[Bug 886088] [NEW] Eclipse crashes on startup

2011-11-04 Thread dep
Public bug reported:

I'm in a situation similar to the one presented in this question:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+question/156827
I'm trying to use Eclipse 3.6.2~exp-1~natty1~ppa1 in Ubuntu 11.04 (Linux
2.6.38-12-generic) x86_64.
The solution suggested in the question link does not work. It's worth noting
that after installing from the PPA, I first got an error of a missing
xulrunner-2.0. This went away after installing the package in question, but the
actual problem remains. The log is attached.

[Bug 708479] Re: Dash view should use "Prefferred Applications" icons where appropriate

2011-08-23 Thread dep
This is still an issue in 3.8.16-0ubuntu1~natty1. I have Opera set at the
preferred application for Web and email, but the dash shows Firefox, or, if I
uninstall it, Chrome. I've also set Opera as the default x-www-browser via sudo
update-alternatives:
"x-www-browser - manual mode
  link currently points to /usr/bin/opera"

As of now, I've not tried with Unity2D.

[Bug 812530] [NEW] Unity Launcher does not work over Remote Desktop Viewer

2011-07-18 Thread dep
Public bug reported:

When viewing one Ubuntu 11.04 desktop from another computer with Ubuntu
11.04 using Vinagre, the Unity launcher does not appear on mouseover
(the default behavior is to withdraw the launcher into the left side of
the screen when a window is blocking the space it occupies when open).
The launcher works well when operated locally, so there seems to be
something wrong with the way Vinagre sends the mouse position: the
launcher begins to appear when the mouse moves to the left-hand side,
but gets stuck in the beginning of the fade-in.

[Bug 702598] [NEW] No support for VX2SE docking station audio connectors

2011-01-13 Thread dep
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: alsa-base

Hi,
I have an Asus VX2SE. The audio ports on the laptop work, but the ones on the
docking station do not.

Here's my ALSA info: http://www.alsa-
project.org/db/?f=35eed400425083de4af0f461043a0b151694dec6

cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#* | grep Codec
reports
Codec: Realtek ALC660-VD
Codec: Generic 1543 Si3054 (not sure what the second one is).

I've tried setting
options snd-hda-intel model=
in
/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
to 5stack, asus-v1s, 3stack and, of course, auto (found in
http://git.alsa-project.org/?p=alsa-kernel.git;a=blob;f=Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio-Models.txt;hb=HEAD
). I even tried asus, which is not listed under 660VD at all.

Just to be clear, my computer has built-in speakers, headphone out and
line in on the body, and headphone out and line in on the docking
station.

Appreciate any suggestions you might have.

[Bug 568507] Re: Drop-down menus allow infinite scroll

2010-04-25 Thread dep
The importance of this bug anything but low.
For example, at a resolution of 800x600, when you first try to set up an
account in Empathy and you click to choose a provider from the list, the
drop-down menu touches the lower edge of the screen. Without scrolling or doing
anything, at the top of the menu there is a lot of empty space that shouldn't
be there. If you scroll up, that space becomes bigger.

[Bug 568540] Re: OpenOffice -Options icons are different from the ones from the default theme

2010-04-22 Thread dep
There are only 10 or so icons that should be overwritten so it's really not a
big deal.
These should be some consistency in the application and with the default
desktop theme.
For the same thing, you cannot have one icon in the application's toolbar and a
completely different one (which looks like it was designed in the '80s) in the
application's options.

[Bug 568507] [NEW] Drop-down menus allow infinite scroll

2010-04-22 Thread dep
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 10.4 RC and previous releases

1. Open any GTK application that has a drop-down menu (Empathy, Firefox -> save
as, GIMP, etc)
2. Position the application window so that when the drop-down menu is opened it
touches the lower edge of the screen
3. With the mouse wheel, you can now scroll up infinitely

See the attached screenshot from Empathy

[Bug 488679] Re: ubuntu 8.04 freezes for no apparent reason

2009-11-26 Thread Khushil Dep
Hi mate,

No the '#' indicates your command line prompt so all you need to enter
is:

strace -o ~/bug488679.trace -f -e trace=all -v openoffice.org

Once the hand occurs and you've recovered, you will find the file
bug488679.trace in your trace directory. I changed the location this
time as I believe /tmp gets cleared on reboot! Oops! :-)

Hi,

Could you run:

#strace -o /tmp/bug488679.trace -f -e trace=all -v openoffice.org

Please use as normal until hang and then attach the trace file to this
bug. Can you also let us know what you were doing as exactly as possible
when the hang occurred.

TIA
Khush

[Bug 226851] Re: Users "not root" don't works correctly

2008-05-06 Thread luca dep
The user was made by this script (where X and Y are user and password)
CREATE USER X IDENTIFIED BY 'Y';
and privileges with
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON *.* TO 'X'@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'Y' WITH GRANT OPTION;

FLUSH PRIVILEGES;
so I flushed privileges after giving them.
The error was on access:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ mysql -u X -p
Enter password:
ERROR 1045 (28000): Access denied for user 'X'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
I used the same script to generate the db on a gutsy, with tha same version of
mysql (5.0) and got no errors there.

[Bug 226851] [NEW] Users "not root" don't works correctly

2008-05-05 Thread luca dep
Public bug reported:

On my Ubuntu Hardy mysql doesn't works correctly with users that are not
root. In first instance, an user with password is not recognized, access
is denied with correct password. Of course this is not the case of users
without password. But also in this case something doesn't works: users
with all privileges or partial privileges on some DB, can't work on the
DBs, so the only way to manipulate the DBs is to access with root user.

[Bug 226847] [NEW] Jars and Java Applications doens't work correctly on Hardy

2008-05-05 Thread luca dep
Public bug reported:

I have two machines, one running Gutsy (PC) and the other running Hardy
(Notebook). On the first my Java application (swing-based) works correctly, as
in Windows, but on the notebook Dell XPS M1530 mounting Hardy the application
doesn't work, JFrames are not launched after their calls, not everytime, but it
mean that I have to click so much time in a button to call next windows, and so
I collect a number of void windows that can't be operativeine .
Mine is a Java project running form terminal, nade with net beans, launched
with a Jar, that is linked to a DB to make queries and views, but it worked and
works correclty, perfectly, on gutsy.
