i have same trouble with my usb webcam Logitech Quickcam 3000 ( http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/support-downloads/downloads/business-products/devices/4783 ) Video works but microphone not. In settings->sound i see webcam in INPUT tab list, but when i click (also twice) nothing change. i have this trouble in interpid whithout compiz. So... if make aiglx disabled in xorg.conf DRI not load and videocard works slow (scrolling with breakouts). P.S. well.. finally i had install fglrx and had add params from this page http://www.compiz.org/ATI to my xorg.conf. Errors in xorg.log are the same. so i found on ati site latest catalyst...they are write tath radeon hd 3470 is supported by it. well... i had download it, installed and had run aticonfig --initial and aticonfig --initial=check. It wrote all fine, fgrlx section found. Ok... let's restart X. Done. Try to run compiz - white screen for a few seconds and then message that it can't enable. In xorg.log i found error. (EE) fglrx(0): firegl_SetSuspendResumeState FAILED -1003. And i can't do anything throuth keyboard, only reset button. i think it's video-driver, because i had look a strange effect on screen just before system die.
