[Bug 1770044] Re: plasmashell crashes on login - so I can't use my desktop system.
As suggested by @GordonLack I observe that also in a desktop pc it had happened an operation like this immediately before the manifestation of the symptom, precisely the request for a print preview from an application which, however, had not set a program to be used to manage the display. This event is therefore almost certainly the origin of the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1770044 Title: plasmashell crashes on login - so I can't use my desktop system. [Bug 73536]
Created attachment 8750107 Bug 336193 handle SIGTERM in SignalPipeWatcher then in the main thread to quit What about the attempt in this patch? I intercept SIGTERM using "SignalPipeWatcher" as suggested, then I pass a task to the main thread so it calls "nsIAppStartup::Quit(nsIAppStartup::eForceQuit)". That may seem convoluted, it would look better if it was done in one go. I don't have any experience on the Firefox codebase, so I may completely misunderstand the issues. If "Quit" is executed by the main thread (like it would be after a keyboard key for example), wouldn't it avoid the aforementioned problems with the locks. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/73536 Title: MASTER Firefox crashes on instant X server shutdown To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/73536/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1060160] Re: [ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. UX31A] suspend/resume failure
I won't have the UX31A with me for a few days. [Bug 571294] Re: Lucid Linx: built in microphone doesn't work anymore
Hi there, FYI I've just upgraded to Maverick and the issue is still there: the internal mic works, while there's not input when I connect an external microphone. I still have to add options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba to alsa- base.conf in order to get any input from an external mic, This way the mic autoswitching doesn't work, but this gives me a selection box under gnome-volume-control Input which lets me choose either Line-in, Microphone 2 or Microphone 1. -- Lucid Linx: built in microphone doesn't work anymore (it applies to Maverick as well) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/571294 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 571294] Re: Lucid Linx: built in microphone doesn't work anymore
Hi Daniel, It seems that I've found a temporary workaround to this bug. I've tried all the possible options for snd-hda-intel in /etc/modprobe.d /alsa-base.conf and in the end I had some success with options snd-hda- intel model=toshiba (even if the laptop brand is HP). Petera, so I deleted pulseaudio and now sound works. Well, this is up to you. [Bug 394500] Re: [karmic] pulseaudio: card not found - Null Output
Hi petera, As Karmic is still under intense development, I believe it is understandable that we might bump into bugs/regressions. The point in using Karmic now is to help test the system and report all bugs here. The developers will then do their best to fix all the major issues before the final release (Oct 09). Therefore it won't be of much help if you overwrite/downgrade your Karmic installation at this stage (You always have the option to install Jaunty as you main/production system on a separate partition and keep testing Karmic at the same time). Regarding the above mentioned issue, I don't know if this could be of any help, but I forgot to mention that pulseaudio 1:0.9.16~test5 ran fine on Karmic. The problem started only with version 1:0.9.16~test6 -- [karmic] pulseaudio: card not found - Null Output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/394500 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 394500] Re: [karmic] pulseaudio: card not found - Null Output
I think I've found a temporary workaround (not a solution). I've opened /etc/pulse/default.pa and commented 4 lines. Before: ### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available .ifexists module-udev-detect.so load-module module-udev-detect .else ### Alternatively use the static hardware detection module (for systems that ### lack udev support) load-module module-detect .endif After: ### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available #.ifexists module-udev-detect.so #load-module module-udev-detect #.else ### Alternatively use the static hardware detection module (for systems that ### lack udev support) load-module module-detect #.endif Then I killed/restated pulseaudio and now I have audio input/output from the internal audio device. Still, the Hardware tab under Sound Preferences is empty, as if there was no audio device available.
