Fresh 10.10 install. This bug crashes chromium so much I switched to Midori for a month. [Bug 674365] Re: Midori useragent does not specify full operating system
Browser useragents really should be generated on first run or at install time using $ cat /etc/issue Altering a package just to fix a useragent is the wrong way to go about it entirely, but it's the way everyone has been doing it for a long, long time. If it would please everyone, I would gladly apply $50 to the upstream development of $ cat /etc/issue - based useragent generation. I just really doubt anyone would accept that solution either. This isn't an issue I expect the community to be particularly interested in, as it pertains primarily to branding. If the community bears the full burden of maintaining the package, I don't expect them to try to fix this. [Bug 584758] Re: Ubuntu web browsers do not properly identify host
Web browsers created in the United States, such as Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer, use the letters U, I, and N, to specify the encryption strength in the user agent string. Until the US government allowed encryption with keys longer than 40 bits to be exported, in 1996, vendors shipped various browser versions with different encryption strengths. "U" stands for "USA" (for the version with 128-bit encryption), "I" stands for "International"--the browser has 40-bit encryption and can be used anywhere in the world--and "N" stands (de facto) for "None" (no encryption).[5] Following the lifting of export restrictions, most vendors supported 256-bit encryption. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_agent -- Ubuntu web browsers do not properly identify host https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/584758 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Brother put forth the effort they thought they needed to to get their hardware working under linux based operating systems. If we're going to disregard said effort, we owe them an explanation and a clear request as to what more we need from them. It seems they're rather responsive. :) As an end user, I rely on the binary nVidia driver already. I'm not going to switch operating systems. I'm not going to switch scanners. Users will do what they need to do, and the stated objective of the sane project is to make scanner access easy. The driver code may be butt ugly, but as long as that code doesn't put other scanner drivers that are already part of sane at risk also, I don't see how including those drivers can make anything any worse. The sooner they're pulled, the sooner the code can be brought up to project standards. Assuming, though, that you can't ship the actual driver, please at least ship udev rules, as per Thomas' request. Thomas : how do you find what udev rules to use with your scanner? [Bug 181358] Re: New upstream version 1.12
I'm on Ubuntu Jaunty alpha 3, and my TI-84+ doesn't Just Work with the old tilp in repos. Expectation : plug it in, Ubuntu pops up a Window : 'You have connected a device that requires additional software to function completely. (TiLP2) [cancel] [install] *click install* apt installs TiLP2 and all dependencies if kernel module, load it, add it to auto-load on connect start application, app sees device, user is good to go. -- New upstream version 1.12 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181358 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 258058] Re: Brother DCP 7020 uses wrong drivers
scanner driver, blehh. Years of frustration does murder to a person's spelling. As usual, I will provide any and all information from my machine anyone needs, not that anyone needs any. The DCP-7020 is simply not in the list that Ubuntu uses to set up Brother printers and scanners. It just needs to be added to that list; I can't do it, but for someone out there it has got to be trivial. -- Brother DCP 7020 uses wrong drivers https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/258058 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 258058] Re: Brother DCP 7020 uses wrong drivers
Jaunty Alpha 3. I plug my printer in and it immediately selects the wrong driver. Unlike, say, a Human Being, I know it's wrong. I set it to the HL-1250 Driver as I do with every Ubuntu release with this same old lingering bug. I print a test page and, of course, it works. I open xsane. Failed to open device 'v4l:/dev/video0': Invalid argument As usual. You try to run XSane as ROOT, that really is DANGEROUS! Do not send any bug reports when you have any problems while running XSane as root: YOU ARE ALONE! Gee thanks, XSane. I didn't already know that. I've seen that every time I've gone to scan something for the last two years, I'm alone and unloved, I think I've got it by now. Ope, same error. I guess I've got to navigate Brother's site and download their Completely GPL licensed, already .deb packaged, fully functional and stable printer scanner. I don't have time for that right now. Next bug. Low hanging fruit if I ever saw it. [Bug 188308] Re: colemak is broken
Ubuntu Jaunty alpha 3: Still no colemak keymap option in the pre-load menu on the LiveCD. To get colemak working in Jaunty, select country USA, variant Colemak, make it the only layout in the list, and hit 'apply system wide'. I gave up on proper repeating backspace, I don't think gnome loves us. If you still use key repeat at all (I do not, mostly because of gnome's colemak problems), xset r 66 will make it repeat. -- colemak is broken https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/188308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 317959] [NEW] shift switcher plugin needs post-initiation-only switching actions
Public bug reported: Usage case: My compiz is configured to, when my cursor moves to the screen bottom, drop into CoverFlow with shift switcher. I can then navigate the open windows with the horizontal scroll strip on my touchpad. Alt+tab also switches through windows, and the plugin stays engaged as long as I hold down alt. So far so good. Now I attempt to horizontally scroll in some app, and everything goes crazy. Single window switching with the scroll bar is, in my experience, worthless. I need to be able to bind the horizontal touchpad scroll bar so that it cycles windows in the shift switcher only while it is initiated. ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- shift switcher plugin needs post-initiation-only switching actions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/317959 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
