that the complete flag is set, then the timer clears the complete flag and the request stays in the system forever executing the timer handler again and again which just rearms itself. This happens with the long-running requests only. By default, the request timeout is 30 seconds so there should be a request which execution time > 30 seconds. This is a rare case for local hardware storages but may appear more often when the storage is accessed via a network. The behavior described affects mainstream 4.13, 4.14, 4.15 kernels and rh7-3.10.0-957.5.1.el7 kernel based systems. Before 4.13 - the timer didn't rearm itself and just aborted the request. The patch rearming the timer was introduced in 4.13: e72c9a2a67a6400c "scsi: virtio_scsi: let host do exception handling" After 4.15 the block layer switched to using MQ scheme in block layer which isn't prone to this kind of races. In recent kernel >=5.0 there is the only MQ scheme left and the legacy race-prone block layer code has been removed. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: block layer virtio-scsi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1821738 Title: A userspace process hangs in d-state forever in a virtual machine environment with a virtio-scsi disk To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1821738/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Can confirm that console performance is back to normal again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1808183 Title: ASPEED server console output extremely slow after upgrade to 18.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1808183/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1810765] [NEW] Invalid default name when saving
Public bug reported: When scanning a document and then saving it as a PDF file, the default name is (for French users) "Document numérisé.pdf". I guess because of the accented characters, a dialog box appears 3 (indeed, 3!) times warning this file name is invalid. The user has to close each of these 3 dialog boxes before being able to access to the "Save as..." dialog box, change the default file name for one without accents and, finally, save its document. I suggest to replace "Document numérisé.pdf" by just "Document.pdf" or by "Document numerise.pdf". ** Affects: simple-scan (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1810765 Title: Invalid default name when saving To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/simple-scan/+bug/1810765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1797417]
TL;DR Downgrading to gtk+ 3.22 doesn't fix this issue for me. I just had time to try downgrading gtk+ to test if this was fixing this issue here. I first downgraded gtk+ to 3.22.30, then to 3.22.19 (the oldest gtk+ 3 in Gentoo), then tried rebuilding all core XFCE packages against gtk+ 3.22.19, rebooted every time I tested, and none of that fixed it.
