[Bug 296162] Re: network dies with large amount of high speed traffic
Hi AA, I suspect that it is not being examined correctly. It seems tied to moving v.large files - I only have issues with disk images over 3GB, or *multiple* large (250MB) files. My guess is that if has been checked, it has only been checked with substantially smaller files and so the issue doesn't present itself. Mine was an 8.04 iso installed onto a new hard-drive, then patched to 8.10 using the automatic system - no RAID - just about as vanilla as you can go, and the machine has only been used for handling media files. I agree it is annoying, as it is stuff like this that prevents one being able to rely on Linux - this is a dedicated Linux media box connected to the TV, on an otherwise Windows network. Even more annoyingly the Windows side of life works perfectly - even with 8GB backup DVD images. [Bug 296162] Re: network dies with large amount of high speed traffic
I have exactly the same symptoms as Scrl above. Same network topology. Same host/client. I have replaced the network card, but no change in the problem. I can stream with outany issues, but direct file sharing *always* kills the network connection at less than 4GB. Using FTP to move 4.5GB disk images lasts longer - maybe two successful transfers before the network drops, but only if I limit connections to 1. If I try two connections at once it dies very quickly. -- network dies with large amount of high speed traffic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/296162 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 214556] Re: [Hardy] Can't share files
Hi, nottRobin is on the right track - Hardy (very unkindly) does not prompt you to fiddle with the 'shares-admin' which has no gui interface. You just have to 'know' that such a thing exists and needs modifying - kinda like the hidden switch that operates the secret passage in an old B-movie. (It is really too bad.) This thread gives a quick answer to problems with sharing in Hardy: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=4904711postcount=4 -- [Hardy] Can't share files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/214556 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
