[Bug 1855469] Re: gnome-shell lags on wayland

2020-02-13 Thread domak
Hello,

You're right, the problem is linked with the memory and swapoff was a
workaround that worked only if the need of memory was not too high.

I installed a kernel 5.4, and the problem also disapeared. I will stay
with this, even if the laptop is not in stand by mode when I close the
lid.

Before installing the new kernel it was easy to reproduce, just open an app
that need a lot of memory (intellij idea) and a few chromium tabs, but as the
system freezed I could not even access to a terminal.

Thanks

It seems that swapoff -a is good workaround.

[Bug 1855469] Re: gnome-shell lags on wayland

2019-12-13 Thread domak
Hi,
I was able to reproduce the problem with Xorg.
It seems to be a problem with the 5.3 kernel:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/1185491/ubuntu-19-10-freezes-and-lags-reguarly?_ga=2.54982253.715083533.1576259634-605647910.1573162641

I'm going to see if I'm able to install a 5.4 kernel (I'm not very
confident on that).

[Bug 1855469] [NEW] gnome-shell lags on wayland

2019-12-06 Thread domak
Public bug reported:

see https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/boosting-the-real-time-performance-
of-gnome-shell-3-34-in-ubuntu-19-10/13095/24

I’m using ubuntu on wayland for a while (Unity and Gnome since Unity abandon).
But with ubuntu 19.10 upgrade, Gnome was so slow and laggy that I had thought
to downgrade or a new laptop. I switched back to Xorg and now everything is as
smoth as usual.
I have an intel card, don’t know if it can help.

[Bug 1748639] Re: system doesn't boot on battery

2018-02-12 Thread domak
As suggested somewhere (cannot find the source but it was on a old
version of ubuntu), and with the help of
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingKernelBoot, I first boot on text mode
and system was blocked just after something like 'reached target
bluetooth'.

I also tried with acpi=false and it allows the system to boot
completely.

blocks on the splash scree.

[Bug 46017] Re: Mozplugger cannot open 2 instances of the same pdf document

2007-10-23 Thread domak
I have some strange comportements with evince in firefox since my last
migration from feisty to gutsy.

Most of the time, I have a gray window with the evince menu bar and a
Loading... message.
If the tab lose the focus, the menu bar and the message disapear and I have
only a gray window even after waiting a long time (I can compare with a evince
url from a command console, which load ans display the pdf normally and
fastly).

Sometimes, if I close all the tabs excepts the one with the pdf, evince
display it.

[Bug 150896] [gutsy] jnlp link does not open java webstart from firefox

2007-10-09 Thread domak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Hi,
On firefox (gutsy), the mime type for jnlp files is not registered with java
web start launcher so when I'm clicking on a jnlp link, I can just save it on
the disk or browse to find an application (not easy to find where is the bin
for java web start...).

Notice: If I save the jnlp on the disk, a double-click open java web
start.

You can test with the demos of this page:

thanks

$ apt-cache policy mail-notification
mail-notification:

$ objdump -p /usr/bin/mail-notification | grep NEEDED | grep -E '(ssl|tls)'
= nothing found

I checked my yahoo account configuration on mail-notification.
In the connection tab, the authentication mecanism was Autodetect but no
radio button for connection type was selected. I selected standard (the only
option, the others are greyed) and the status message from my yahoo account
change to Authentication failed in place of the message saying that
mail-notification need to be compiling with the SSL/TLS option.

By the way, I have several account and the only one who works perfectly
is the gmail one. The yahoo account never worked with feisty and my IMAP
account from laposte.net give me an Unreconized command like in feisty
(it has worked - and still worked with thunderbird - but I think the
provider changes something that's not compatible with the IMAP support
of mail-notification).

I have the same kind of problem since a gutsy upgrade this morning

Thanks.
I just tried a sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg and it reworks.

[Bug 106652] Re: glx problems with xserver-xorg-video-ati-resolved

2007-04-18 Thread domak
resolved!
Long time ago, when ati broke the 3D support on ati 92000 card with its
propriaritary driver, I used a workaround by creating a symbolic link between
libGL and an older version of libGL:
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1 - libGL.so.propriaritary_lib_before_broken_support

after, ati finally announced that they will not support anymore ati
9200. I switched to the excellent free radeon driver. With this free
driver my symbolic link was on /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2 but I forgot to
remove the propriaritary lib.

After the edgy to feisty migration, I don't know why but the symbolinc
link was on the libGL.so.propriaritary_lib_before_broken_support.

So, I deleted the symbolic link (and the old lib) and recreate a new one
on /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2. It works fine and I even have the desktop
effect.

Sorry.

[Bug 106652] Re: glx problems with xserver-xorg-video-ati

2007-04-18 Thread domak
I know. When I had installed the free radeon driver, I prealably
desinstalled the fglrx driver and fixed the symbolic link. The fglrx
libGl was left in the directory even if it wasn't used (I forgot to
remove it because I had put it manually to fix a 3D problem when I used
fglrx) and it seems that during the migration edgy-feisty, the symbolic
link was recreated on the fglrx libGl and not on the new libGl.so.1.2
arrived with the migration.

[Bug 69552] Firefox don't play videos with totem-mozilla plugin

2006-10-31 Thread domak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-mozilla

On Edgy (migrate from dapper) Firefox seems to not be able to play
embedded videos with the totem-mozila plugin (of course, It was ok with
dapper).

I tried with the gstreamer and xine totme backends without success.
I don't think that's a codec problem cause I can watch wmv and mpeg local files
with totem without any problems.

I've checked on forums (both officials an french) and I'm not alone (the
turn around seems to install mplayer plugin).

Thanks

[Bug 65694] Re: bookmark crash

2006-10-31 Thread domak
Same kind of problem but unable to reproduce.
I clicked on the menu bookmark - bookmark this page. A grey window appeared
and after a few seconds Firefox crash.

I launched firefox from a terminal (I also have video problems - bug 69522) and
have this message:
(Gecko:8886): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_colormap_get_screen: assertion
`GDK_IS_COLORMAP (cmap)' failed

(Gecko:8886): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion
`G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(Gecko:8886): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_colormap_get_visual: assertion
`GDK_IS_COLORMAP (colormap)' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
